This is a relatively simple way of being able to render an image and then access its pixel data all from one script, which allows you to do effects which require more detailed procedures than can easily be done in the compositor!

3:55 what’s the point of copying the array with numpy instead of just passing the array?

I believe because I just wanted some of the numpy functionality, and I was going to be directly modifying the contents of the array so I didn't want to screw around with accidentally doing anything to the image before the dithering was done. Not sure if it was actually necessary or I just felt like it was good practice.

@@sirrandalot would that be the same as just creating a new array from the old one and then passing that to the function? or does numpy do something special to it?

Would you consider doing a tutorial series where you take Khan Academy's drawing exercises from their intro to JavaScript course and show how they can be done with Python in blender in both 3d and 2d?

Hey thanks for the tutorial. I have been wanting to see if i could add pixel sorting in a render for awhile for cool glitch effects. I just didn't know what to do for the start of image processing.
