Really nicely done video. It's a nice change to not have it start with a guy yelling "HEY GUYS" in your face. Do you use the mesh for the entire carpet surface? Will it grow along wood or substrate without mesh?

Thank you Andrew, Yes I used mesh, it can grow on wood or rock.

How do you solve algae problem ? Your tank seems clear. Are you using uv sterilizer ?
@overriderss
@overriderss 6 лет назад
i guess the answer is shrimps ... on the other hand, if the plants are healthy and growing, they release chemicals which keep the algae down and also keep the water clean and healthy

Hi, great video! I saw that you showed a video of one of your shrimp when mentioning the CO2. Does this mean that such shrimp provide a source of CO2 for the tank? And what breed of shrimp are those?

Question: I really want to carpet my betta/snail tank. The problem I have is that I also have a couple of assassin snails that love to burrow in the substrate. Any issues that you know of with using the mesh?
@stevearcher4861

Tank looks good and a nice video for the explanations. I have been looking for non-metal meshes but cannot find them. Why? not because of rust, i know you are using aluminium, but because of the sharp pieces sticking out all around the edge. In my tank I also have Kuhli loaches and Corydoras both of which constantly scrabble around in the sand substrate. Kuhlis also do not have scales on their heads. So I am concerned they would hurt themselves on the edges of these metal meshes. Would plastic coated garden mesh be ok to use in the tank? thanks
@hollanderson
@hollanderson 2 года назад
I know it's been longer than a year but yes, you can certainly use plastic mesh, make sure to use the very thin ones that are almost cloth like, or you can buy substrate mesh bags and cut them to size, then ankor them with weights / rocks etc. Always leave plently of sand substrate for the loaches as well. Make sure to get aquarium mesh instead of garden mesh.

@ahartakpower
@ahartakpower 4 года назад
Mostly if you have tons of live aquatic plants including floating plants,they're act as filter Which made your water clean as clear The fishes or shrimps waste get onto the soil, act as fertiliser for the plant If you're planning to doing this with low maintenance of filters. You should add lava rock. Lava rock make good bacteria alive due of the small holes on them, good bacteria will eat nitrite from ammonia where it came from poop. Good bacteria will produce nitrate which is good for water i think. .3.

@Tropictank
@Tropictank 5 лет назад
I never tried.
@illuminadia6023
@illuminadia6023 2 года назад
I have found that it struggles to attach to substrate because it shifts around often. Maybe if you have very low flow, dense gravel or sand, and no bottom dwelling fish, it could have a chance to attach, but would still come uprooted so easily! I have seen some people do it by laying it over the substrate, then covering the entire substrate with a thin fishnet material and weighing the netting down with hardscape. The netting held the substrate and moss down and was much less noticeable than a solid metal mesh would be, if you can get it to grow that is!
