Just got a Summit Goliath, and with such a big stand it’s hard to stay quiet walking through the woods. I tried this and walked right up on a doe. 100/10 this is the stealthiest way to carry a climber through the woods.

I’ve been carrying this wrong for years. Not nesting them. The only drawback I see with the way you have it on your back is the prongs that grab the tree will catch the backs of your legs. That’s why I turned mine upside down. Good video.

Summit Treestands are very frustrating to pack up and carry on your back. It’s a shame they are so comfortable in the tree otherwise I would give up on the brand all together.

The part of the harness you leave hanging from the seat work well to keep the seat and the platform from separating. In fact, if I remember correctly that is detailed in the Summit "how to" video.

Forget those gator straps. Forget the tether. Get a set of Third Hand Archery Stabilizer Straps. Install them correctly and tighten them down and you won’t be able to budge your stand when done properly. Plus they act as a double tether when climbing and descending.

I do exactly as you do for early season. However, when temps start dipping I leave the top of back rest pad to the rear. I then roll up coat or other layering clothes and stuff them between frame and pad and add a bungee horizontally. I do walks sometimes of an hr back to some places and can then carry a smaller/lighter pack in. Absolutely love my summit stands.

@YoDooDSup put your backpack on the out side of the stand. You just have to do your padding differently..pull it thru and tie it to the top but first slide your back pack between the frame an that bungee cord that runs horizontal then pull that pad up to support the bottom of the backpack an tie them lil black hooks off at the top

@@mountainbuckif you ran your top section of the seat straight up and still had the bottom part of seat folded up like you do then went over the top rails with your bungee and connected it to the platform you wouldn’t be losing all that carrying capacity on your platform…just take your cam strap run it from top of rail down between the teeth and connect it then rest your backpack on the bottom of platform resting against the v …I’ve ran mine like this for over 20 years and I’ve yet to find a better way….this way you even got room for bibs , jacket and even a set of waders resting above your backpack …also a longer cam strap makes it easier to connect if you plan to carry all 4 items

Your videos have been extremely informational. I have watched several of your Summit Viper SD videos because I am hunting with one for the first time this weekend. I've noticed in your other video, you bringing along a backpack as well. How do you travel with your tree strand on your back, with a backpack and your crossbow through the woods? Any tips?
@mountainbuck
@mountainbuck Год назад
Hey M VanHoose, thanks for the kind words and for checking out my channel! I appreciate the support. I typically have my backpack on first and put the stand over it (this adds a little padding between your back and the stand). I carry my crossbow in my hands and usually have it cocked (with safety on) once I get into the woods. You never know, you might walk up on a buck and having that crossbow ready would be clutch. Best of luck this weekend! 👍🏻🦌

You cannot rest a Summit Viper steel in this same manner. The cross braces are not wide enough for the lower arms to slide in. Very disappointed in this stand and sadly it was my first purchase. The stand you are demoing is much nicer and looks easier to nest.

Bought a new summit tree stand and would trade it in a second for the old api grand slam light supreme, had one years ago but sold it due to needing the money and was a big mistake. Wanted to buy a new one but the company was sold and they changed the design and apparently cheaper out on the quality from all the bad reviews I read. Nothing in my opinion needed changing and was a great stand. Way quieter and easier to attach to the tree and packed better. From the reviews a lot of people complained about not having the sound deadening foam inside the rails and mine despite it being on the box doesn’t have any inside either, false advertising if you ask me. Don’t get me wrong it will get you up a tree but for me it doesn’t come close to the old API
@mountainbuck
@mountainbuck 10 месяцев назад
Hey D M! Thanks for the insight! I haven’t heard of the grand slam light supreme. It sounds interesting! I’ll often get people that love another brand’s stand comment and say how much they like that other stand and then more often than not, that other manufacturer doesn’t make those stands any longer (sometimes they are ridiculously expensive as well). For me, having a reliable company like Summit that’s going to be around to provide service and support is a major selling point (aside from the quality and comfort of their stands). Just my opinion. Thanks for sharing and best of luck this season! 👍🏻🦌
