Wow! I now realize why my prayer life was so rich and my love for God so deeply held when I was in college ten years ago- at the time I would meditate on the mysteries of the Rosary daily. I didn’t realize it, but now that I’ve been away from the practice for years, no wonder I feel a thirst for God in my soul. I will return to the practice immediately. Thank you, Father. Three Hail Mary’s have been said for you.

After watching this I thought I would share what I experienced while I was a RCIA, about 8 years ago. Our teachers were telling us different ways to pray and meditation was one of the ways we could pray. So for that class we went to a teachers house and she explained what we should do during meditation. Also trying to relax and clear our minds as well. So she began to play music meant for meditation and immediately I was on the beach, I grew up practically living on the beach as a child, I was about 8 or so and there were people everywhere. It wasn't loud or noisy, just very peaceful and calm. I noticed that I was holding someones hand and so I went to look up to see who it was and at first the sun was right behind him and couldn't see very well. I shielded my eyes a bit and it was Jesus Christ! I couldn't believe what I was seeing! That moment I spent with him was like nothing I have ever felt before. Just so calm and quiet, everything seemed to have melted away at that moment and it was just Him and I. I don't remember if I had asked anything, but I do remember Him telling me that everything is going to be ok. He said it through his mind and not with his mouth and I had heard Him as if he was speaking, I also didn't question what he said, as if I knew what he meant. After we were done meditating we all shared what we had experienced and as I am explaining what I saw the teacher looked totally shocked and she just kept asking so many questions and I just couldn't answer them, I think she was denial of what I saw, I don't know. So now 8 years later I have been led back to Jesus and even though I wasn't going to church and doing as I should I always thought of that moment. Right before lent was to start this year I was watching Father Ripperger speak and I felt like a veil had been lifted and I could see again, as if I was being called back to the Lord.(if that makes any sense!) Since then I have gone to church every Sunday and almost everyday and I say my rosary, auxilium christianorum prayers and my daily prayers too!

tkahnwith5 -- if you can, I suggest that you find a spiritual director .... pray for a suitable spiritual director to come across your path. There are probably many books on the topic, but I was advised to read "Seeking Spiritual Direction" by Fr. Thomas DuBay, so that's the only one I'm familiar with. I found it very helpful. You might also look for the Ascension Presents video on RU-vid by Fr. Mike Schmitz on looking for a spiritual director. Even non-Catholics seek spiritual direction from Catholic priests, nuns, and lay people. (There's a nun who used to be a Protestant pastor... she'd never really known any Catholics, but as part of her pastoral duties she was required to have a spiritual director, and the nearest qualified person in her rural area was a nun... she didn't convert right away, but it played a part in her eventual conversion).

Good story. Thank you for sharing. I've done do the rosary daily for past 8 years, Daily mass for 4 years, Aux Christianorum for past 6 months. I have listened to all of Fr. Chad R's spriritual warfare audios on sensus traditionalis. There are so many amzing resources. Praise God. I think the A.C. prayers work. Father Chad. R says in his videos that it takes 3 to 4 months before you start seing "results." I do the binding prayers from Fr. Chad R's books. Any other ideas or resources that you would suggest?

