A + Safe & Lock 501-450-0441 Dialing instructions for unlocking a 3 wheel Sentry Safe combination lock. If your combination consists of 3 numbers, you have a 3 wheel lock and these directions are for your Sentry Safe.
This lock dials exactly the same as the combination lock most people had on their locker in high school; which is also the same way you dial masterlock combination padlocks.
Hi, I work at a golf course, and we found a Sentry 125 in what used to be the Proshop but is now the cart shack. Unfortunately we cannot open it, the only person who had the combo passed away 6 years ago, and now that we know it is down in the other building we are interested in using it in our new proshop, is there anyway to recover the combo and reuse the safe? Or is it just a wash?
Charlie_Tango_0813 Hi. Not a total loss. Combo can likely be retrieved from Sentry, or by a locksmith. I don't know where you are located, but any reputable locksmith in the area should have an account with Sentry and be able to obtain the combo upon verification of your ownership. Thanks for watching!
Hi Shykes, thanks for taking a look at our video. Try to do the rotations opposite to what I suggest in this video. Sentry has produced safes that open in alternate dial rotations, so try it with Left-Right-left, as well as Right-left-right. Good luck!
I have my step dads safe its about 6 ft tall maybe 3 ft wide or so. Its dark green and says sentry on the front. He just died a Today well yesterday and we are all trying to see if he has a will somewhere. Will that code work for his?? The dial is on top and there is a knob on the bottom about 6-8 inches under the combonation lock
Thanks for checking out our video Porkypig26! No, the code that we used in this video was just for example. Sentry uses random codes on their safes so if you do not know the combination you need to contact a local locksmith or Sentry to get the combination. Good luck!
Hello,I just purchased e sentry safe from a private sale and accidentally moved the dial knob to many times and won't open any more the combination got stuck inside the safe, any ideas except taking it to a locksmith
Hi Gjergji, thanks for taking the time to check out our video! Unfortunately, if you do not have any idea what the combination is you will have to either contact a local locksmith or contact Sentry Safe directly. On their website there is a page for requesting a lost combination. You can fill out a form and pay them and they will send the combination directly to you. Hope this helps. Good luck!
Thanks for checking out our video! You will need to enter the combination to unlock the safe as if the door is closed, then you will be able to close it and operate as normal again.
Great Video.. - My Sentry 1230 -which looks a lot like your safe- is open, but I do not know the combo.. - What are my options? Do I need a change key while I access the back of the lock inside the safe? - Thanks for sharing what you know..
Hi Watcherman, thanks for checking out our video! Here are a couple options off the top of my head. First, you can request a combination via Sentry's website using the form provided there. Alternatively, if you remove the cover on the inside of the door, you can see the wheels and visually determine the combination and record it as you go. No change key or special tools are required, but it can be a little bit difficult to remove that cover with the bolts extended. Good luck!
The sentry 1250 user manual says you start out with counter clockwise turns. I have a safe I've had for 23 years that I haven't opened a lot in the past 10 years so I'm having trouble remembering the number. I think if I knew the direction id be better off.
Hi caltch, thanks for checking out our video! Sentry has used combinations that start both to the left and the right over the years. My first recommendation to people who call is to try their combination in both directions. However, if you do not know the combination to the safe, the direction of rotation will not help. You will need to visit the Sentry safe website to request a lost combination, or contact a local locksmith who will be able to get that combination for you. Good luck!
@@Aplussafeandlock Thanks I don't think sentry can help me with the original Combination because I did change it when I first got it. They may be able to tell me the rotation though. I think I last opened it like 5 years ago. It's in my head somewhere hoping it will come back if not I'll drill a hole to see the tumblers or take a cut wheel to the hinges. Thanks for replying.
@@caltch You're welcome, any time! You are correct, if you changed the combo then Sentry can't help anymore. If it doesn't come to mind, drilling is an option as well as the process of elimination, which is a time consuming but less invasive approach. Cutting the hinges will not open it for you because there is a bolt on the hinge edge of the door to prevent that type of attack. Just wanted to save you a little work and disappointment! 🙂
Hi there, and thanks for taking a look at our video. If you do not know the combination, you will have to get it from the manufacturer. This can be done in at least 2 ways. You can go to the Sentry Safe website where they have a form to fill out to request a lost combination. If you are unable to provide the needed information, a good local locksmith will have an account with Sentry that allows them to obtain combinations once they verify ownership by alternative methods. These are my two recommendations to anyone in your situation! Good luck!
Hi James, thanks for checking out our video! If you have lost the combination you have a variety of options depending upon the kind of safe you have. The obvious one is to contact a good locksmith/safe technician which will be able to open it for you. Some manufacturers retain factory codes and you can contact them through their website in many cases to obtain a master reset code. From there, your options start getting pretty destructive! We are located in Arkansas and if you are in that region we would be glad to help you get it open. Good luck!
