Your tutorial is done beautifully. Not only do you give a lot of information such as basics for beginners, but you also remind us of how important color theory is from the beginner to the experienced
Thank you so much for such a kind feedback! I truly try to created a tutorial that would help myself when I was a beginner and it's delightful to read that it's well received ❤️
Hi! Thank you so much! From cover to cover I have only seen book from Dani Ives about 2d needle felting, it's a nice introduction in the media itself, covering multiple types of projects. If you are more interested in landscape or animal pictures then I haven't found anything specific yet myself. But I am slowly putting together video series for RU-vid and possibly a book myself ☀️
Really enjoyed watching your process. I like that you left all the layering details, even when you struggled a bit. I love a process video, but too often creators take out big chunks to keep their videos shorter. But then as a beginner I miss out on the struggles and ultimate solutions. It also shows me that it’s not “just me,” and it really is a process. So thank you for not worrying about the length in exchange for the teaching moments. You inspired me to want to go back to some 2D felting. It’s been a minute since I created in that format. ❤
Your comment truly made my day! ⭐ I remember struggling with the same feelings when I started.. but with every year I spend felting, I discover again and again that needle felting is the most forgiving art form. Just as you said - it's a process. ❤️ Thank you and I hope you truly enjoy your 2D endeavors ❤️
Amazing tutorial , very clearly explaining your methods. I have learnt a lot and will be using this as a reference for my 2d felting. So far I have used kits, but this makes me want to freestyle and given me the skills I needed thank you
Thank you so much for such a kind feedback! ❤️ It absolutely makes my day 😍 It's definitely worth to start exploring your own designs after a while of following kits and tutorials. So happy to hear that you feel ready. Happy felting and remember to trust the process! ❤️
More landscapes please! This one is beautiful and so helpful to see your color choices. I love the depth and colors. Will you do another snowy landscape please? Perhaps a snowy scene with mountains, lake and trees, or mountain, waterfall into a stream and trees? Thanks!
Thank you for the ideas, this is definitely helpful! 😻 All noted in my felting journal so I can use them as inspiration when thinking about my videos. Next 2D tutorial I have filmed and planned is - chickens in flower garden 🥰 It's going to be live on January ☺️
I am a true beginner and was looking for tutorials when this caught my eye...stunning! This is the style of work that I aspire to...I am sure I will watch this many times before I give it a try. Thank you so much for sharing your talent.
Thank you so much for all the kind words, Judy! ❤️ Felting is very fun and I am certain you are going to do great, just enjoy the process 🌟 Happy felting!
I really enjoyed this tutorial. Your commentary was clear and informative. I struggle to let my work become more abstract, so your blending techniques will be very helpful.
Definitely more snowy landscape videos with trees in different styles. I've struggled so much with pine trees of all types either looking too formed or too much like a blob. The way you went back over the trees with the core wool and bright white really helped me to make them look natural. Thanks!
Thank you so much! 🥰 I am so glad you liked it andit absolutely makes my day to read that my tutorial helped you to solve felting mystery! 🌟❤️ I will definitely have to think about more landscape ideas, thank you! 🥰
I am wanting to try this felting and have been watching different videos. They say do not use the needles on a slant it can break them. I see you are using then that way. I just want to do things the right way. Thank you for sharing how to do this. I ordered the clover felting tool and it came with fine needles in it. How do you know which needle size to use. I was videos they used big needles.
Hi Donna, Thank you for yhe question, very valuable one! There is a wisdom in what other felters are saying but also a little bit of nuance. Let's explore together! Needle will break if you try to change the direction during the stabbing. That is why for the beginners, while you are still learning the motion not allowing any slope is very wise advice. The secret how to not break your needle is to go in and out in the exact same direction, keeping you stabs straigt. I go in and come out at the same angle, both when I am felting straight up and dowm or using 45 degree angle. For a beginner it's easier to use the straight up and down motion, keeping your needle at 90degree to your work and be very intentional about it. And keep it slow! Do not twist the needle or go from this 90 degree angle to anything else while your needle is in the fabric, or you will definitely break it. I was felting very slowly and up and down only in this 90degree angle for a long time. Now keeping stabs straight is second nature to me so I can change the agle, but still go straight in and out. And you will notice that I go in one angle for a moment then change it if needed and keep poking in this new direction for a while, not trying to change it with every poke. Another comment about tutorials - to film the tutorial my camera needs to be above my work, so you can see everything in detail and thus I have to use needle on a slant, or you would not be able to see what I am doing, my hand would be in the way. When I am not filming I often felt in 90 degree angle. Hope this helps! I think I need to create seperate video explaining how to work with needle in detail to get everyone on the same page. Happy felting!
@@MrsCuteFelts Thank you for the info, you were helpful. I am waiting for needles might be a little bigger and for the wool so I can try this. I did get a wool mat. But then I hear should use the foam ones. I love your picture.
