When fabricating a chassis, most of the MIG welding on the lower rails is completed before adding the cage and front clip. Get tips from Leavitt Racing fabricator Rodney Brooks as he fabricates the chassis subframe and lower clip for a race car, including tips for welding in tight angles among the chassis tubes.

This was done more than 10 years ago and it's one of the best Miller vid's I have found so far. I will keep looking but I'd love to see a new one like this, on a car frame.

@gymkhanadog Sorry to counter what you are saying but "backhand" welding is a very good technique, it is a bit slower but produces a sound uniform weld, like any welding if you do it wrong it is not good. For years I fabricated motorcycle mx, road race, flat track and drag racing frames and parts with a torch and stick welder. Torch welding oxy/acetylene is what was used before GTAW was invented, 4130 was used widely in air frame construction and torch welding was the method used until GTAW.

Thanks for the comment, unfortunately this was shot at a trade show where the ambient noise level was high. We are working on reshooting some of our videos to make sure they have higher quality audio.
