To everyone in the comments...criminals ALREADY know how to do this, that’s why these type of locks should only be used inside. Outside doors should have deadbolts.
No they don't really all the would be criminal out there is like na I already knew that....bull shit but thanks thoe now I can stop breaking so many windows and try this method.
People who complain about criminals using this, criminals DON'T need this they already know how to get in if they want. Thank you for this in case I did get locked out.
I just got a new flat screen for free, that I seen my neighbor get delivered to his place 2 days ago Using this method It's his own fault for not having a deadbolt Do you have a video for that, how to open deadbolts, to give more of a variety of stuff to steal Also any videos on how to open bike u-locks silently It's not a kryptonite with a round key, or i would just use a bic pen to open it I got my eye on a really nice bike, but bolt cutters won't even dent his lock Thanks
Flawed demo. Only indoor locks work with this method, and only if the door fits loosely in the jamb. Outdoor handsets, like the one shown at 4:00 have a pin behind the latch (ignore the deadbolt). When the door is closed, this pin retracts into the handset, preventing the latch from being pushed aside with a tool. Check your own locks and see for yourself.
Okay , so you do a good deed and help your neighbor who has locked himself out ,now one day someone break into his home, who do you think is going to be his first suspect?????.
Mee too u save my life becuz my mom has no keys and i didn't have keys either my mom was so angry and I manage to open it because of your tricks thanks so much!!!😉😉
People freaking out ought to stop a minute and realize that they have potentially just been made aware of a dangerous security flaw they previously did not know existed - and that this man has provided a method to quickly fix. He didn't invent crap locks, he showed you something important you did not know. Be angry with the manufacturers who play on your assumptions and the fact you, apparently, are not as detail-oriented as you ought to be, and perhaps lean toward an unconstructive reactionary response to new problems - a mindset demonstrated to have been used by history's great tyrants to drape themselves in power. You are dragging us all down, with your with-hunting mindsets and support of globally significant security policies that go along with it. We are not your enemies, we're just living differently and you are being sold a pack of lies that we are out to get you, in the end only to further the greedy despotism of a comparatively few people who have demonstrated already their shocking, and ultimately homicidal methods (if that's what it takes, and believe me, ultimately that is what it takes) that include passively letting disease ravage those whom they've sworn to protect and the act of aggressive warmaking including the targeting of civilians. Please, choose democracy, choose life and consider that you may have been wrong about Trump, his idol Putin and most of all, yourself. And no, that didn't feel good or I'd do it all the time. It's awful and we're just as scared as you. America cannot become an authoritarian power, you know that much I'll venture.
🤔Hmmm...is this(your statement/comment) why you're here/why you're watching it as well...just curious?🤔 By the way...I'm not attempting to trigger you; I'm just curious...for it seems you know what thieves admire.🤔
Ok I’m just going to add that if you thoroughly watch his video, that is to say watch it to its completion, you will discover as I did that he in fact is making the video as a sort of PSA. He warns the public to not use these simple door 🚪 locking mechanisms & in turn recommends the additional use of a bolt-lock. So yeah initially (this was while I was still watching the video) I was in total agreement & afterwards I felt a whole other way.
@@bz3086 it works on garage to house doors or flimsy locks to outdoors, always have more than one lock to prevent intruders ease of access. Also put metal rods or screw drivers in the garage door track to prevent it being raised.
They probably know this already . Unless they're un-intelligent or have severe memory loss? Then them seeing this video might re-introduce them into a life of crime. Very sad-😵💫
This is called the fireman's friend, available on Amazon, along with lock pick sets . When I was a firefighter we had more than a few shady characters show us how to discretely enter houses. If a dishonest person wants into your house they will easily enter it.
I was famous, in my workplace, for opening locked conference rooms with my ID badge. Faster than calling security, and it gave me a colorful reputation.
Any dog will stop burglars if they start raising hell. Burgulars hate to deal with early warning system of a dog barking, They hate dogs but love your Window bars.
Thank you. I'm going to make one of these and walk my neighborhood tonight and look for doors without a dead bolt. Just kidding, but I have to wonder how many seeing this video might be seriously thinking that.
Unless a hack saw blade or a sledge hammer are handy. Not for burglary purposes , getting door open to evacuate people ,pets, birds.is best . Even a wrecking bar will do the trick. Probably door and door frame need replacement after, but it'll get the job done and faster.
