The drip tray contacts will get coffee build up between them. Take a dish brush and dish soap and clean between them really well. All those contact do is they complete a circuit when the drip tray is full of water, or in your case wet coffee grounds.

Thanks for this detailed description. Once the brew group is out, how do you clean inside of it? I'm not sure it's worth removing it. We have an Error 8 consistently, and it looks like coffee residue is caked up on the works at the bottom of the brew group. Used other online recommendations to clean it out from beneath, without removing, but not yet sure if it worked. Thanks.
@PartsGuruUSA
@PartsGuruUSA 10 лет назад
Error 8 is permanently by replacing the brew group piston o-rings and seals in the drainage valve. You will need to remove the brew group from the machine, take it apart and replace the seals to fix Error 8. It is a common problem in all Jura espresso machines.

Hello! I was so glad to find your site, and I'm hoping you can help me on finding correct parts for my Impressa S9 coffee machine which is at least 11 years old. I've called Jura and they said from the symptoms that the internal valve which switches over needs replacement. Thanks for this video and your help, Parts Guru. I recently received the message to change the filter on my S9. After replacing the filter, the screen informed me to "Fill System" / "Press Steam". Upon pressing the steam button I hear the water pump run for several seconds but nothing comes out of the steamer. I have attempted removing the filter, using hot water and removing the steamer attachments. As per Jura support, I have pressed the steam button many, many times and have only seen 1 drop of water very slowly work its way out of the steamer pipe. Following your video, I have opened up the machine but am still not seeing anything obvious. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks.
@PartsGuruUSA
@PartsGuruUSA 8 лет назад
+James Macauley Hi James, the machine's water passages are blocked with calcium sediments. Please stop using Clearyl water filters. They're expensive and more importantly ineffective and doesn't function as advertised. Jura recommends using the filter without the need to descale the machine. That's an effort to sell and promote Clearyl filters. Despite using the filter, these machines need to be descaled regularly every six months. Failure to do so leads to the accumulation of calcium deposits inside the water passages overtime and blocks the water flow. If you're able to get hot water through the water outlet then I recommend you descale the machine thoroughly. You can use Jura Descaling tablets, if you have them, or purchase our descaler. While you have the machine opened, please operate the machine and monitor the water flow from pump to boiler and so forth. See if you can find the blockage where water stops flowing. Please check the steam solenoid valve, membrane regulator, dispensing valve, and water pump. The filter removes other minerals from water but fails to remove calcium sediments. Jura primarily is a marketing company that gets these machines manufactured by Swiss company that also makes coffee machines for Siemens, AEG and other popular European brands. They're not technically familiar with the internal schematics and parts of these machines. They have outsourced a repair business in the US to a third party that repairs home appliances for Delonghi. This is a primary reason their US office won't sell parts to customers. The above is just to give you a brief background about Jura users. Hope it helps you make educated decision when looking to purchase coffee machines in future.

Hi Guru, I have a C5, it has been cleaned all OK but no coffee comes out of the spouts. Coffee grounds are bone dry and hot water runs into drip tray only. what do i need to look at
@PartsGuruUSA
@PartsGuruUSA 8 лет назад
Hello Evan, The brew group water inlet is clogged or blocked. If the water in the drip tray is warm then you'll need to check the water inlet on the drainage valve. Replace the drainage valve or the brew group seals and thoroughly clean out the brew group by disassembling it. We have a video posted on our channel that demonstrates how to rebuild the brew group. Also, check the magnetic valve metal needle that push opens the spring loaded valve with white actuator for allowing hot water into the brew group. If the metal pin is not aligned with the spring loaded actuator then hot water is also directed to the drip tray. Hope the above helps!

