This episode was right on time and very much so needed! I was able to immediately begin taking action. One thing I took was be proactive in protecting your art and intellectual property. Do not wait until you get that message from an attorney, or you suddenly realize someone had taken your content. It is better to be proactive than reactive! This was very helpful. Thanks guys!

Definitely disagree with the no signing a bad contract. Some people seriously don’t understand what they are signing. We can’t assume everyone has the same level of intelligence on business as they probably would be creatively. But this was definitely a dope and much needed interview 🔥🔥🔥🔥

I have to disagree with Rashad in his assessment of whether a contract is good or bad. I think it fails to understand the human nature element. My specific issue is with the language that he is using saying that “That was a good deal” if you accept the deal. The issue that I have is that a label, who is in a position of power, is oftentimes taking advantage of someone’s vulnerable state. In essence, the person is not in there right state of mind and in position to be making this type of decision, especially if they are broke. $20 is a lot of money to a broke person. $100k is like $10 million dollars if you’re broke. Labels have been preying on this vulnerability for years and that’s not ok. Then the record labels add all these stipulations to the deal that are unnecessary. If a person creates work, they should be entitled to ownership of that work. You can’t call a deal a “good deal” because a broke person accepted the deal because they were just trying to get out of their bad situation. It’s still a bad deal even if the person accepted it.