tkahnwith5 I too felt the tug of my heart right before Lent, and also feel that he lifted a veil for my eyes also. I've been also been going to mass every Sunday and then going to mass Monday through Friday and adoration. I've been praying Non-Stop. In the videos here are so awesome and have helped me so much. Yesterday I went to mass and I've been praying and asking Jesus to help me and teach me how to meditate. And I've tried it but not too sure if it's work. However yesterday in Mass it happened. I had just got done with confession and did my penance did some prayers and then I did the meditations on the Divine Mercy image. From the booklet the Divine Mercy image explained, by Michael E. Gaitley, Mic. I read the meditation read the scriptures out of town me then I close my eyes and use my imagination I was in front of the Blessed Sacrament. It also asked me to go the beach, to see the ocean the vast of it and to realize that that was Jesus Mercy. In the meditation asked me to go into the water up to my waist. And asked me to feel the warmth of the water. Then it said to look at the way they were building up that that was the piece of Jesus Christ that was going to come up on me and I was going to stand firm and not be moved and just let those ways come over me one after the other and it was his peace coming over me. Than he said it like it's 50 yards away 40 yards away 30 yards away 20 yards away do you see it. I said yes but in an instant I also felt him behind me, I have to admit I got scared when he stood behind me and then I said no Jesus I'm not ready, and then the waves just came it was too late for me to back out, and then it told me release it release it all the waves are my peace let go. I started releasing everything said I release my anxiety I release my fears and other things. Then it asked me to go back to the shore, to the point where you feel the water right underneath your feet and you can feel the sand being pulled from underneath your feet. He asked me if I can feel this and being pulled from underneath my feet, and I said yes and he said that is me drawing drawing you back into my Mercy. I just remember looking up seeing the ocean and I ran into it dive into the water was emerge underneath the water not at all did I feel like I was drowning I was at peace I was under the water and I was I don't know how to explain it but it was amazing. Then there was a noise and I came to that's when I realized that the priest was putting up the monstrance and sure if that's how you spell it, it is the gold that holds the Blessed Sacrament. So the priest had already took it out the Blessed Sacrament and put it in the Tabernacle. However before they do that they do some prayers and a song, I was confused at first and couldn't understand why they hadn't done the prayers or the song which is done all the time. Shortly after that Mass started and then that's when it hit me is that I was in meditation because I didn't hear any of the prayers or the songs that they do right before they put the Blessed Sacrament up in the Tabernacle. I was right the two steps away from the altar where the Blessed Sacrament was exposed and I was Neal down face to the ground, when I did the meditation. Also when I came to I just completely wasn't thinking and got nervous cuz I wanted to move since Mass was about to start my legs had fallen asleep. So when I stood up I fell right back down and I actually twisted my ankle. I have one of the gentleman that was there help me get up and sit down on the first pew. And then I felt really funny hot like I was going to faint and that man that help me out was talking to me and he touched my arm but I can barely hear him talking to me and I barely felt his touch when he touched my arm. So in that instant not knowing what was going on I just offered up whatever was happening to me in the pain of my ankle to my Lord. Then after a little while was okay. I felt like I wanted to faint but I'm not sure what was going on there I don't know if it was the pain from my ankle because I had Twisted it I heard it pop I thought I had broke it at first. I do have to admit I feel kind of embarrassed and then I felt bad because I had just asked the Lord for humility. All I can say is that at first it was scary awesome and I can't wait to do it again. The father that put up this video if you have any advice for me I am willing to take it cause I am still a little bit confused. I am confused but not letting go of my Lord at all for nothing I am not turning back to who I was and how I was, I only want to do his will. So if anyone knows how to get this message to him I would really appreciate it. The Peace of Our Lord be with us all😇

Praise God that your sharing inspires all of us. Only recently I went back to meditation after relaxing for years but I have been faithful to praying the Rosary in Latin usually two times a day- alone in the morning and together with my husband before bedtime. This was to drive away the devil because the Virgin Mother will always be at my side and the devil is afraid of her. I was led to go into meditation, a deeper way of communing with the Lord. Fr. Ripperger's talk helped a lot and other spiritual talk on mental prayers. This time I found my meditation more spirit-filled. I saw Jesus sitting on a bench welcoming me to sit a while with Him.. it just led me to tears to know that He is there in spite of my sinfulness and willing to comfort me. I would tell Him anything. I'm still learning but it surely improved my spiritual life. Thanks be to God.

I'm so happy you learned Meditation prayers in college. I've been ministering at a retreat center and it's impressive to me how little young men and women do this :/ Please keep pushing this because many young people are leaving the Church because they don't feel any connection to God. I think it's mostly because we are not teaching people how to pray. Blessings on you and the Nuns from your college.

Yes, that's exactly why they are leaving. They see the false miracles the dark side does and they are drawn to it. Intrinsically they are aware that there is a spiritual world out there, and their soul craves access to it. Unfortunately, there is hardly anything in our culture to point them to the good supernatural. They don't understand that the Holy angels, the saints, th e Lord, etc. Are more powerful than anything they see on tv. We don't have saints in this day, healing the sick, raising the dead, doing miracles. Why? Because it takes prayer to do that, and noone prays. They do the bare minimum, and so they never get to the fullness the Lord may have for them. Even though the good is more powerful, they never get to see it, because too few Christians are striving for holiness. Imagine if the lukewarm Christians pursued God as hard as the Satanists pursued the devil? What miracles we would be seeing. That's the tragedy of our times.

