How to mix concrete fast with a drill in a wheelbarrow

This is my effort of mixing concrete fast. I could mix a wheelbarrow less than 5 mins using this method. Having the drill to dry mix the sand and cement helps drastically. Hand-mixing concrete is by no means easy and this is why manual concrete mixing is not the preferred method of mixing concrete. But, it can be done and well.

Nice video mate, it’s not easy work and you’re doing well. Yes it’s slightly patchy and there could be easier ways but keep up the good work 👍🏼

It's all a learning curve mate. Practice make perfect once you get the hang of the basics. In 4 weeks I am gonna build a pergola on it instead of mancave. Thanks for the encouragement., 😊

Slowest and worst way to mix concrete, what sand are you using for the mix

The fastest I done (timed) was just under 5 mins, what's your speed on it, manually? I used sharp sand (I think), from builders merchants. It's just fine (typical) sand no bits or anything.

I could have added all three together and mix it then, that'll probably speed up the process. I might give that a go tomorrow.

That batch was slightly watery, it took longer to dry as a result!

I just used a cheap drill which I bought for £60. Nothing special.

Hi mate, What is the ratio mix for concrete???

There are different ratios for different purposes. For me it's: 1:3:3. Cement: sand: aggregate(rock). In my case I couldn't fit 3:3 in my wheelbarrow so mine was, half a bucket of cement, bucket and half of sand, bucket and half of 10mm chippings/rock.

Basically, the more chippings you add the stronger the concrete is. Some suggest: 1:3:4(aggregate).

Got to say it you should stick to the daytime job,that is the biggest cowboy job I have ever seen , dont mean to be cruel but you should have got a pro in.

Done a better job than a pro, so what now?! There is a reason why diy was invented. And there are reasons why builders have a sh1tty reputation for being the real cowboys. I rather be the pro-Diyer than the pro-cowboy.

@@norocketsciencebuild5371 man I have been in building trade all my life most of it in groundwork and concrete .. your deluding yourself if you think you have done a better job than a pro, and all the pros you mention who have done cowboy work are not time served tradesmen real professionals don't do work like that and it's cheaper in the long run to get a pro (tradesman who has done 5 years apprenticeship). Not a six month college course. I would give you 5 out of ten for trying but only 1 out of ten for quality....sorry

Your method claims to be mixing concrete fast under 5 minutes however i been watching your video now for 10 minutes since you finished pouring. hmm very strange. Not sure what that stick is unless its used for cooking something but i would have used a proper hoe or shovel to do the mix. Its much faster than using that chop sticks. This is a great example on how not to mix concrete the easy way. And you started screeding the concrete right over the plastic spray bottle, hose, gun and all with the wrong sand Man whats wrong with you.

Tried a shovel, I just prefer this. In another video, I did time myself and it's mega fast. This video was about trying different approaches.

Do yourself a favour and hire a little belle mixer from the hire shop for £25 to £30 for the week. Don't use different sand and add the pea shingle, just buy ballast.
