Your work is unreal. Your instructional videos have given me the "kick in the ass" I needed to finally start believing in my ability to paint as well. Thanks Adam keep em coming!
I just used the Honeycomb stencils and limline tape on a tank just like this. It came out nice so far. These videos definitely helped me understand how to set the lines. Thanks a lot!
Hey Adam , if you don’t mind a few questions?; - what reeperator do you use? -what vacuum system is on your line line palm sander? -what type of ventilation system in your shop? -do you ventilate when airbrushing? Thanks man we all appreciate what you do and hope you’re makin that $ , you deserve it Adam Johnson
Man I’ve been doing this stuff for a while, I wish I would have had a bad ass teacher like Adam, instead of all the headaches figuring out how to by myself, this is my favorite channel!! Keep up the great content,
Hi Adam, love your vids! A little hint I learned some time ago concerning the emblems / badges with a foam back liner: A fishing line or a nylon cord used in a sawing motion are really quick and easy to remove this stuff. The remaining residue is quickly removed with one of these yellow rubber discs (vanilla smell) and a cordless drill. Pleas keep posting about your craft / art - it's very interesting to watch. Best regards (also from Germany), TOBi 👋
Gotta say man, I'm a welder but have been diving into doing home projects and side jobs just to expand my bag of knowledge. Your videos were the first I had come across when picking up my first generic airbrush. I have built one bike in the past and only slightly had anything to do with the paint and that was just the idea of color and lines. I'm beyond blown away with your work and makes me want to learn so much more every video. Keep up the amazing Art. 🤙
This is the first time seeing this actually done. Feel bad about all the custom painted bikes I just walked by. That was amazing. I love the old skool glass look. I remember seeing crushed glass flake in my neighbors garage.
Awesome!! I did my first motorcycle and golf cart now I’m working on my second golfcart finally got the good lime line tape and the metal flake this time it should be way better! Thank you for all the tips!
just did my first paint job with some airbrushing, wanted to do it ever since i started watching your videos. has really opened up options on custom paint. keep up tge good work, and tha ks for the lessons
Brother as usual top of the charts awesome video! I hope you know that you inspire so many people to try this stuff and I know many have started doing this for a living now because of your videos! Keep it up! 🤜🤛👍🙋🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤦♂️🌿
@@TimeWarpCustomPainthe’s absolutely right. Experience and technical knowledge are massively important for sure, but an artistic eye and good taste are along the same lines as having a genetic advantage in sports. You gotta come with it already pre loaded! 🫡

This is just what I’m looking for! I build and mod guitars and basses, and this is absolutely the vibe I’m looking to bring. I’m working on a Fender Jazz bass right now, and so far just the silver flake over black is an amazing base to have as a foundation for the next steps. (I’ve never even thought of silver flake over black before)
@@TimeWarpCustomPaint Actually I kind of cheated a little bit I used something called Krylon glitter blast instead of the metal flake for several reasons number one is because the gun I have does not have a large enough tip, however the results turned out pretty awesome brother took a lot of clearcoat to get it buried but it’s pretty sparkly I’m gonna keep on practicing pretty soon I will work my way up to a better gun and some real flake! Thanks Adam we really appreciate you I watch your videos like a college course I go back over the old ones all the time!🙏🏻😎 Oh and I’m using the Iwata Neo for my airbrush
I'm in the process of learning how to paint like you .....I don't have any equipment or experience ATM...but watching your videos motivates me ..there very informative..I love bikes been around them my whole life ....I'm a son of a biker ...I was born into this world ...and I love it ...painting customizing Harleys is what I wanna do .... would appreciate any tips on how to get started or what machinery to invest in to do the job
Keep rocking sweet paint i really like the harley stuff as that's the direction I'm going for my roadking after some practice using lowrider style graphics any help choosing some good equipment and compressor would be awesome, thanks Schu
Going with a two stage compressor is optimal but it all depends on what you plan on painting for example a car a motorcycle tank. I get a lot of questions on compressors so I plan on doing a video on this very soon
Nice job!.....I find it easier to cut the plug off the bottom of the fuel level indicator, pull it out and just splice it back together when all done.....That thing is a pain to work around
Awesome video man. Have you ever done a matte or satin clear over a paint job like this though? Planning on doing my bike after the riding season is over black with some gold metallic all over then gold leaf for the Indian logo then id like a satin clear over it but I haven't seen anything similar done so I'm not sure how it would look.
Thank you so much for your videos! Very helpful and you gave me the confidence to do some of these projects. This one was great. Can you tell me where you got the hex stencils? I did not see them on the Amazon link
Id like to start by saying thank you again for all of the awesome content you put out. So besides the differences between different brands of clear coat, generally how long do you have after air brushing the candy to then lay the clear coat layers on? Im guessing still just the normal recoat window for the clear coat that you are using?
Adam i gotta ask because I really am just getting started. How much paint will I need and what all else do I order like basecoats or clears to paint my superglide panel style with metal flake silver and candy paints?
Long time follower here, just getting into painting myself… I’ve got a question did you apply any adhesive promoter after sanding the clear coat from this tank or since it was paint over paint and not on fresh metal that’s not necessary?
Love your videos! I just bought the Lime Line sizing and silver leaf and will try it. Do you mean spray the size on and wait around3-5 minutes before applying the leaf?
Hey Adam, I believe I've seen you use black on some of your graphics and then go back over it with a Kandy color and it seems other times you just used the Kandy to make the graphics. Just curious if there is a reason for this or maybe I'm remembering it incorrectly from past videos. Thank you for all your content. Absolutely awesome to watch!
Yes your correct. Sometimes I will sub the black for a dark candy color. No reason really. They look a little different it’s personal preference. Most of the time I like the contrast of the black
Hi a few questions after the metal flake is applied do you then clearcoat 3 to 4 times and also do you use the same base coat black on the sides.Your paint tutorials are awesome thanks
Awesome video Adam. USPS has my order to Canada finally haha. I really appreciate your videos and because of them i will be painting my own motorcycle! How long do you wait after putting on some of the black base for shadowing or the kandy colors before you tape over them to do the next design or to silver leaf? Thanks for everything!
@@TimeWarpCustomPaint awesome. So basically by the time you have started on one side and gone to the other the first side is good to go. Thanks! I really appreciate all the info you give.
Hey Adam new at painting any advice on removing tape that is sticking real bad after Kandy coat and thin coat of clear over Kandy? Have you ever lightly sanded it first ?
I have a bit of a different question. been watching your videos for a long time and am going to be playing around with some techniques for sure soon as a first time painter. I plan to do some paint work on one of my harleys, I'm curious how the original Harley pinstripes are added if i wanted to go with a custom yet somewhat "original" style with the pin stripes. For instance right as you were pulling off the emblems the top pinstripe is white and the bottom is blue. Is that paint work, if so how can that be achieved, or are those tape style decals then cleared over? Thanks a ton, your videos are great.
When I was in my early 20s I went to a vocational school. Salt Lake community college here in Utah. I learned collision repair and refinishing. It was fun to be able to fix stuff and take them back to preaccident condition for a while but ended up getting bored really quick after. I worked for a restoration shop for a few years that was good for a while but got sick of working on the same vehicle for six months to a year. I fell into motorcycle painting and I loved it because they’re small and a fairly quick turnaround. Anyways to answer your question vocational school gave me a great foundation of paint and repair. But I find it not necessary because a lot of the stuff I learned I will never use.
@@TimeWarpCustomPaint your welcome I've been painting for some Year's but always scared to try spraying candy you give great instructions and explain very well
