@@Eww123 I ended up accidentally tearing wires to the speaker box on the inside that makes the little beep noise upon activation, that & the ribbon wire connected to the disc drive, it allows power to the on/off button was tedious to either take out or put back in. But for anyone who’s capable & if your careful, it’s not hard at all.
For anyone wondering, Once you take the rib ion cable off, take the front casing off the top of Xbox. It’s easier then trying to put it back on with the top and front screen n together. It’s also easier if you push the little clip out all the way without breaking it. 6:44 (that clip). You can put the ribbon cable back in easier. All in all I think everyone should give this a try and definitely clean the Xbox. Don’t be scared at all. It was my first time after 6 years of having my Xbox and I never broke a single part and just took everything off carefully. Put the screws in a bowl don’t lose them. Tools you will need though is: T8 Tork T10 Tork Flat screw driver. (Tiny is best) bigger screw drivers break plastic.
@@jaydenyeates7116 hopefully that made sense to you. Let me know how it goes! It’s very easy. May take an hour or so. Just be careful putting that together
Since nobody seems to have mentioned it: The ZIF (zero insertion force) socket the ribbon cable is connected by, has the locking mechanism briefly shown but not properly explained. To release the ribbon you pull out gently on BOTH sides of the locking mechanism (the darker tan part), which unlocks it. The cable can then be removed with nearly "Zero Force", and without damage. When reconnecting, this lock must be unlocked as well, and should require again zero insertion force to put it back in. The trick is when putting the ribbon back in it often will push the locking arm back in part way if you're not careful (it's an easy mistake to make) so it helps to hold out on the lock gently while sliding the ribbon cable back in. Then simply push the lock closed again. Hope this helps all the people who were having trouble reassembling.
Tip for anyone with problems with the top cover: You can unclip the top cover and the panel with the Xbox button on it from eachother. Put the top cover on first, then get the front panel and put the ribbon cable in. Put the bottom clips of the front panel in first and then the top Helped me out hopefully it helps you too
Dude I know it’s been almost a year since you posted this but goddamn what a headache you just saved me. Was so annoying trying to fit the whole thing over, didn’t even notice those clips 😂
Trust me you should do it just make sure you don't unplug the cables in the front and you will be able to reach the fan and the vents my vents we're just about clogged
Red Eclipse I wouldn’t if I was you putting it back on is the hard part and trying not to break your ribbon at the same time. Microsoft has designed Xbox ones appallingly and when someone does a video and not shows you how to correctly put it back on......
Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video. Very clear instructions that really help save you from shipping off for expensive repair. People, if your good mechanically and have patience. It's no problem.
I just want to say as a 1st timer taking apart any console this is the best described video I've seen. Thank you for all the explanation and the help of everything .
Thank you for the detailed description and discreet instructions on how to do everything along with specific screw driver sizes as well as crew locations. Really appreciate your time doing this!
@@Blue-vd6bv Yeah, to a point, but putting the top of the case back on is proving to be a problem for me right now, i can't get the angle to push the side down onto the clips.
I didn't have the screwdriver required to do the job and I told myself I wasn't spending anymore money on this thing so I broke the top plastic piece and then started punching the top metal part. Good video though, very explanatory and easy to understand.
Lol 😂 very helpful a lot easier than expected! I really had no choice after the console wouldn’t turn on anymore, so might as well just take a stab at it. I got it to work, lining up the cd tray was tricky but I got it to work. Anyways cheers!
I just did mine. And however now my touch buttons don't work, and the eject sound keeps beeping, I am sure I connected the ribbon back in place and didn't break it. But any ideas would be helpful
I've used the heat gun method on these without failure, i use a small electric heat gun and a sharp very small screwdriver to start one edge, then i heat it again and use tweezers to carefully pull the sticker off once an ENTIRE short edge has been lifted. They are cut in the corners so it will part slightly at the corner when youre lifting it but as long as you dont allow it to continue and you get a whole short edge off then it comes off fairly easy. The 360 one however is much easier to remove.
@@Charlie-kt6sx do uk what to do to your power brick cause i did mine correctly but now my fuckin power brick is just stuck on orange 🤦♂️ it wasnt doing that until i took it apart and put it back together
T Gwap open it up and check if it’s snapped if not u can re attatch it don’t worry search up somebody putting it back on that’s what I did and my Xbox was perfectly fine
@@Charlie-kt6sx i got the cover on before and the xbox wouldnt turn on using the power button is the xbox done for after that ? Or is there a way to fix it ?
