Using the parasolid model is very useful for what you describe. I often use it to simplify a SolidWorks part file. Sometimes, especially if you have a plurality of configurations, SW will start to fail at rebuild. I frequently save each configuration as a separate parasolid file. This is especially helpful if your part consists of a number of stages reached by subtracting one part from another with the combine function. It also frees you from the necessity of using Pack and Go if you need to send files to someone else. All the data is in the one file.
the 'recognise features' option in the 'insert' dropdown menu is greyed out for me, i have enabled Feature Works in the 'Add-ins' menu but it is still grey

While I'm trying to activate solidworks 2103 (installed), the activator goes vanishes without being activating the solidworks. Is there any solution available? Thanks in advance.
Maybe while installing you just unchecked sw tool (something like apl tool"- not sure)... Or from tool you can check if it's present or not.... Tool>feature work>recognize feature ( make sure you are on a part file)

@@faharrizki7337 well if you take a step file (say created in sw 18) then on future version (sw 22) than it will recognise the feature history. But if the step file isn’t created in sw than it’s recognition feature won’t work. Easy way is to take solidworks part file (sldprt) than just open it in future one.

Well the video was knowledgeable. Is it possible to edit the features too. Because you didn't showed whether we can really edit Features just like we can edit in same or any future versions.
You cannot: *Insert model items. *Access FeatureManager design tree data such as weldment cut lists and weld beads. You can create drawings of assemblies that contain both current and future version components.
