Why is the comment section grilling this man! Lol. Savage. Nonetheless, you drilled out the bit. Not uncommon. The only thing that hurt my eyes was coin mechs have a release lever. Why you unscrewed it to get the coins out is beyond me.

What you should have done is drive by a locksmith’s shop on your way home from picking the machine up. Pay them $5-$10 and they’ll pick the lock and make you a new key for it.

Can u replace the lock on any vending machine if owner lost key

So you bought the machine just to see how much change was in it? Are you going to use the machine still? Doesn't seem worth it at all

For $17 you could have bought a tubular impression lock pick and had that open in 3 seconds.

"31 dollars and 5 cents... Not a bad pick up!" Are you joking? Maybe if you did it at the location, but how much time did you waste? What about the expense of having to buy new drill bits? Let's not forget that you're now stuck with either having to store a useless, antiquated snack machine, or having to disposed of it... Again, your time and $$$ I would have tried picking the lock using a 7-pin Tubular Cam-Lock tool first, at the location... You could have spilt the 31 dollars & 5 cents with owner, and then left him with having to deal with the machine