Cheers geezer. You made it really simple and straightforward. I went in to find out why the WiFi wasn't working after being told that somebody had already had a go. Only turns out that they hadn't connected the antenna and possibly not the module either though it could just be that the connector came away to easily when I lifted the fan grill up.
I dropped this brick about a foot a while ago. It unhinged all the clips and now I realize it almost ripped the ribbon cable. But all these parts broke open, so I pushed em back together. Works ok, but I'm gonna clean now! Thank you good video
About to clean mine since 2015😩🤣 EDIT:: Just finished inbetween sorting the kids and dog and have to say it was actually less stressful than I thought apart from refitting that cable on the face plate🤦🏼🤣 but she’s back on and running beautifully and now I’m considering a ssd upgrade! But I can’t thankyou enough bro helped me a while ago with a modded ps3 with some cfw issues I was having and now with the Xbox lol and saved the warranty sticker lol

Thanks a bunch mate. Owning a gaming pc I know full well what kinda unholy gack builds up in there and the fact they make it so awkward to clean for the Xbox really gets on my wick.
Thanks. My fan made a bad noise every time it got hot. After watching your tutorial, I took it apart and found someone (probably one of my kids) had pushed down on the top and broke one of the arms supporting the fan. I fixed it and I'm good to go.
For the front ribbon display cable I found it easier to put the console at the edge of the table and look underneath the cover you see every thing better
Ok. 1st, great video! Awesome DIY video. Word of caution if your like me and never done this. That wifi/bluetooth wire that "pops off" comes directly out and away from the green board. Be very careful because if the wire comes out of that end pice you will have a hell of a time getting it back on. I'm still trying to get it back together.
Hey dude thank you so much my guy. I've seen many different videos and I have to say that you are a very detail listick person ,which is great. It allowed me to open my Xbox one without any problem. there's a part in the video when you're explaining, taking off the top of the console and there's a ribbon cable wire that's connected to the face of the console. And if you didn't explain it to me the way you did about this ribbon cable, I can assure you, it would've been a catastrophe. Broken, no more good, stressed out, Percocets. LMAO 🤣 😂 So thank you very much for this video my guy 🔥 💯✅😂
The blue ribbon was not an issue at all. I had a terrible time trying to get the front to clip back together after I was done. Oh and I used a razor blade for the warranty sticker. Worked wonderfully. Gotta use the double sided shaving razor because it’s thin and flexible, so be careful pls!
Honestly I’m really glad I watch this video because I just want to do basic cleaning. I stopped after I took the lid off per se just so I can clean the fan area. and for anyone who does plan on watching this watch what he does before you do it so that way you can get feedback of what not to do and why, honestly I thought this video was pretty helpful for knowing how to not damage my console
WD-40 will take any sticker off if you let it soak btw !! you’ll need to let it dry out after (n obviously use a small ass amount against your console). you’ll also need to get new adhesive for the sticker, but it will literally be in perfect condition. this video helped lots tho tysm :)
Thank u so much I woke up this morning and I kicked the Xbox on accident and the front panel fell off and I didn't know what to do but this really helped and now I can play my Xbox 😀
ive always vaccuumed kept my day one clean n have gone thru 2 power supplies currently using a 360 power supply as the 3rd but still finally now 2024 it needs to be opened up. thanks for the video
“There’s a way to get the warranty sticker off without damaging it, which is to use a hair dryer” *pulls out a blowtorch* Me: Who dries their hair with a blowtorch?
Just so everyone know. Warranty stickers are now illegal here in the U.S. You cannot void your warranty anymore by removing or messing with the "sticker". If you find warranty stickers inside of any electronics, you should report them to the FTC.
I wish he would’ve said how to put it back together. I mean, I can. It’s just getting the frame put back together with the power button is clipping that front part in.
Pro tip: you see those other 2 antenna connection ports on your wifi card; well you can actually boost the wifi read on your console if you get another antenna say from an old wifi router, the result is a much more responsive data stream. Smoother online gaming less connection timeout
So mine decided to finally stop working in the sense that it turns on for a second and then immedietly switches off again. Some other videos suggest that it's the hard drive. If it is I'll be lucky as the memory on the hard drive was good for only 4 or 5 games and all my other games are on an external hard drive. The fan is dirty too, so I'll have an opportunity to clean that too. I haven't disassebled it completely yet as my mom is concerned I'll break it and someone more professional is going to come over to have a look. So far I've come to the point where I unscrewed the wifi board.
I just got from someone i know their xbox one and they didnt take care of it like at all something is rattling inside the layer of dust and grime on it you could build a palace with for dust mites and i am actually kinda surprised the thing still booted up
