clean stuff fam! I find that venturing out of the scale is easier if you already have a chord progression that modulates or uses modal mixing.

im slightly familiar with that and def neeed to brush up more on my theory in that regard for going out of scale. it would be nice to get a more concrete set in stone understanding of why certain chords work so nicely. def gonna look into this brother!

PeeJay study some jazz progression, alot of jazz pianists go out of their “scale” alot and even use entire key changes mid progression. u can also use dominant chords within a scale to change scales entirely mid progression due 2 the circle of fifths, for example if using c major, u can switch g major mid progression after using a dominant chord in c major. neosoul chord progressions r also good to study from as well. i tend to use alot of neosoul influence in my beats. you can create out of scale tension something like tyler the creator does on alot of his beats by following a chord w the same chord but pitched down one semitone (regardless if it is in scale or not)
