Every time I don’t know how to do something with knitting, I Google and look around and still don’t get it… and eventually end up at a Rox video and not only do I understand perfectly, but I get extra info I didn’t know I was missing! Thank you!

Thanks for this information. I wish I had known this about 2 weeks ago when I asked my Daughter-in-law what she wanted for her birthday. She told me she wanted fingerless flip top mitts, and the only thing I measured was the part of the hand around the knuckles.

I love the idea of getting everyone's measurements all at once. This would have avoided ruining the surprise when I ask to measure my Dad's hand "for no particular reason".

So will the CO stitches depend on the hand circumference or the wrist because the wrist is always narrower than the hand?

Do you always measure the left hand? I notice that my fingers are a bit thicker on my dominant hand (right for me). Though what's noticable when trying on rings is probably not noticable in knitting even relatively stiff knitting. (Maybe a reminder to everybody to consider whether your "victim" is probably symmetrical enough, or whether there are significant side differences.)

I do when I'm measuring mine, because I'm right handed and can't manage it the other way! If you notice a real difference between hands, it could potentially make a difference, but even for my feet, which are half a size different, I don't have trouble with socks fitting differently. Knitting will stretch far more than minor differences in hand size.

I hate shopping for gloves as i have problem with low fat levels and keep changing size as athlete changed 3 times in last times none in the adults fit far too big and i have to wear them as i fall sometimes. The adults arent small enough.

I just knitted some custom socks for a friend and it was awkward asking for his feet measurements lol

you can just check his shoe size (when he pays a visit) and then try to make the socks based on average measurements table for that size of feet. though the fitting might not be that accurate for people with different insole height and foot width.
