Hi, A really good tip is to look to see where most of the stones have settled, on a mainly sandy beach. The movement of stones with the action of the sea, usually harbours the heavier objects like coins, jewellery etc. So always detect the stonier areas, you would be surprised at what you find, especially after a storm....sid snot of Torbay.

appreciate the time you took to make this video. Some good tips! I've only been detecting since last August but I have something to offer which may or may not hold true for other beaches. Here in South Carolina where I live, there is the beach, the dunes and then the sand walkways on the shoreward side of the dunes just behind the hotels. I've found 8 small earrings since I've been detecting and 7 of them were found on the sand walkways. My thinking is that people are removing their sweatshirts, tee shirts, or other top layers as they head to the beach, and the clothing pulled over their heads pops off an earring. I try to incorporate working those walkways as part of my hunts whenever I can. Thanks for the video!

The silver item you didn't know about is a locking wheel nut. The odd design on the end is a special keyed receiver, making it near impossible to remove an expensive wheel and/or tire without the matching key.

I've been first time beach detecting in the Netherlands this week with my Q20 and here's what I learned: 1. Detecting in the early morning is more peaceful. In my second day some drunk twat tried to rip me off some way or another by telling me I'd need a permission to detect here. He even followed me around for a while. Luckily I checked with the beach administration before even coming here and knew that no permission is needed. Nobody bothered me at 7am. 2. The Q20 seems to have a problem with salt water. Detecting in wet sand makes it bleep randomly. I might edit this for more when I'm home.

About a year ago I detected an old sand beach and focused on the strip where there was pebbles and small bark bits. That strip stretched along the entire beach and it ended up being full of silver coins from the 30s :) It was awesome. So yeah, that strategy totally works.

Hi m8,I realy enjoyed your video, regarded myself as quite an experienced beach detectorist.but its a true saying you learn something new every day,I only ever detect dry sand or wet sand [low tide area]but I took your advice about detecting the high tide mark and to be quite frank have been amazed with the results.obviously I could say anything about what I have found, but the last two visits to my local beach I've had two silver rings one childs silver bracelet and a gold two fingered ring and various decimal and pre decimal.so to say your video has been a wealth of information is an understatement. keep up the videos regards Bobby

I wouldn't recommend going metal detecting in Virginia Beach, Va. in the U.S. because they buried a bunch of old cars under the sand years ago to help stabilize the beach. I bet one would go off nonstop there.😂 Also, funny story... When our children were little we were on vacation playing in the ocean & a pair of $500 Oakley sunglasses just floated up to my daughter. They were scratched of course but still! No one was even close to us so hard to tell where they came from.

@@Addictedtobleeps Legend! I went out detecting on the beach yesterday. I need your advice man. You're going to laugh your ass off, it's probably happened to you and I would really appreciate some advice if you have the time. Long story short I got a target, it was raining, sand was soaken wet. The hole ended up being 5 foot in diameter and 2 foot deep. The target was always within 2 inches (pinpointer), it kept sinking downwards like sand in an hourglass. Walls of the hole kept breaking off into the hole, hole was filled with water. Two hours Man, two hours digging that hole. I had to walk away. I covered it up of course. Felt like that moron digging a 12ft hole lol! I have an Excalibur 2 so it wasn't mineralization. Any tips would be appreciated. Cheers.

You are making lots of interesting and informative videos, it makes much better viewing/listening if you put a small piece of foam on your mic to eliminate wind noise. Its so simple to do on any camera or phone. Google or RU-vid is your friend for how to go about it. Looking forward to following this beach detecting guide thank you.

Would i be able to use my Gold max pro to detect close to the water (if the settings right), cos it gives a lot of false signals now, it works fine on normal soil. Thanks again. You need to pay close attention to rocks that make your metal sector go off. Some rocks naturally have iron or other metals in them. But All asteroids have metal (usually iron) in them and pieces of asteroids can be BB size or even smaller. So don't be fooled by small size. Asteroids are literally worth their weight in gold (sometimes more).

I don't want to be a killjoy but there have been some "inappropriately over-celebratory" reactions by RU-vidrs who found gold jewellery on beaches; Finders don't always recognise that some of it came from people who'd probably drowned; Someone may rsee what you're gloating over finding and know it to have belonged to a relative who went missing. People should remember that their video might be how someone finds out their lMissing oved one, last seen on a beach, is very likely dead.

Hello! :) The distance here is changeable depending on the beach. I went out with a friend this evening onto a beach in a place called Greatstone. The distance from the top end of the beach all the way down to the low was easily a mile. It can be really dangerous, because when the tide comes back in, it can circle you, and before you know it, you're surrounded. A lot of people drown this way!

Love beach hunting and learned a little today. You did well. I had no idea that the distance between the high and low tide line was so great. I noticed that in Florida as well--but I think you have them beat. I hunt Maryland beaches where the tide fluctuation may be 50 feet or so.What is the distance between high and low tides lines there? On Jersey beachs we like to hunt any area that is low-meaning saturated sand. Also areas that contain shells -objects with like weights seem to stay together

I think you should be careful and research the law because I know in many places if there is some reasonable information to use to find the person you have to do that or it could be either a misdemeanor or a felony depending on the value. Sometimes you have to leave it at the police station with your info for some amount of time and if no one comes for it it's yours. At least that's the law in California.

Great tips. One comment. I think you should detect in the evening right after the people left bathing/swimming. If you wait for the winter, other detectorist will hunt before you. Also more chance of new sand sprayed over it at the end of the summer. Thumbs up! HH&GL. Marc