Hi Guru; My machine (Impressa s9) was in your shop a few months ago for strong metallic taste in coffee. Now I'm having a different issue I was wondering if you could help me with. There seems to be no pressure and coffee just barely drips, eventually a message comes on to Fill system/press steam. After that is done, goes back to select product but does not help with the drip. Milk gets frothed just fine and there is steam when you press steam button. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Guru, I recently bought a broken Jura XS90 in Japan. The Unit does not grind coffee and there is no liquid coming out of the coffee outlet. The steam unit on the left is working and also the cup hot water is working I have checked all the pipes. One in the back was lose, which I reconnected. I took out the brewing unit, dismantled it completely and cleaned it. The machine performs the following actions: - Switching on the unit will display "Heating Up" - After 5 minutes the display changes to "press rinse" - after pressing rinse, the brewing unit moves and you can hear some water pump moving. - After less than 1 minute, the display changes to "Select Product" - When selecting a product, the following happens: - 10 seconds quiet - 11 sec up to 30 sec brewing unit moves display " fill beans" hear the water pump brewing unit moves some steam is rising from the brewing unit No coffee is being ground. No coffee powder is being put into the brewing unit Please advise what I should check further or which part I should replace.

I just sent the above message to partsguru by mail as well and instantly got a message back. Their service is amazing... Here is PartsGuru's response: Buying a used or broken machine inherits its own past life secrets. The secret being you do not know details on the maintenance of the machine.Your efforts to revive appear to be very proper and made some functions re-start.Almost all Jura machines suffer from the use of expensive & ineffective Filter cartridges which do not prevent accumulation of Calcium deposits in the hydraulic system. Please know this and at some stage you have to manually descale the machine for aggressive & comprehensive descaling. Manually descaling instructions are on our website.The fill beans error means the beans are not fed into the grinder because the setting is too fine or the burrs are worn out and not grinding within time limit of 17 seconds. You may have to check & fix these. Very fine powdery grind does not make strong coffee. For adjustment of grind fineness, do not rely on the position of the knob. Feel the used coffee between the thumb & finger. It should not be finer than table salt Grain.To bypass the fill beans error, try pre-ground coffee and use slightly coarser coffee powder than table salt and see if brew group completes the cycle & makes espresso. This will localize the problem to the grinder. The grinder definitely needs good cleaning and possibly replacing the grinding burrs.Conclusion:1- Manually descale the machine to clean the system and2- Fix the grinderLet me know the results.Sincerely Edward - Technician Parts Guru

I have a Jura S9 one touch. When we turn the machine on in the morning, it trips the circuit breaker on the GFCI outlet. It does this mostly just when it does the steam release after the first rinse. But sometimes it's also doing it when the first cup is brewed (right after the beans grind). And sometimes, it doesn't do it at all (although most days, it does). We drink coffee all day but it's only that first morning start-up when this happens. Ever heard of this? Any ideas on what could be causing this? We run the cleaning cycles with the tablets all the time upon request from the machine, and always change the filters on time. Thanks for your help Parts Guru!
@rscheibner9823
@rscheibner9823 7 лет назад
Also - it only trips the circuit breaker once (usually - occasionally it happens twice). I wait about 30 seconds, push the reset button on the GFCI, turn the machine back on, and that's it. It works fine the rest of the day.

+R Scheibner Hello: there is couple of electrical components that you can inspect. Check the thermal fuse (blue wire with fuse) mounted onto the steam boiler. The other part to check is the transformer. It's located beside the pump on the inside. Please operate the machine with the rear panel removed. Ensure there's no water leaking from the steam solenoid valve or any other part on the transformer. Please operate it carefully. If you're not comfortable, you may send the machine to us for repairs.

I have a Jura Impressa C9. It's 2.5 years old. In September of 2014, still under warranty, I sent it in to Jura and they replaced the Brew Unit and the Membrane Regulator. Now, 15 months later, the unit makes more noise than normal when brewing. It takes quite a bit more time to make an 8oz cup of coffee. Grinder works fine. No leaks. Cappuccino maker works fine. Just very slow to actually produce the cup. I am handy with disassembly but not sure what to replace. I have only used purified RO water, ran Clean cycles, De-calcify cycle, etc. Can you help troubleshoot? Thanks!