Thank you Father, so many great insights...but I'm happy you mentioned St.Peter...I believe St.Peter shows his greatness among the 12 apostles thru contemplative prayer...while St.John got the fullness of the contemplation technique later on because he lives with Mama Mary, that's why St.John gospel started in eternity, it's a mystical revelation because of Theotokos. Remember Jesus words when He ask the 12 apostles who do you say I AM? "Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by My Father in heaven.…"(Mt16"16-17) St. Peter already practice lectio divina and had been able to reach contemplation by hearing directly the words of God the Father in his praying time. Also St.Peter knows how to drive away the devil in his mind or during prayer as he said "Be sober and alert. Your enemy the devil, like a roaring lion, is on the prowl looking for someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8 )..St.Peter is a master in terms of battling the enemy, because knowing the enemy is battle half-won. I believe personally the enemy are engaged only once we pursue prayer through meditation this is the battle ground, but if we manage to overcome we had a good chance to enter into contemplation and this is where the devil cannot anymore enters. That's why holy rosary becomes a powerful tool for meditation and a sure method of entering into contemplation. Why? the holy rosary is both a defensive & offensive prayer not just to resist/ward off the devil but it has the power to hurt them even slaying the dragon/serpent as Fr.Calloway said the holy rosary is a "spiritual sword." We know from Ephesians 6:12-17 how the devil attacks, they are all cowards they fire from a distance first "fiery darts", because when we pray the Word of God it's like a a double-edge sword coming from our mouth. The devil will know if their distractions was successful if there's no more sword coming from our mouth meaning our fervor died down. The beauty & power of the Holy Rosary is, it was a very big & long sword (OT & NT tied together in a string of beads) that can reach the enemies, it is in our hands precisely to attack the devil and meant to harm them not just to ward them off... So the next time we pray the Holy Rosary, imagine the "powerful spiritual sword" in our hands.But if you want it to be upgraded in to a "Fiery Spiritual Sword" visit Elizabeth Kindelmann writings www.flameoflove.us Godbless.S&IHMMP4us.St.Peter thank you for aided meditation.Amen

I would totally add to this; St Ignatius of Loyola’s advice for meditation; his advice for the Morning and Evening Examen. And his rules for discernment of spirits for beginners and advanced souls, as to how to recognise the Holy Spirit’s direction within those meditations. St Ignatius of Loyola also wrote recommendations for how to meditate on scripture by imagining the scene and imagine yourself in that story and interact with Jesus with questions etc. (St Theresa of Avila said initially, for years; her meditation was just holding the picture in her mind of her prostrate at Jesus’ feet, and that all graces in her life up until then came through that meditation).

I am confused but not letting go of my Lord at all for nothing I am not turning back to who I was and how I was, I only want to do his will. 11:02 "The human mind can handle only one thing to think about". This is exactly my struggle with praying the rosary. How do you pray the prayers while meditating? I find if I focus on the prayers, I can't really meditate. And if I meditate, my imagination often takes over and the prayers are taken over by rote or muscle memory. I find it very difficult to try and hold both the words of the prayers and meditation at the same time (meditation being very shallow doing it this way).

Thank you Father! I was really looking for some guidance as I becomes less and less inclined to do Buddhist meditation. A question: in El Magnificat in Spanish we do not say magnify but glorify (Mi alma glorifica al Señor), do es the actual words and their meaning in a particular language change the lexio meditatio? Thank you and God bless 🙏🏻😊

I know an older lady (70s) who is a militant Baptist but cannot attend church because of extreme noise anxiety/sensitivity. She had become very close to my family. We have spoken about Catholicism a little and even Mary and my mother invited her to Mass, but she’s is closed to the idea of each. Could she be taught these ways of meditation or would she even be capable of meditation being outside the Church? She doesn’t even know that what she believes is false. She really has no idea. Id love for this to be presented to her for the end goal being her finding the true faith. I’d love some opinions! thanks.

Could you do a video on the door of sanctity? What does it mean if someone experiences it? I have read some things that is Mary’s presence if someone smells unexplainable rose, floral, or perfume like scent. I have experienced it and one time it was at my dinner table in the kitchen I called my husband over and asked if he could smell it but he couldn’t. I’m not sure what this experience means. It has been happening a lot since last year.

