but this meter doesn't have a fuse on 10A jack lol. anyway starting from the largest range is really good habit and few people talk about that these days

@@niranjanaarulnambi7309 Well this happens from time to time - measuring voltage after measuring current , the probe is still in 10A jack but you forget to plug it into Volt jack. Here your multimeter actually forms as an ammeter instead of a voltmeter as you think it would be. Ammeter has really low internal resistance and connecting an ammeter across voltage source (to measure voltage) performs a short circuit, causing arcs and damage . But with a fuse in series, it burns when current is too high to stop this short circuit and to protect both you and your stuff.

Or you could measure the voltage drop across the LED, and use Ohms law to calculate the current.

yes i also wondering how it is done.... if we directly connect the multimeter probes to the battery +, - then it shows some value then the value is constantly decrease..... i think it is not the correct way... please help if anybody have any resources to know that...

You need to connect the battery to a load (like a resistor) and put the multimeter in series with it. If you connect the probes directly to the battery and set the multimeter to measure current, you are effectively short-circuiting the battery and will blow the fuse in your multimeter.

amperes (A), the unit of electric current, measure flow of charge (coulombs) per second, so mA (milliamps) is already "per second."

23 milliamps. One milliamp (mA) is one thousandth of an amp (A).

He did explain. Where he initially placed the red probe is where you do when you're measuring current in the range of ampere(you can see the marking as 10A). The latter is for small currents, that is mA.

That is just the amount of current per hour so its not really measureable

I feel retarded now. I was getting frustrated it wouldn’t measure amps. I bought this little cheapo thing specifically for that because my good one doesn’t do that. I’m a contractor and only deal with AC so I’m unfamiliar with measuring DC.