+Parts Guru , Wanted to update you on the issue with my unit. The more I thought about it, knowing that everything was actually working, but just taking a lot longer to produce the cup of coffee, and the pump being a lot louder, I wanted to look to see if something was hindering the water from getting into the machine. Although I have only used purified RO water, and did the clean cycles, keeping the water tank clean, I removed the tank and looked closely at the place where the water flows from the tank into the machine. I saw a few tiny debris, so took my vacuum to such the dirt from the small screen. Well, the dirt did not move. I took a small plastic tool and when I tried to scrape the debris, it was stuck and gunky on the screen. I then proceeded to scrape it all together and using the vacuum, was able to get it off the screen. I then took hydrogen peroxide and put a little on the screen to help clean it. I waited a few minutes and them vacuumed it again. Lastly, I took my compressor and blew forced air onto the screen to make sure it was completely free of obstruction. I then put the water tank back on and ran a cup of coffee. WOW! The pump was very quiet and the coffee flowed nicely. No where in the maintenance instructions does it say to clean the screen. I do not know how to remove it, or would have done it differently. Also, the technician at Jura never mentioned that it could have been the reason. He just wanted me to send in the unit and charge me $265 to repair it. So, please make note of this very simple preventative maintenance step that can greatly improve the performance and help it run much longer w/o problems. If you have the procedure to remove the screen at the water intake, please let me know. Thanks! Final note, my wife said that she would recommend white vinegar to clean with instead of the peroxide, so that is what I will use from now on.

I have a Jura XS90 that after about 2 minutes of the machine being on, it reverts back to the 'HEATING' mode and gets stuck there and then doesn't make any more coffee. so for the last 2 yrs we've been turning the machine on, quickly making 2 cups of coffee as soon as it says READY, then turning it off immediately. if you miss that READY window, it'll go back to HEATING and stay that way until you turn the machine off and wait about an hour. If you try turning it back on too soon, it'll just stay stuck in HEATING mode. it's very inconvenient, but at least we've still been able to make coffee. Is there a heating sensor or something that just needs to be replaced here? it would be nice to get this fixed.
@PartsGuruUSA
@PartsGuruUSA 7 лет назад
+Dennis Dowhy Hi Dennis: Typically when there's an issue with temperature sensor, it displays error code such as Error 4. The other reason for HEATING could be due to lack of Descaling the machine. When was the last time you descaled it? What Descaling product did you use? The calcium sediments in water accumulates at the fittings, connections and inside the boiler. As a result, the boiler fails to reach the desired temperature and thus displays HEATING. Please try to descale the machine first. Run multiple cycles using the authentic descaler to ensure its thoroughly descaled.
@dennisdowhy
@dennisdowhy 7 лет назад
wow, now thats a fast response :) we use the authentic 'Jura Decalcifying/Descaling Tablets' for descaling but this doesn't solve the issue. like i said this has been going on for years, I bought the machine back in 2013 and it only worked properly for a few months I think, so basically for almost 3.5 years now we've been playing this game of racing to make our cups of coffee before it gets stuck in HEATING mode. this happens 100% of the time, regardless of how many times we have cleaned and descaled the machine. it would be nice to finally figure out how to fix this one for for all. it's especially troublesome when we have guests over and then we get stuck in this mode and can't make coffee for them. I have never seen an error code shown on the display. It'll just get stuck on 'HEATING' and stay that way until you turn the machine off, and even then if you turn it baack on too soon it'll just go right to HEATING and still not let you make coffee.
@PartsGuruUSA
@PartsGuruUSA 7 лет назад
+Dennis Dowhy You can try to replace the temperature sensors on each boiler. XS90 has two boilers/thermoblocks each uses a different sensor. The other issue could be with thermal fuse that's also clamped onto the boiler. But, at this point, it's hard to tell whether it's a sensor or fuse.

