A quick comment on the 10000 dollar limit on cash coming into Russia. This is an undeclared limit. If you declare it, you can bring in as much as you wish at no cost other than filling out paperwork. Mind you, if you are leaving the US with that money, over $10,000 you need to fill out declaration paperwork as you are leaving the US. Again, no cost.

You can bring more than US$10,000 as long as you declare it to Customs. It's desirable to have some proof that the money was obtained legally. I got a letter from my bank stating that was part of the proceeds of the sale of my house. The customs officer will count every single note in every currency, and you'll have to make a declaration as to what you will do with the money. Western debit and credit cards do not work in Russia. Best currencies to bring are USD, Euro, GBP or CNY. The best way for Australians to get to Russia is by Emirates via Dubai to Moscow, or FlyDubai to other Russian cities. Australia is considered an "unfriendly country" so immigration will probably give you an interview before you can get a migration card. If applying for residency you need an apostilled National Police Certificate, which is only valid for 90 days from date of issue.

Why do u think so? U are a man of work, not a "golden boy", working people now respectful (as it was in USSR times). If u know the language to a decent level, check yourself "Тест для РВП" tests on history basics, law and language. After that u are ready to pass exams (for temporary residency it is enough to have "3" instead of "5" mark). There is a list of most important professions, that have preferencies in obtaing residency or VNGH (Вид на жительство). U can also ask for Asylum in Russian Embassy, get View on living (ВНЖ), apply for citizenship and pass the tests.

You’ve been there 20 years already, Sam? What took you to Russia in the first place? Do you have an academic background with the language, or are you self taught? I started going to Russia in 1991 as a photographer to cover American tourists on Lake Baikal. I didn’t have the language then, but started to study it with teach yourself books. I went another 7 times to Russia as a photographer and writer, but I always had an interpreter as my Russian wasn’t good enough. I continued to study the language slowly, and in the last year improved my spoken Russian by joining Tandem, a language exchange site in which you meet people and practice their language as well they practicing their English. It has been very helpful. I love the idea of living there, but I feel I’m too old now at 77, although some more visits would be great if/when the war ends. I would not feel so comfortable there now, in case I inadvertently said the wrong thing to some Z types. We are officially enemies, unfortunately! Is this ever an issue for you? @@K2teknik. It was a TV-report posted at a "Transport company Dentro"/ "Transportnaya companiya Dentro" ytchannel. They said that according to the Russian rules one should wait for a year to get category to drive a truck and 6 month more to get additional category. So, new drivers without truckdriving experience don't wont to wait for a year and a half to be allowed to drive it legally. So, they concluded that maybe these rules should be removed, otherwise there will be and already exists the lack of truckdrivers. While person is on working visa he doesn't obligged to pass the Language test. Later, when he is applying for residency hebhas to pass the Russian Language test, hitory and law basics. Migration center and a Language school for immigrants in Moscow - "Dom Migranta". They have web-site and Telegram.

I think it’s been that way for a number of years. It’s probably nice to live there if a person is wealthy but the American dream is more of a marketing propaganda message. If you ask the average American why they love America then they will answer, because it’s the land of the free and the home of the brave!!!!!

Hi. Depending on the needs, nutrition, the need for a car or other benefits of civilization, prices can increase by an order of magnitude. Keep in mind that Russia is the same European country where it is easier to live in a village or a small town than in a big city. At the same time, prices for food and utilities are the same in 90% of the territory

Moscow, unfortunately, is the most expensive city in the world, so you should find out in advance the cost of renting a house or hotel room. It is worth proceeding, approximately, from the fact that renting an apartment in the suburbs of Moscow starts from 50,000 rubles per month (normal option) or 20000-30000 (abnormal)

@artemprudnikov5693 For real?! Moscow is the most inexpensive city to live in among major world capitals. $700 or $800 per month should be enough. Of course, that's the minimum.

Think of Moscow as London. You can find cheaper accommodation but it’s going to be more difficult because your hosts are required to register you in The apartment you stay in. If you join the telegram chat then there are people in the chat who can help answer your questions

For women over 60 and men over 65 your exempt the language, history and governance tests. Still need to meet quotas though.

Hallo Sam.. I have only started watching your videos coupla days ago, and it is fascinating to see life in Russia, from a foreigner's perpective. I am a black guy from Cape town South Africa, and have always been curious about Russia. I just want to know how open minded russian people are when it comes to race relations. If you can make a video about that, it will be very helpful. I know there are videos on this topic, but i would like you take on it. Many thanks from Vernon.