So it doesn’t matter which way you go, L-R-L or R-L-R? Because the card that came with the safe says L-R-L but the pdf manual I downloaded (Sentry S0310) says R-L-R. Either way it’s no longer opening for some reason (card has the combination on it).. 😕
Hi HailAnts, thanks for checking out our video. YES it does matter which directions you rotate. Sentry manufactured safes that go both directions over the years. If yours previously opened according to the instructions you have, that is the way it should continue to be used. Make sure you are counting carefully the rotations, that is often where the problems arise. Good luck!
I have a Sentry fireproof safe that is unlocked but I do not have the combination I removed the metal plate on the inside of the door and it shows the three wheels I wanted to know if there is a way that I can determine the combination bye manipulating the wheels and recording the numbers when it lines up with the lock bar? You have three wheels one closest to the door one closest to the inside of the safe when the door is closed which one of those dials is the last number since it is unlocked I know that is a five.
Hi Larrrs3, thanks for checking out our video. Yes, you can determine the combination by watching the wheels. Start by rotating the dial 3 times in one direction, then proceeding around until the gate in the wheel closest to the exterior face of the door lines up with the tail of the bolt work. Then proceed to rotate the dial in the opposite direct until the gate in the middle wheel is in the same position. Finally, rotate again in the opposite direction until the gate in the wheel closest to the interior wall of the safe is in the same position and you will have the combination! Good luck!
Glad to hear it Toni! Thanks for taking a look and letting us know about your success. Sentry made combinations that start in either direction over the year, which I should have emphasized in this video, but I'm glad you figured it out!
I have a Sentry 1250.. I have the combo.. and it just won't open. It's older and my uncle needs to get his trailer title out of it. Any suggestions? I tried holding the door in, pulling on the combo wheel as I turned it... nothing.
Hi Brandy, thanks for checking out our video. Assuming you have 3 numbers in your combination, follow the instructions in this video carefully. Make sure you count the rotation every time you see the number you are heading for at the dialing index. Make sure that if there is a key involved, you have that unlocked as well. If the instructions I gave in this video don't work, try entering the combo using the opposite directions. For example, if I said the order of rotation was left, right, left, try it right, left, right. The same number of rotations, just the opposite directions. I hope you are able to get it open, good luck! Let me know if I can provide any further assistance.
I have a 1250 that I forgot the combo to from not using the safe much but the sentry ownsers manual for the 1250 says you turn counterclockwise or left for the first number not right like in this video.
I have a sentry safe some where we lost the combination to the is there a way to figure it out. in the safe is my wife and i Marriage license would that suffice to proof of ownership?
Hi ohead rider, thanks for checking out our video! I strongly discourage attempting to change the combination on a Sentry Safe as it is not intended to be changed. However, it can be accomplished by remove the cover from the door and taking the nut off the end of the spindle. If you rotate the back wheel to a different position it will change the combination. Again, this is not intended to be done by the manufacturer and strongly discouraged!
My safe is almost identical but has no key hole. It's a 3 wheel and it's locked OPEN. The dial won't turn and the handle is in the down position. We need to be able to lock it back. Any thoughts?
Hey Band it, thanks for checking out our video! There is usually a plastic detent on the hinge edge of the door that releases the bolts so you can extend them when the door is closed. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE COMBINATION BEFORE YOU CLOSE THE DOOR! You can manually release the bolts so you can lift the handle with the door open if you push that button in with you finger. It's usually triangular in shape. Hope this helps!
@@rhondabreu9827 Hi Rhonda, sorry for your loss. Unfortunately you will have to have the combination as well in order to open it. There is a form on the Sentry Safe website that you can use to request the combination from the manufacturer. Alternatively, you can contact a good local safe technician who will be able to get the combination from Sentry as well. Good luck and thanks for checking out our video!
Joanna Ford Hi. To my knowledge Sentry does not supply replacement locks. It is very unusual, apart from significant abuse, for these locks to wear out. it is possible the nut has just worked loose?
A+ Safe & Lock LLC yes or it could be jammed. I bought him a new one and I want to use this old one for myself. Thanks for your info. I'm gonna try a lube maybe. My daughter can fix anything and I asked her to look at it. I have your phone no and if I need help can I call ?
Joanna Ford You bet. Remove inside door cover and you will see the lock. Very simple mechanism in this case, one lock nut on the spindle that holds the wheel pack together. this occasionally works loose, so that would be my first suggestion to check.
You will want to go the the Sentry Safe website and submit a lost combination request. They are the only ones that have the factory combination. Good luck!
i know the combo, i dont need to reset. my problem is the cheap plastic dial that dials the rod that locks it. its a cheapo sentry document fire safe w key pad and dial. i couldnt dial it easily, i had indeed had to push the door and had a hard time shutting it when my husband died i opened to put his death certificate in it. i needed it for appointment at ssi office and couldnt grip it good enough to open it...so i got a pair of pliars to get a good grip and turned it and stripped it, i suspect a plastic pin thru a metal rod broke off? or plastic gears? the dial is free flowing now. ive tried putting pressure on it to get it to catch to no avail. next plan is to take a screw driver and pop off that dial. so somebody give me a shout if that's a mistake.