Where is the water leaking from? Facing the machine from the front, is it leaking from the rear right side? If so, then it could be either the membrane regulator or one of the connectors. As for the empty tray message, please remove the drain pan completely. Locate the white micro switch inside and clean it off. There could be coffee residue on it that is not correctly activating the micro switch. Clean the metal contacts at the rear of the drain pan as well.

Our machine seems to be moving much more water in to the tray as well as it is not recognizing that we have emptied the coffee grounds. ( we empty and clean it, return to machine and it says empty grounds) if we let it sit out for 5 min or so it will reset and recognize it most times however. Any thoughts as to what the issue may be? I noticed in the last couple of days it has also indicated the coffee grounds need to be emptied but it is not full however there is more water in the tray. Trouble shooting we have done is to clean all the connectors with a q-tip ad ensure the sensors are dry.

Our Jura S9 Impressa still makes coffee, but takes forever to froth milk, and seems to be leaking steam. When we froth milk, steam comes up out of the cup warming tray. Hello Marina, There is a solenoid valve in S9 that controls the flow of steam to the front steam wand. The solenoid valve is probably leaking. I suggest you order the oval head tool, to remove the rear panel and inspect the solenoid valve. You can also check other leaking components inside the machine while you have it open. You can order the oval head tool by clicking the link below: www.shopjuraparts.com/products/jura-oval-head-tool

+Kyla Farmer Hi Kyla: your S9 needs thorough descaling. Descaling removes the calcium sediments from water passages inside the fluid system. Hello Guru, I have a XS9 and the milk steamer has no force, you could stop the steam with your finger. I have opened the unit, and all tubes are clean and free of any residue, what could be the problem? Thank you
@PartsGuruUSA
@PartsGuruUSA 8 лет назад
Hello Ali, the XS9 model has a muliway valve that controls the steam and hot water flow. Also, the steam boiler could be partially clogged with calcium sediments. Please check both items.

+Parts Guru Thank you very much for the fast reply! I opened the machine and realized that the steam boiler was leaking from both inlet and outlet parts! I ordered few O-rings and will change it and see if that will fix it. Thanks again.

On our machine the gear on the motor shaft that drives the slide gear is broken. We can get the part but how does the encoder find the home position again when we reassemble?
@PartsGuruUSA
@PartsGuruUSA 8 лет назад
+Anthony Murray - Hello, Anthony - When you replace the brew group, ensure the big white gear is at three to four notches down from the top of cylinder, and the coffee compacting cup is all the way down. That is considered a home position. When you start the machine, the encoder will reset the brew group itself. You should not experience any issues as long as the brew group is in home position.
@anthonymurray5216
@anthonymurray5216 8 лет назад
+Parts Guru Thank you. I was afraid that since the encoder is now out of synchronization with the brew group due to the broken drive gear that it might not be able to be re-synchronized. How does the encoder find synchronization again? Just curious...

Okay, here's a question that seems simple, but it's been a real problem. On the front of the unit, there is a T-Shaped chrome handle that raises and lowers the pouring spouts. It's come loose and the handle has come off. Sounds like it would be easy to get a screw back there to secure the handle, but the space is just too tight. Thinking I might have to remove the spout assembly to really get in there, put the screw in to hold the handle in place, and to make it secure. But I have not idea how to do this. Suggestions?

Hi Brad, what version of S9 do you have? Can you let me know the 5 digit article number printed on the white sticker inside the front control panel?
@BradWillis
@BradWillis 6 лет назад
Part 13215. I did get it to stay for now. Drilled the hole slightly larger and used a bolt and washer. Not ideal but working for now. If there's an easy way to release the pour spout housing for future reference, let me know. Thanks in advance!
@PartsGuruUSA
@PartsGuruUSA 6 лет назад
You will need to open the front door. Detach the coffee inlet tube from the brew group so the door can be opened easily. Then, you’ll need to remove the coffee spout by pressing the two tabs placed on the inside of the door to dismantle the spout.

@PartsGuruUSA

Hi Mark, there is a sensor mounted on the boiler that generates steam. The sensor gets corroded and does not measure the correct temperate. As a result, it shows the error you're seeing or display Error 4. You can replace the sensor yourself and have it replaced by an experienced technician. We have the sensor in stock.