Thank you! Excited for you! 😍 When it comes to the mat, then there isn't right or wrong. It's just what's easier for you and it's a combination of the way you like to stab, the fabric, needles and the mat. All play a role in your preference. I am a light stabber and for me foam or brush mats work the best for felted pictures - my hands do not get tired so quickly as these mats create less resistance than wool mat. But it doesn't mean that it's not possible or that it's wrong to use wool mat. Not at all! Many love and prefer it over my favorites. You will expand your tool collection and experiment over time with different options yourself. I would stick with what I have for now and if it feels like my hands are hurting or I just don't like it, then I would look for alternatives.
I’m new to this “needle felting. But, this is my favorite thing I have seen done. It’s, amazingly, beautiful!!! And I believe I can do it. I just need to go get some colors.
This is a stunning piece of needle felting.... So many subtle colours blended together. Thank you for sharing such beautiful knowledge, especially the choices of colour and the changes you made as you went along. Your taste in colours is exquisite. Too many needle felting tutorials focus purely on the technique, but the end product is crude, whereas yours is delicate and intriguing👌💞
Thank you so much for all the kind words! ❤️ It means so much to me. I have learned so much from the felting community and I am honored to read that you find value in my work. 🌟
Great tutorial! I have a picture of a landscape and was trying to figure out how to solution the trees in the background,,this has helped me immensely. Thank you
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy working on this project when you have time. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions! Or you just want to share the beautiful art you make! 🩷
Very interesting and beautiful. I purchased my first needlefelting craft kit today, and with your help I believe I can do this. Thank you so much for making felting look so easy and relaxing.
Thank you so much! 🥰 Oh my, I am so excited for you! Hope you love it and I am sure you will do great! ❤️ This is the most forgiving and magical craft, everything can be tweaked and perfected, just trust yourself 🌟
Thank you for a brilliant video. Wonderfully explaned hints and tips. I'm just about to start my own 2D pictures for the first time, so perfect timing for me. I particularly liked the fact you use tiny amounts of colour to create the shape and feeling. I was wondering how I was going to do that. Thanks Again for your help. Cx
Thank you for all your kind words, Catherine! 2D needle felting is easier than it seems. I am sure you will do great! Would love to see the results if you are willing yo share 😍
Thank you so much,Gwen! This comment absolutely made my day, I am so happy that it inspired you to try! 🤩 And I am certain it turned out wonderful 🌟 If you are on Instagram and would like to share your results, you can find me as @mrscutefelts
Congratulations on making such a wonderful video. I have never done 2D needle felting and yours is the first video I have watched. However, you have inspired me and I have everything I need to get started, so my sleepy mouse will have to get his head attached later because I am about to enter the wonderful world of
Thank you so much, Patricia! ❤️ You are so kind! It's the best feeling when you have everything needed for a project, isn't it? I am certain that you will do great and I hope your sleepy mouse gets his head soon! 😁
I loved your tutorial. You have definitely inspired me to have a go myself. Thank you for being so generous with your descriptions, especially where you changed your mind about your blending, it was very useful to watch. X
Hi x I really enjoyed your video. It was relaxing and informative and has inspired me to try 2D felting. The pace of the video was perfect for me and you explained it very well , thank you and I hope you do more of them God bless you xxx
I loved the video, my only suggestion would be if you could zoom in closer to better see how your detailing works. I couldn't see very well when you were putting in the branches on the trees and how you were applying the snow to get that uneven edge on the outline of the trees...mine turned out more animated and id like to get a more realistic look like yours.
Thank you, Elaine! It's so valuable to hear what others think of my videos, I spend so many hours working on them that it becomes hard to evaluate. This will definitely be implemented in my next one, will figure out how to zoom in more! 🥰 Hope you enjoyed the felt! 🥳
Thank you, Dawn! I hope it inspires you! And maybe you will find your 2D felting passion one day. I was convinced that I will never do 2D but here we are 😁
Thank you.I have been wanting to try 2d . Your video really helped me to try a go. Would love to see more videos. I just started 3 d a month ago. I love it.
Hi Jan, congratulations! You have found really lovely hobby 🥰 and it will be very hard to stop 😁 Reading that it helped you to start, absolutely makes my day and inspires to create some more! 🥳 See you in my next one! ❤️
I loved the way you use colour combinations and layering. Your explanations are very clear. As a beginner I feel much more confident about starting my first project.Thank you for your generosity.
I love your color choices. Even when you changed your mind. I’ve learned more watching this one tutorial than all other tutorials! I will happily subscribe. This is wonderful! 😊
I have only been melting for about six months and just watching your landscape video just brought everything together for me. I’m so glad I found you keep sending out videos.
Thank you so much, Susan! I can not express how grateful I am for such a kind message. I absolutely love felting and it means the world to me if I can help or inspire other felters around the world! ❤️ I am working on new ideas and videos and hopefully soon will have time to share them! ⭐
Nothing I dislike about your tutorial, it's amazing, I love your approach, your talent, your honesty and generosity in sharing your skills, your calmness, the background music and last but not least, your accent 💝
