Did you know that there is both a right way and a wrong way to open and close a nose ring? One way makes it easy and relatively painless, and the other way is the way of frustration.

It’s not that easy when it’s on your nose! Lol

Oh no! Such a solid learning lesson though - this is a lot easier to do when it isn't already in your nose. I often recommend going to a professional piercer for a jewelry change (some charge, some don't). Though I also understand that this has been harder to do during COVID. I hope you're able to get it out

i opened it the right way but since my piercing is still tender and it hurts to move its so hard to bend it back :C i might just take it out and put a L shaped stud on

Hi Sara! Sorry for the delay. and bummer that your piercing is still tender. I often recommend going to a professional piercer for some jewelry changes (especially for thicker gauges as they can be harder to open and close). Or you could get yourself a pair of small needle nose pliers to make it easier to open and close.

I'm sorry to hear that! What kind of metal is your nose ring made of? Something titanium or stainless steel will be harder to close, and if its a gauge above 18 ga, the thicker metal can also make it harder to close. You might need a pair of flat or chain nose pliers to help you close it.

try turning to the outside of your nose and using pliers. mini ones are easier but either works

omg i pulled mines the wrong way- how can i close it?
@SharonZJewelry
@SharonZJewelry 3 года назад
Hi! First, you'll want to make it closed and round again while it is out of your piercing if possible. And always go slow and use gentle pressure. Use your fingers to the best of your ability to squeeze it back into a circle. One method that I find useful is to do that twisting action that I show in the video and twist it _gently_ back and forth while pressing it closed. Chain nose, Round nose or needle nose pliers can also help you do this. Once the ring is back in a circle, go ahead and do the twist open method and slip the ring back into your piercing. Hope this helps!

Hi how do I know what's the right size hoop for my nose?
@SharonZJewelry
@SharonZJewelry 3 года назад
Great question! It will be best if you use a ruler in metric and try to get the millimeter measurements, but if you only have the other kind of ruler, jut measure very carefully. What you'll want to do is line up the top edge of the first ruler line with your piercing and measure to the bottom of your nostril. This will be the minimum measurement you'll need to find the right diameter. After that, it is up to you whether you would like a nose ring that fits tightly or loosely. In other words, if you get a measurement of 8mm, you can choose to order something that is 8mm to fit very snugly, or something that is 10mm to be a little more open. Hope this helps!

What do I do if I opened it the wrong way? How do I close it again?
@SharonZJewelry
@SharonZJewelry 3 года назад
Hi Naomi! You can very gently press it back together into a circle, though it works best if the nose ring is out of your nose when you do this :) Then, once it is in a circle again, try my method of twisting it open. The key is to go slow and be patient and gentle. let me know how it goes!

I did it wrong and it isn't round anymore? Is there a way to get it round again?
@SharonZJewelry
@SharonZJewelry 6 месяцев назад
So sorry that happened! You would need to use special pliers to make it perfectly round again. Or if you bought it at a piercing shop, that same shop might be able to do it for you.

I did mine the wrong way and now I can’t get it out of my nose
@SharonZJewelry
@SharonZJewelry 3 года назад
Oh no! I recommend going to a professional piercer to have it taken out (some charge, some don't). I know that doing this has been harder to do during COVID and I hope you're able to get it out. You can also look into purchasing a small, inexpensive pair of needle nose pliers or chain nose pliers - sterilize them with some rubbing alcohol - and try twisting it out yourself, but a pro will be able to do it. Good luck!