I have an xs90 jura, the milk frother just stop working, it is not sucking milk up the tube?
@PartsGuruUSA
@PartsGuruUSA 7 лет назад
+Rich Snyder Hello Rich: The frother needs cleaning (not just rinsing under water tap). The connections from milk container to the frother must be air tight. If any air is sucked then the milk will not pull from the bottle. The warm air or water is coming out because the milk is not pulled from the milk container. If you are using a Jura milk carafe, then disconnect that from the frother silicone tube. Take milk in a pitcher and dip the silicone tube in it. Let me know if that helps.
@richsnyder8086

Thanks for your help, I found that above the frother nozzle, was clogged, it appeared that over time the mile had sucked up and into the fixed part above the removable milk frother and clogged over time, I used a paper clip to open and cleaned it well, working very well now.

@PartsGuruUSA 9 лет назад
Oscar Hernandez Hi Oscar, Please be as descriptive as possible. What happens when you press the coffee button? Does the grinder engage and grind the beans? Do you hear the brew group moving? Is there hot water in the drip tray? Does your machine go through the complete brewing cycle and still does not produce coffee from the front spouts?
@oscarhernandez3788
@oscarhernandez3788 9 лет назад
Parts Guru Thank you for your prompt response. Then he explained what it does exactly my coffee machine. When I press the coffee button, starts working the grinder (grinding coffee without any problem), the group heard moving, the display screen shows all correctly, but the group does not come out coffee and the drip tray is completely dry . But the waste tray, throws dry and ground coffee. I hope this description helps you understand my problem, thank you Guru.
@PartsGuruUSA
@PartsGuruUSA 9 лет назад
Is the ground coffee completely dry? If so, the hot water is not getting into the brew group. Can you please operate the machine with completely empty and dry drip tray? Press the coffee button to make coffee; Is the water in the drip tray hot or cold? If the water is hot, then either the brew group drainage valve or magnet valve are not working.

Hi Michael, It's probably due to an internal leakage or lack of descaling. When was the last time you descaled your machine? What is the name of product you used for descaling? Do you see any visible leakages outside of the machine or on the countertop?
@maxlink95
@maxlink95 9 лет назад
Parts Guru hey guru, I am also having this issue. I descaled this morning. What would you do about an internal leak? Could this he a bad water sensor? Any help is appreciated thanks!
@PartsGuruUSA
@PartsGuruUSA 9 лет назад
Hi Max: Please run multiple descaling cycles to ensure there's no blockage inside the hydraulic system. Calcium sediments build up overtime and starts to blocks water flow that results in Fill System error. If further descaling does not help, I suggest you open the machine to find any visible leaks.
@maxlink95
@maxlink95 9 лет назад
We tried descaling again to no avail. The issue only happens if it has run out. If we don't let it run out it works fine however if it does then we have to wait for about a day to use again.

In S9 models, the angled silicone hose that connects flow meter to hot water pump often leaks. The flow meter is located to left rear of the machine. If you have the rear panel removed, please check the flow meter and pump connection.

Parts Guru Hi Guru. I opened the back up and you were right. The leak is from the diaphram regulator hose and the junction of the 3 way connector which is connected to the relief valve. But the leak is where the hose goes into the 3way connector. What do I need to do?

@DespicableRydo
@DespicableRydo 7 лет назад
We had this message recently. Our problem was that there was a compressed wafer of ground stuck to the back, stopping the tray from being inserted all the way. This made the problem even worse, as the counter for removing the tray when the ground tray was full kept getting reset, meaning even more grounds overflowed into the main tray. A good clean out made the whole tray fit snugly again and fixed the problem.

+Parts Guru I have done this twice now, both as a reply (1 month ago) and as an email you asked me to send. I was giving you an update regarding the issue I was having. Please read and respond to my questions. Here it is again: Wanted to update you on the issue with my unit.
