I know this is an older video, but I can explain why integrations were slow to come back. Even though you changed the new HA to the same IP as the old HA, the network interface has a different hardware MAC address. You either have to wait a bit for the devices to learn the new MAC address of HA or remove those devices. Thanks for the video. I'll be migrating my HA from a small PC into a VM.

Thanks for sharing Most devices send out a gratuitous ARP, so a MAC address change should be quick But I've never looked into too much detail as to what HA and in this case Debian were getting up to

Great video! I was specifically watching for the Zigbee and Z-Wave part. I was thinking I would need to have separate backups for these. I guess because you're using the same usb sticks with the old and new this isn't necessary. I'm outgrowing my Raspberry Pi 4 and thinking about upgrading to a Dell thin client.

Yeah, it made sense for me to stick with the same controllers rather than buy new ones Not sure if the Z-Stick still saves devices in its own storage, but it saves quite a bit of money anyway I have to admire the options HA gives you for platforms to run this on With your typical vendor it's oops, we can't continue using the hardware you bought from us, throw whatever you bought from us in the recycling bin and buy our latest proprietary hardware to keep getting support With HA you can run it on pretty much anything and migrate from one platform to another

Thanks for the video: very educational :) . I am going to migrate from a raspberry Pi4 to the Odroid N2. And I was also very curious about when you would plug the Zigbee stick into the new computer? Is that before you do the restore of the back up or after? And how do you make sure the ordering of the USB devices is exactly the same? Thanks for informing me and keep up the good work!! :)

I transferred the controllers across after I'd shut the original one down I then changed the IP address of the new computer and then rebooted it to make sure it was ready After that I did the restore USB device ordering can be tricky when moving from one computer to another You could check in HA though if they're the right way round by going to Settings | Hardware then clicking All Hardware Feel free to filter things out by typing tty into the search field

Would it cause any issues if you Restore from backup during the setup process? Currently migrating from a Raspberry PI 4 to a Intel N100 based system [Minisforum UN100C]

Can't say I've tried as you need a way to restore from backup And I haven't looked into what gets backed up and what needs overwriting So I just do a clean install process on the new machine and then do a restore

@@TechTutorialsDavidMcKone AAHH, Currently trying it trough a Restore during startup. if this fails, I can always wipe the disk, and redo the install. its not like I am Killing off my PI straight away. or it will cause any issues with my other Hass setup.
