cool. all my critical inner voices are based in trauma by verbal abuse, and trying to tackle those thoughts makes me extremely anxious. And therapists I've seen routinely spoke out against me doing trauma therapy. How do I get rid of these voices that are rooted in trauma without doing trauma therapy? I can do the shifts in perspective in every other area in life easily by now but those specific thoughts.... Like "your dad never amounted to anything, you are gonna end up like your dad" or "you're not talented enough to become professional in the field you like. you don't have the talent, the work ethic and you're not lucky enough in life anyways, so forget it", all these voices that come from people who traumatized me in my childhood. How the fuck am I supposed to throw these thoughts in the trash?

I can relate to those thoughts. Sometimes I'm able to silence them temporarily but then I notice they slowly creep in again so I think it's something you can work on slowly everyday. The thing that helped me the most was to stop feeling sorry for myself and instead be compassionate with my trauma and see it as something separate from the person I can become. Also, I let myself cry a lot and grieve that trauma. It just happened to us, It doesn't define who we are. Just imagine it like a cloud that passes through your brain. Observe it and tell yourself that you won't let it stop you. Hope it helped!

For anyone who’s going through this same difficulty as the person above, wondering how to get rid of these thoughts, especially when they come from outside. I too have had that situation where others are like “yeah just do it,” and I don’t know what to do or what that means. What helps me in that situation is to first, support the idea. Don’t try to understand what it means. Just support the idea of “throwing those thoughts in the trash” or the idea of “getting rid of those negative thoughts.” Just say a sentence like, “you know I really support the idea of dismissing those kinds of thoughts, because….” And proceed to justify it. Make something up. See how you feel after that. Sometimes you don’t need to understand how. If you support the idea of doing something, your brain sometimes takes care of the rest and it sort of takes hold. Also you can use anything as justification, or even try expressing support and not even justify it. Even - “I support that idea because I just do.” Or “ I think it’s a really good idea because I support it lately” (circular things like that work just as well) It’s weird but it’s working with the subconscious, It’s like an ‘allowing,’ to get rid of those thoughts, rather than an active forcing or throwing them. Hope that makes sense - or hope it works for you, rather!

So doubts can be the critical voice. (?)

Probably. She calls it "critical inner voice" which is just a user friendly way of saying a programmed/imprinted survival instinct cultivated through early childhood development. We all have a critical inner voice that tells us, "don't eat that... it may not be fresh enough... you may get food poisoning..." which help us to avoid illness, hence survive. But sometimes it is so overdeveloped due to childhood trauma/negative experiences growing up, that it expands too far, criticizing things during times of frustration or stress that may not necessitate it. For example... getting into a dispute with a loved one, and instead of taking moderate responsibility for your part in the dispute you overreach and self blame to the point of self loathing and depression. (And that's counterproductive...)
