Great video, I was searching for this and kept getting sent to the official Microsoft support site. No surprise that it was fucking worthless and just told me vaguely what a mod is and not how to enable them.

Glad i could help. one of the people in my comments pointed out there is an easier way where you could just set the install location to the modifiable windows apps folder itself and it would function vs having to do the redirect. cant say i have tried it but seems like it could work.
@@ogBohica i didnt notice that issue when i was doing it. i would check and make sure you mods show the same version on the ingame mods menu. also check they are enabled
Now once i do all of that if i had mod folders could i just drag them into the windows modifer app under conan exiles would they appear in the mod menu of the game as well

nope. i mean they should have done that. they are using and exact pathing which means that if its not in the exact location of c:\modifiablewindowsapps\conanexiles\etc for detecting if the game can be modded. this makes it so if it does not have that exact pathing(or think it does) mods wont be active for the game. a relative path uses the directory the game is based in. so you dont specify anything before the game folder location allow for the root game folder to be anywhere and still find all the files inside it. honestly microsoft keeps trying to add logic to make an easy method for detecting a game was release from them and that create issues. this is an example of an earlier issue, but since the changes to allow for mod anywhere has happened they keep renaming folder directories to be different from steam and other locations which can play havoc with the mods. .
I'll genuinely have to ask- my thing is working, pretty good but the downloads are very SLOW... Do you have a fix for this? I understand if there isn't one

It might help others. I had to log in to windows as admin to be able to grant permissions to Users since my default account did not have admin privilege
Wouldn't you originally have had to install the game on another drive, other than C: for this to work? If the game is installed on your C: Drive, it's pointless to make a link on another drive. Regardless, I've tried every solution, and mods still can not be enabled, and nudity is limited to partial. When the game first installed, I launched it, and all of these things were there. They were removed with an update. Guess I'll switch to the steam version, and try that. No biggie if it doesnt work but it was worth a shot
I'm trying to download a sever and it says not found for the mods and ideas? Also I'm playing with a controller and the mouse cursor still moves around with my right stick any way to get that off
well, you can get the mods from steam even if you dont own the game, is very ez actualy, just google, really as for servers i dont now, and i dont want to, i just want to play the game offline (im from brasil, my english is poor)
i tried downloading mods with steam cmd and was denied access. the other sites that used to provide those mods from steam got dmca. so not sure how you would get the mods for the server, but you would add the mods i believe the same way i described for manual modding earlier.
I know this video was made a while ago but when I ran the command the first time, I didn't have the correct location for conan typed in. I went back and tried to do it properly and now CMD is just telling me "cannot create file when that file already exists". When i boot up conan exiles it's still missing the mod option.
nevermind, I fixed it by going into modifiablewindowsapps folder and there was a new shortcut to the conan folder. just deleted it and redid the command and boom. it worked. thanks for the vid.
I still can't seem to get it to work. Everything is already on C: so that's not a problem, I have the mods in the mod folder as they should be but for whatever reason I can't see or join my friend's server with the same mods and when I tried a solo game, it doesn't even look like the mods are properly installed. I'm not sure what to do at this point
On xbox app, under the three dots, the setting to "Enable Mods" is there for me... is that a problem? Can I use mods the old fashioned way? My xbox app is updated, no issues as far as I can tell.
so i have noticed its kinda region based. im U.S.A. based and for the app hear that functionality should have been altered. i have helped individuals in other countries where that wasnt the case. what you can do is probably follow my old video on this and it should function. game just needs to be in your c drive and have mods enabled.
EDIT- never mind I figured it out, great video! So I am trying this, I believe I did everything as specified, but it won't make the junction link, it keeps saying access denied
it keeps saying wrong version for every mod that gets downloaded? Also the mods download extremely slowly even though i have really fast internet. Anyone else? any ideas on how to fix?

Cmd process says access denied. Whats the fix for that? I am using the administrator manpower. I also have all the permission sets administrator but it still doesn’t work.
Are you sure this is 100% safe, I’ve seen things about people losing access to their Microsoft accounts because they changed the owner in modifiable windows apps
you are probably thinking windowsapps which is where microsoft installs files they dont want you to touch. modifieablewindowsapps was just version 1 of them allow us to mod xbox games, however with updates to the app they have changed it. if you are nervous about doing this you can also try adding the game to the location instead
How to change the owner of ModifiableWindowsApps folder? Actual owner is TrustedInstaller and im not able to change it for administrator even though my account has administrator status :(
i walked through taking ownership in the video by using the advanced permissions and altering owner. if thats not working you can go the other route and just delete the folder and create a new one and you will already be the owner
Thanks for the guide. i have a problem, when i download a mod and i try to logging to a server it said wrong version but they're the same. and theni try the mod in single player and it work. i don't know if it a problem in Gportal or no. any solution?
it shouldnt be. are you manually installing the mod in both locations or modding the server then allow your game to automatically get the server version of the mod?
start with standard troubleshooting steps. remove link and relink. delete mods folder. reinstall game. basically somethings off but who knows what it is. try doing least time consuming resets first and move out until you fix the issue.
i've managed to make it work i can see the mods option now but i cant seem to download mods from online servers. in the mod mismatch menu, it shows the mods status are 'downloadable' but when i click download all, the game tried to download the mods but after a few seconds it stops and all the listed mods status now changed to 'not found'. its like it cannot find the route to the server port. can u help me?
@@connorlavis-barnes5365 so how i walked you through creating modifieableapps conan etc for the redirect. instead once you create modifieable apps on your cdrive try pointing the conan exiles install location to that folder
honestly this one is the worst ive run into, besides maybe subnautica which is just very finnicky and needs just the right versions. most the rest its normally the same or one additional step to mod the game.
@@couchcmd yeah, I can see in main menu. But when I try to connect servers without VAC, download doesn't work. with VAC servers, I can download mods. but when I complete download, It shows me 'wrong version' and can't go in. LOL
i have done a mod on how to mod generation zero, but for steam. im not sure if its possible with windows/gamepass version since it requires you modify your executable commands and those are locked down
it has to be in c:\modifieablewindowsapps\etc for it to function. odds are if your gamepass is the us version your game is in c:\a folder you picked\conan exiles\content\etc. if you map your installation location to the modifieable location it may work for you
so ping is the time it takes a network packet to go from you to the server and it to reply back. With that being stated ping normally is controlled more by the region of the server, the network availability on the server, and the path you take to connect to it. if your friends is in europe and you are in the us high ping is to be expected. you can even run into ping issues just going from 1 end of the us to another. The next question is if the server is hosted or if it is his own local dedicated server. if its local he may have no issues communicating for a lan, but his internet my function as a bottle neck for people joining from outside his home network.
