So actually what would be the best amount of white in each cap ? Maybe start off with 4 to 5 drops ? because you mentioned you could use upto 8 drops in each one.
@RyanMethricArt

@@Scoobieish I would start with about 5 drops. I’m constantly changing my white ratio. Sometimes I go light, and sometimes I go heavy on the white.

Do you still build up the layers with this set up like you would with a regular grey wash? Or do you have to pack and blend like using opaque greys?
@RyanMethricArt
@RyanMethricArt Год назад
I build up just like a regular greywash. I personally start with the lightest wash and block in all my tones. After that I usually do all the black, and then work light to dark slowly building tones.

So I'm just curious after watching a handful of these videos... Why dilute with water at all? Why not just drops of black and gray? I've seen some with the results from healed and with white added it looks way better imo, all black and water dilute just looks like faded black. Could you try one with zero water to dilute, add the white, and show a comparison of both after they've healed? I think that might make a noticable difference
@RyanMethricArt
@RyanMethricArt 2 месяца назад
@@levig8236 They are two different techniques. Using water to dilute is how transparent grey washes are made. Using only black with different ratios of white make opaque grey tones, this is a monochromatic color tattoo. I often do both.

Using soap into your dilution? Doesn't that burn a little bit for the client. Just asking.
@RyanMethricArt
@RyanMethricArt 5 месяцев назад
Naww, green soap could if it’s not diluted enough, but I use a very minimal amount of dial soap mixed with my water. Probably around a 1/8 teaspoon of soap for the whole bottle. I like where I just start to see soap suds in the bottle.
@Tattoosbylefty

Can you use green soap mixture for the water/soap in the bottle? And is just plain distilled water ok? Thanks
@RyanMethricArt
@RyanMethricArt Год назад
I have never personally used green soap in my career, so I can’t recommend using it to cut the washes. Distilled water is perfect and is safe for any tattoo application. The bottle I use is distilled water with a few drops of Dial gold liquid soap.

@RyanMethricArt
@RyanMethricArt Год назад
The white will definitely give a smoother, creamier look to the greywash. It also will be easier to see the lightest tones in the skin while working, they won’t look as red.

Soap and water is okay to mix with ink? Can you explain. I’m learning.
@RyanMethricArt
@RyanMethricArt Год назад
I wouldn’t go heavy on the soap. The solution I use in my bottle is 99% distilled water, with a few drops of anti-bacterial soap. I use minimal soap because it helps preserve the tattoo stencil. Too much soap will make the stencil wipe away quicker. I’ve never had issues mixing with washes, or color inks.

Every body watching READ this including video creator!!! Great tips I do my BnG basically the same BUT don't put your carts in water caps. When doing so the only part of the cart you can grab is the locking part that goes inside the grip of your machine leading to a extremely higher risk of cross contamination. Clients safety > artist ease of work

Why the soap & water ? Why not just hazel or str8 water ?
@RyanMethricArt
@RyanMethricArt 5 месяцев назад
Hazel and/or glycerine always makes the skin red when I use it. I mainly use distilled water in my bottle, there’s literally a couple drops of Dial Gold soap mixed in. There’s not enough soap to affect the wash, and if it does well.. it works for me. 🙌🏻

@therealbronson
@therealbronson Год назад
I have used intenze and also xtreme I prefer xtreme, mostly because of being able to buy the individual tone rather than the whole set. But I agree with you white wash is a much nicer looking result. I’m currently trying to improve it more but using an “opaque light tone” and dipping into it occasionally I’m sure you have noticed the white can settle in the bottom of the cap by the end of the tattoo so if you mix in your cartridge it’s allways good .
@RyanMethricArt
@RyanMethricArt Год назад
@@therealbronson Yeah I do have to remix up the caps every so often. I’ve heard good things about the Empire ink white wash also, have you tried that? I also know some artists that do one drop of purple concentrate in their washes. They say the cool hue slightly contrasts with the skin, I haven’t tried that yet personally.
@therealbronson

Yeah I think empire ink looks good but it’s not easily available in New Zealand, I think any reputable brand will produce a nice white wash I’ll be releasing a video soon hopefully on my ink set up to I think the opaque mix into the white was is pretty game changer to. Iv heard allot of artist mixing colours into there inks also but personally I don’t do it.