Most locking latches are like the one in the mockup door section, specifically engineered to defeat this trick..... They have that little half cylinder beside the latch. When the door is closed, the striker plate holds the little half-cylinder back, and the lock mechanism will not allow the latch to slide back as it did to allow the door to close. At the end of the video, he is trying to show us how the plastic will push in the latch on the mockup, but it seems not to be going in. He likes to ignore that. This trick only works for cheap latches without the half-cylinder protection mechanism.
locksmith here, if you look at the latch or tongue of that knob set fitted to the block of timber, on the latches flat side there is a small semi cylindrical pin. Even the cheapest locks have this feature these days, it is a deadlocking mechanism. If fitted correctly, it will stay pushed in by the door jam while the rest of the latch slips into the hole in the frame. It must be fitted correctly for this to be the case for as of it slips into the hole in the door frame with the rest of the tongue from incorrect fittment this ‘shimming’ trick will work. If the lock is fitted correctly you won’t open the door this way as the latch will become deadlocked on closing meaning no external force outside of the lock will move the latch/tongue in. It will be locked into the door frame. If you can open an external door with this method, get a locksmith out to fix it. If adjusted to a correct fitment, no one can gain entry to your home or property this easily. Cheers
They probably made these door handle locks like this in case children or elderly get locked in restrooms or any room by mistake . so i think they're legal.
This trick is so old, as a locksmith, we used this trick way back in the 60's in the UK. As you can see, the key only locks the movement of the knob, not the action of the lock. If your house is fitted with this type of security, I guarantee that you don't own your house. Otherwise change your locks. Bye and large, Insurance companies will not insure your house with this kind of security. Especially, on outside doors. Secondly, the use of door knobs, is not a UK practice, a person using a door like that, would constantly be hurting their hands pulling the door closed, unless the Lock/Latch was at least 3 1/2 inches away from the lock side of the door, as you can see not possible with this door. As a result, door handles are considered to be a better choice rather than knobs. Thirdly, any would be intruder, would just simply break the glass in this door, to gain entry.
i hope there is not a lot of criminals watching this video,so make sure you have a deadbolt on your door.Or you can put a sign on your door that says "you are being recorded,I know who you are and i know where you live,i own a gun and a shovel".
I don't like this at all !!! I spent a lot of money putting on new doors and locks because my husband's kids steals everything we have especially my things. All my family gave me. My husband their dad died from cancer and now I have very little left in my retirement years including all my clothes. That happened when I was in the hospital from a fall. They are the most horrible people I have ever known except my ex-husband. He didn't steal he was the biggest lier on earth. I do have ATD now but have given up.on trying to have anything any more. So I don't like this.
It popped open because the small auxiliary latch was too far into the strike, or there was no auxiliary latch at all. The small "auxiliary" latch on the knob's latchbolt is supposed to hit the striker, but not go into the striker's hole. If the small latch goes into the hole, then the latchbolt is vulnerable to what you just witnessed. If the auxiliary latch stays on the striker's face and depressed, it won't allow the latchbolt to be pushed in.
How is possible in the 21st century, so many people don't even understand how simple door locks work. This trick been around since locks first invented.
When the the bolt is properly engaged on the strike plate, the anti-jimmy (the small thing on the back of the bolt) prevents the latch from being depressed on modern locks made since the 90's. If the lock is improperly installed then both the bolt and the Jimmy go into the strike plate or the Jimmy sits to far away to properly engage. Try it yourself by pressing in the Jimmy while the door is open then try and press the bolt.
These types of basically "minor secure" locks are mostly on inside /room to room doors and not intended to be held fat for self protection much. They are good for their purpose which is to establish a modicum of personal privacy in a dwelling...bathrooms etc .to keep people from just being able to walk in easily This tip is highly useful for parents of children who get themselves accidentally locked in a bathroom etc and cat get out.. .Remember to use quality secure deadbolts ( I personally prefer with inside and outside key access) on entry and garage access doors .An don't cheap out when it comes to entry doors to your home.. heavy quality constructed sold wooden doors with minimal window features may prevent or ward off a burglary of your home Thieves will seek easier pickings if they must work too hard or take too much risk at being seen .
The lock that you are showing with the deadbolt lock above will not open the way you showed. When the door is closed that pin in the latch gets depressed and turns the latch into a dead latch which cannot be pushed in. In the old days the door knob lock didn't have the lock latch feature, but all locking doorknobs have it which cannot be opened the way you show.
We locked the keys inside a locked room in our house and ended up calling a locksmith. Goodbye $170 for like 5 minutes of work. Two weeks later it happens again. Not wanting to further contribute to the locksmith's Tahiti vacation fund, I searched RU-vid and discovered this video. Took a few minutes but voila, I got it. GOD BLESS YOU! And sorry Mr. Locksmith dude.
You’re about 25 years too late with this comment. We are in the digital age, everything is available now…..Every “how to” is online. Everyone can be an expert at learning things, including breaking into doors 🚪 locks 🔐
@@catherinenelson4162 I don't think so. At the end, he showed the bottom lock the hack works on. It won't work on a deadbolt. At least that's how I understand it.
I changed my locks including dead bolt I still had unwanted company when not there. Breaking my stuff and stealing it. So they can get past dead bolt shaved keys somehow I just know how they do it
Thanks a lot my friend !!! It was a life saver for me today. The locksmiths were trying to rip me off for this. They were asking 165$ for this simple work after making me wait for 2 hours! They had trapped me in a way that I had no way than to accept for it. Hopelessly I watched this video and boom!! This was a miracle ! I am so thankful to you my friend!!