Hi Rae, thanks for your interest in our video. It sounds like you have a major failure with your safe. I would suggest you contact a local reputable locksmith for diagnosis and opening. It may be that more damage will further complicate the opening, making it more expensive! I can't say for certain what has failed without feeling it, but your suspicion about the dial breaking free from the spindle sounds likely. Good luck!
thanks i got it open i popped the entire plastic piece off so i coukd get under the dial, popped it off and entered code, when it clicked i used screw driver to slide the 2 poles open! i will later rig up something to replace the dial. not bad for a 58 yr old gal huh?
Maximo Peralta Hi, and thank you for your interest in our video. Can you please provide a little more detail of your problem? Do you have a combination? Do you have a key?
Hi Brooklyn, thanks for checking out our video! The safe may be broken, or it may just be locked. I would attempt to enter the combination again and then try to turn the handle.
@@Aplussafeandlock Thank you! No problem turning the handle and the bars open and close now, however it seems the key hole doesn't stay flush (flat) as it should when locked but yet I am unable to turn the combination knob? Can these type safes be repaired. A locksmith? I hope so, it's bolted down.
@@brooklynn52dee38 the dial will not turn while the bolts are retracted, only when they are extended. The same with the key lock. As long as you have the keys and the combination, you should be safe to close the door and lock it, after which you should be able to turn the dial and push in the key lock. If you are not sure about either the key or the combo, do not close and lock the door. Find the little trigger along the edge of the door that will release the bolts so they extend and test both key and combo with the door open to save yourself a lot of trouble!
@@Aplussafeandlock Thank you! I just read this as I was trying to lock the safe. I got it. I had to hold the handle way up, thought I would break it, don't remember having to push it up so far and hold it tight? It locked and yes, the combination turns. I have had this safe for years, maybe just a bad day yesterday? Let's hope all is ok now! Thank you for all your time! I appreciate that more than you know!! BTW, I'm saving this vid!
Valorie Markham Thank you for your interest in our video. Yes, the back cover can be removed if the safe is open, and the combination can be visually obtained. I don't know where you are located, but any locksmith should be able to do this. You will save a little money by bringing the safe to them. Have a great weekend!
Mine not working.. I've tried 10 times... put the dial on 0 turn clockwise to right 2 times past the number and on the 3rd time around.. stop on first number.. turn dial to left counter clockwise and go past 2nd number once and stop on 2nd number on 2nd time.. now to the right clockwise to the 3rd number... will not open... I'm trying to get my Sentry 1230 safe open... I'm stuck..
Thanks for checking out our video! If it is not working with the method demonstrated in this video, try it using rotations in the opposite direction. So start turning counterclockwise, then clockwise, then counterclockwise. Sentry made them work in both directions over the years, so maybe this will get it open!
@@Aplussafeandlock I found information from Sentry.. Evidently before 2011, they set their combinations up as L-R-L and after 2011, they set them up as R-L-R I squirt some WD-40 on the dial (most went down to the floor), but it helped and I was able to get it opened... Mine worked by setting the dial on 0 and then turning to the left 3 times past the 0 and then on the first number.. then right once past the 2nd number and then stop on the 2nd number .. then left to the 3rd number.. Tahnks
Yes sir, Sentry has made them operate both directions over the years which I should have mentioned in the video, but I was an amateur when I made this one! 😅 Thanks for the feed back and I'm glad it was useful to you!
@@Aplussafeandlock No worries, it certainly got me going in the right direction...& luckily I looked through the comments section & someone mentioned the possibility of it being Left Right Left...so it all worked out in the end. It was ABSOLUTELY useful regardless though...as I normally only keep my safe in a position where I only need to remember the last digit (rookie shit, I know lol)...& so when I realized I had apparently moved the dial too much to only put in the last digit...I was in a PANIC! as I just got home from work & all my most important items (including medicine I needed ASAP) were locked up...so your video was a lifesaver once I figured out that all your advice would apply to mine in the opposite direction. Anyways I guess you're still at it & making videos on your channel? If so, ill give you a sub & check your other videos out. P.S. Is it possible to CHANGE (or costumize) THE COMBINATION on the Sentries we've been discussing? Do you have any videos on that subject?
Yes, they can be opened without a combination with the appropriate tools and knowledge. However, with a Sentry Safe, the best option to retrieve a lost combination is usually to contact the manufacturer and request it.
@@fullpower3371 that is not technically correct, but I can understand why someone might believe that. Thanks for checking out our video and have a great weekend!
Hi Danny, thanks for checking out our video! Usually a Sentry with a key and keypad works the same as you see in this video. Unlock the key so the cylinder pops out of the face of the safe, enter the combination, and turn the handle. This will open most of them. Thanks again!
