If you are reading this, please take carefully the advice on highpassing vocals at 150hz every time, it might work for some songs but some voices do shine only when u keep (reduced) those harmonics at 80 hz, it highly depends on the genre.
I guess I have to double the vocal track in Ableton? Because, if I use a send channel, I can't quite solo the signal to hear what and how am I compressing

I’m a member!! But why does my mixes sound lifeless.. it sounds like the beat is separated and clear which is a good thin but its too dry like not interesting
@@audiospectra Kinda not, this is about mixing vocals to 2track beat, not how to processing individual 2track beats. There are many techniques how can you treat a 2 track beat to sound better before you dig into vocals. Cheers Casper
Try lowering the vocal by about 1dB. The boost 250Hz on the beat by 1dB. This should help - if the vocal still sounds upfront, try cutting 2.5kHz on the vocal by 1-2dB.

I can think of a lot of reasons. I'll name a couple: 1. You can EQ the Parallel Aux/Send channel to taste. I won't divulge my technique(s), but you have an infinite amount of flexibility to go beyond the "norm". Many compressor plug-ins don't have dry/wet mix dials, especially more of the vintage analog emulated compressor types. Some do, but most of them don't. 2. Inserts - you have more flexibility and maneuverability to design sonic processing on each parallel compressor aux/send, depending on what your overall goals and objectives are.
you can't hear any difference because your upload is being normalized by youtube. I'm using headphones and still can't hear any change, lol. upload your video to -14 LUFS
These changes aren't just for loudness though. It changes the character of the vocal, which I can clearly hear. If you want a louder vocal just turn it up lol, that's not what this video is about in my opinion.
KniteGraffiti Or its all in your head. 🤷🏾♂️ Sometimes we think we hear something just cuz we want to hear something change. Happens to me every time until i flip the polarity on a copy of the signal and turns out it was nothing
