Not everyone knows how to mix cement any more, but doing stonework is one of the fun things in life, as Brian explains. "It just lasts for a long time and it looks nice."

Brian Stockman is a master carver with more than 50 years of experience carving all mediums from wood, to stone, horn, bone, ivory, and ice. He has a particular speciality as a scrimshander (one who does scrimshaw), carrying on the ancient art popularized by New England whalers. The old Red Green saying, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy. My cement tools and brick tuck pointing tools are rarely used but they are there. I envy your stone fences.

Thanks Dave. Yeah I’m so looking forward to doing the leprechaun house. I have a lot of prep work to do for it, like making the windows, door, bricks for the fireplace, and a bunch of iron work. That will all get documented, should be fun.

I find it interesting how in Europe and North America they use silica sand or light colored sand, what we call sand here is ground rock of various grain sizes depending on the purpose, good to see you Brian, be well

Hello Garou! So nice to hear from, it’s been a while. Yeah, around here we have a lot of this kind of sand. We have a lot of stone as well and what we call gravel of different grades, each has it’s own purpose. I hope all is well with you and yours!

You don't mix cement, it's sand and cement. or as the trade say mortar (as you said) or more commonly by bricklayers, muck.