Do you find it makes a difference using dial over traditional green soap and other soaps (I use blue soap)
@RyanMethricArt
@RyanMethricArt Год назад
I personally like dial soap because I feel it’s not as potent as the green soap. Every time I used green soap it seemed to irritate the skin no matter how much I diluted it. I tend to wipe my tattoos and clean the skin often, the dial has been my go to.

Be accurate on what you say bro you say black and gray wash and you just make a gray Color tones is not gray wash is gray tones … is color technique… and you mix a bit the way of tattooing some parts like black and gray and some others like color technique … You confuse the people that watching you like this bro …. No problem with your set up it’s nice easier smooth just learn how to say it and explain it before you make the video… not all understand what are you doing with your set up and how it works … No hater here bro just an observation..!! Cheers
@RyanMethricArt
@RyanMethricArt Год назад
Technically there’s no “grey” in the traditional black and “grey” you’re referring to, since it’s transparent washes of black… Here’s the thing, my video shows how I make my grey wash, it’s not about what’s right or wrong, it’s about what works for me, and has made me successful in my career. The way I make my “grey” wash is to use black and low amounts of white. This is not color tones, because there’s no color, the technique to tattoo with this wash system is not the same as using opaque tones, or color. I’m here to share my knowledge and journey. This is how I do it. My title says “grey wash” and that’s what I make. These videos aren’t for experienced artists, but for people who want to learn. Saying I’m inaccurate is a nice was of being close minded.
@Skinnyvi_tattoo
@Skinnyvi_tattoo Год назад
@@RyanMethricArt I’m not close minded mate and I’m not here to judge you or be a hater on you or somthing …. I understand your set up … and I say what I say because obviously I understand you speack to not experience artists … what I’m saying is that is ok is work for you but you have try first the other set ups with normal black&gray sumi and after you went to this set up … this gray wash is for more advanced artist that understand how everything works that’s why I say you confuse the people… again I understand 100% that’s your set up and how you work but you have the knowledge and the understanding to work with it a beginner not that’s all I’m saying when a biginer read black and gray wash and see your video he don’t understand that is a different technique of black and gray!! I say again I’m not hater really I just see somthing that is more confusing than helpful..!! A biginers have to learn the basics and after understand how everything works they can go to more complicated set ups and techniques …! And a last thing when the ink turns in gray it stops to be wash its color … I’m sure you work on 4stroke or 4,2 stroke and you soft packing your color(shadings)… I have try almost all the set ups .. yours , and with chocolate with silver .. just drops inside when you add even one drop of color or white on your blacks and on sumis it stops to be black and gray is Color gray even the technique change to apply it to the skin correctly! it looks black and gray but is not! I know that we cannot explain that to the clients they don’t understand the difference…but we know and we know how it’s call it and the differences. Again I’m not trying to say that you are not a good artist or somthing maybe you are the best etc that dosent change what you “teach” and how you represent your style !! Best regards mate 🤘🏽…!
@RyanMethricArt
@RyanMethricArt Год назад
@@Skinnyvi_tattoo I disagree, the techniques I use for this method are exactly the same I use for traditional black and grey. There is no right or wrong way to do this, there is no right stroke length, everybody is different. I’m teaching my method, this is Ryan Methric’s method on tattooing. Different fighters punch in different ways, if you disagree then please make your own channel, film your own videos, teach your own way. If you are knowledgeable then why watch these videos on RU-vid? Seems only to troll, If you have the skills to teach then do it, don’t argue about someone else’s method. You can’t stop this, you should focus on progressing, arguing on my RU-vid channel isn’t going to help you.
