probably, many guitar tracks sound awful when listening them isolated, but in the full mix sound great!

I think its just the tone hes going for, you're right but I think it makes it sound more like an authentic recording. Could also be his overdrive setting. To each their own lol.

@@brnktv when you process something with 1 or more plugins, those plugins may increase the gain of the track that they’re on. sometimes when comparing 2 sounds, the one that sounds “better” isn’t actually better but just louder, so comparing a quiet guitar sample to a loud guitar sample isn’t fully fair, because the quiet sample could be mixed better than the loud sample but it just sounds worse because it’s quieter. if you matched the gain level, that “loudness bias” goes away because they are at the same gain level. TLDR; louder sounds better (usually), so u gotta match the gain to make sure it’s actually better and not just louder
