I tend to convert radicals into exponent (lets not count that as a step) and then i simplify. Works just as good

@@dave5544√12 can be rewritten as √(4×3), which is is equal to 2√3, so putting it into the original radical: 2√12; 12 = 4 × 3 2√(4 × 3); √(a × b) = √a × √b 2 × √(4) × √(3); √4 = 2 2 × 2 × √3 4 × √3 4√3 and since the first radical is also 4√3, we can multiply them together or square the same term to get the answer: 4√3 × 2√12; 2√12 = 4√3 4√3 × 4√3; a × a = a² (4√3)² = 4² × (√3)²; (a × b)² = a² × b² 16 × 3; (√a)² = a 48 ps. it looks rly long here, but it's actually rly easy to do on paper (as some operations can actually be done mentally). this was just an extensive way to explain how to do it that way. also don't ask why I decided to waste my time this way, ive been on an algebra kick lately :DD eta. i just realized i replied to a comment from a year ago lol, still hope this helps or you learned how to do it!!

@cardinal_gy1523 6 месяцев назад
Certainly (±6)^2=36 but √36 is only 6,not to be -6 -6= -√36 If you wanna minus sign in radical(example √-36),you should use imaginary unit "i" and √-36 is represented by √36i.

if i had a calculator i would just square 8, then multiply that by 36, then find the square root of that. it’s a longer method but it works better if you don’t know the square root off the top of your head

@@orlock20 i thought you meant 47 followed by repeating nines which is the same as 48. Like how 0.999999999…. = 1. If it terminates early, then thats a different story but i thought he ellipsis after the 9 meant repeating.
