Just a quick video showing how to mount and unmount a Fisher snow plow to a truck with the Minute Mount 2 set up. The plow is a 7' 6" fisher RD and the truck is a 2004 Sierra 1500.
Unhitching is easy. The hard part is reattaching after the summer is over. I have no trouble lining up the truck with the plow, but I always find that the plow frame is sitting a little lower than the truck frame when I put into the plow and I have to wrestle with the plow pushing back on the frame to get one of the pins to lock in. The remaining pin never seems to line up and I have to take a 2x6 under the frame and lift up and rock the thing a few times to get the pin to drop in. Then the rest is easy, but jeeze, there's got to be an easier method.
Same forgot a jack and it took me a solid 45 minutes to attach. I have an ultramount that takes about a minute every time. No idea what I'm doing wrong.
@@LouieCastro3 This year, when I took off the plow, I made a new observation: the frame assembly wants to tilt toward the truck as it's released. So I got the idea to put another block under the frame rail that's closest to the truck. This keeps the height of the coupling from sagging, which was the main problem with re coupling the plow in the past. I'm going to try it out this winter and see if it makes a difference.
Same! This year (today) I had to let almost all the air out of my front tires to finally line the holes to the pins. Taking it off is effortless but putting it back on sucks!
@@__J_O__ I put the plow on yesterday, this after getting new snow tires on 18" rims in August. The truck frame was 2" higher than the plow forks, so I had to take a 2x4 and lift up the front part of the frame, then lever up the back part and put another 2" block under that area. I was finally able to line them up. 30 minutes!
***** Its been awhile since we had the plow installed. I would say for this setup it would cost somewhere around $6k installed. I would go to some of your local dealers though and search around!
I just shot a mm2 with the new style headlights on them as well but I need the plow side H-13 headlight harness do you no where I could get one or maybe you have one kicking around??? @masshardscaper
+Tyler Thomas We've had a good experience plowing with a 1500. We had 2 actually until last year. Just plow properly and don't beat on the truck and it should do fine. Just make sure to get a 7.5' standard duty... don't install a HD.
I’m also in mass.its Jan 4 and getting a big storm over the weekend.i plowed for 2 years with my 1500.the front end went.its not made for the weight of a big fisher.they have a smaller fisher you can use.thats what I would do