Nicole starkoniski keep with what St John of the cross teaches. Don’t pay much attention to it. It can be the devil too. You have no idea unless you have supernatural knowledge tell you. Told it’s of God then great & you really don’t need it but if it’s of Satan then you can get trapped and you don’t need that. Either case you don’t need extra things to help you.

Dalton, when I first started I had a terrible time concentrating too. Finally I went to adoration with the intent of not leaving until my mind calmed down and I could steadily focus on the secred heart of Jesus. I was there for two hours with my eyes closed continuously bringing my thoughts back. Everytime I would catch my mind drift, I would tell it no, and bring it back. It gets easier. You just have to keep practicing.

The video "How to meditate" quotes Jesus without citation. In journalism that's plagerism. The Apostle Paul summarised the sermon on the mount in Matthew 5 - 7 with his statement in Acts 20:35 by inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Ernest Imken what is the quote?
@jackcimino8822
@jackcimino8822 6 лет назад
Plagiarism is quoting words as your own. Jesus's words are in the public domain (except for modern translations)
@gray_mara
@gray_mara 5 лет назад
You may note that this isn't journalism. It's a sermon. Read books written more than a hundred years ago. They quote scripture without making a citation because the assumption is that the audience is already familiar with scripture. Same here. You'll notice St Paul does the same when he quotes scripture. Secondly, plagiarism is when a person claims these words as their own and that didn't happen here. He didn't say, "I had a great insight and here it is." He just assumed you knew. Trying to put someone down in order to show is how clever you are does not invalidate the message in the video.

Praised be Jesus Christ... stop making it so complicated... Watch your breath... count the inhales, then the exhales up to 10. begin again at 1. If your mind strays simply start again... no worries. Do this for 5, 10, 20 minutes a day... until you can do it without loosing track. Next count only the inhales or exhales, your choice... You have now doubled the time that you are PAYING ATTENTION... continue as before. At some point you will be inclined to let the counting go... Good. Now sit and simply "watch" your breathing and let the good Lord do the rest. this is the path to contemplation and genuine growth...

@@anthonygarcia3960 Praised be Jesus Christ... I learned it from a book on Zen Buddhism...I forget the title, but the technique was confirmed for me by the then abbot of Zen Mountain Monastery, Daido Lorie, at Mt. Tremper, NY. during my several week long visits there. The practice has no religious "flavor" other than what you give it. It is an excellent foundation for the Rosary... I used to start my day with a Rosary followed by 30 minutes of "sitting" and then Lectio Devina. There is nothing anti-Catholic here. I spent 18 months with the Trappists and another 9 months with the Carthusians... Genuine prayer ends in silence... The genuine pray-er sits in silence... and stillness... God bless...

@@spg77777 Like Father said, we shouldn't just empty our minds for the sake of emptying them, but instead must empty our minds to allow God to fill them. I stay away from eastern/buddhist/new age type meditation. The Saints are great and reliable resources!
@spg77777
@spg77777 2 года назад
@@a.r.4093 You're correct. One doesn't "empty one's mind just for the sake of it." What you are doing is disposing yourself for the grace/gift of contemplation as a part of a broader way of life... a structured daily schedule... mindfulness... mental battle with destructive/sensual thought. The Church doesn't teach this from the pulpit. The Church teaches at a lowest common denominator level, which is unfortunate since it leaves a vast number of genuine aspirants wanting... and looking east. I lived behind the cloister walls for two and a half years with the Trappists and the Carthusians... just saying... Stillness and the guarding of the mind through the above mentioned techniques are key to advancement. How could it possibly be that everyone in Asia is eternally damned because they were born in the wrong part of the world? Created for damnation? I think not. Ever read The Philokalia? It's eastern (underline) orthodox from the very early centuries. Dovetails very well with my original post. And what I've described is IN NO WAY "new age"... THAT stuff is rubbish and genuine teaching (from the east) is too easily disparaged by association with that term. Pax.

The authority is the Bible. Your quote was not given to Jesus. Paul wrote "Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." (Philippians 4:6)

Ernest, If the Bible is the only authority for you, where in the Bible does it say it is the only authority? Protestants are children of the apostates and heretics that pulled away from Christ's Church 500 years ago. The Catholic Church is Christ's Visible Church that He formed through Peter and the Apostles. Christ's Church is the Pillar and The Bulwark of The Truth, according to Saint Paul. 1 Timothy 3:15
