This was an impromptu, unplanned UK foraging tips video from instructor Richard Prideaux.
From February onwards we see people out in the woods foraging for Allium ursinum, AKA Wild Garlic, AKA Ramsons, AKA Buckrams etc etc. While it is a great choice for keen foragers and a good wild food resource there are also some hidden dangers.
In February and March another, toxic plant (Arum maculatum) will be found in exactly the same places you will find Wild Garlic. As you can see in the video, the young leaves look very similar and can easily be confused for each other.
Take care when foraging for Wild Garlic in early spring, and be 100% sure of the identification of what you are picking before you eat it.

Also don’t rely entirely on the smell. If you have been picking wild garlic the smell will be on your fingers so if you pick lords and ladies or bluebells you may still smell the garlic on your fingers.

I have no idea what you're talking about - unless you mean the midrib on 'Ramps', Allium tricoccum?

Like the late, great Terry Pratchett said "All fungi are edible. Some fungi are only edible once."

Thankfully my wild garlic doesn't look like this, it has long leaves like chives. It's an invasive weed on my property.

It's not wild garlic, it's three cornered leek

@@homosexualpanic What does 3 cornered mean? The leaves or the bulb? My bulbs are nice and round like a marble.

@@susanp102 I don’t think it’s a leek, I have the same type you are talking about and it’s really good and completely edible, they have long, circular, hollow leaves full of liquid.

That was very useful and to the point. Thanks, I was unaware of the chance of easy misidentification.

Some great advice. I had no idea bluebells were a protected species! One of the farmers in the area used to have a field full of bluebells but recently ploughed them all up. I wonder if he got permission.
