This definitely works but some important tips I would recommend everyone! Always start with a room temperature bottle. Trying to heat up a cold bottle will always end up with a crack or breakage. Use a torch lighter but rotate the bottle while you are heating it up or you will crack it. Also stop heating the moment it starts lifting up. The heat will naturally push it about 3/4 of the way out. Hold the bottle with a rag with one hand (it’s gonna be blazing hot) and control the cork with your other hand. LET THE BOTTLE COOL- if you try to pour the wine straight away the cold/room temp wine will react with the hot glass and probably shatter and that’s no good. If you’re a little bit impatient like me- heat a rag up with hot water and start rubbing the hot neck of the bottle, this allows the wires to cool down more evenly and once it becomes cool enough to touch you can toss it in the freezer or cold water bath to get it to drinking to temperature. Enjoy and stay safe!
Ok this definitely works! Side note: used a torch lighter slowly rotating bottle. I now have one less eye, one new cautionary tale, and one more bottle o’ cheap-ass wine
I was REALLY afraid of trying this but the liquor stores we're closed and I had a really tough day! When I did it it did not rise like in the video but when I stopped after a minute or two after trying this method it made it come out easier with my deformed spoon which I deformed prior to me trying this method and tried afterwards and it basically came out with no problem!! Thank you for creating this video❤😘
@@mykal145 why would it? it literally says 'heat the air underneath the cork', rather than the wine itself - besides, if things are really that rough that a lighter needs to be used to open a wine bottle, I imagine a miniscule (0.01% (guesstimate)) possible spoilage of the wine would hardly bother anyone lol.
This is a great tip. I heated it and after a while I felt it was hot enough so I put a knife into the cork and twisted the knife and it popped out without me having to lift the cork
Hey, if you're reading the comments before watching the video., just wanted to let you know that you should just heat the sides of the bottle neck where the cork is located with a regular lighter for about 5 minutes while rotating the bottle, and then while the sides are still hot just push the cork in with a skinny butter knife. This makes it super easy to open, otherwise the bottom of the cork will burn, and drop tiny pieces of melted cork in the wine.
It actually works lit the glass for around 30 secs thought it wasn’t working so went in the kitchen for a knife and as son as I got back the cork flew up and hit the sealing. Sounded like a gun shot 🙈😂
It totally worked! I used one of the longer lighters. I rotated the wine bottle slowly it took about five minutes which seemed longer. I also wore a hat and glasses and I put a pillow in front of me. As said before, once the cork starts to rise, Stop heating the bottle - or else it will shoot into the ceiling
This concept totally worked. Slowly turned the bottle and cork slide up and up and up and out. Thank you for this method worked less than 2mins I noticed cork was shifting. This was on point
I was afraid it would shoot up the wall, stopped after about 3 minutes and had another go with the corkscrew using this method and it came out with such ease !
I like how he was impatient and didn't wait till it all came out and we see the little nub at the end and it magically disappears like as if it never existed ..and he proceeds to pour the uncorked wine lmfao
I had already screwed my cork up prior to trying this lighter method so the method did help me but basically helped make the cork smoother which led me to only push it in and now it’s just floating around in wine and my desk and pants got splashed with red wine! 😂😂😂 thanks so much for this video though I had already given up from trying previous failed methods with this wine bottle and after all this the wine doesn’t even taste good 🤦♀️ it’s apothic crush smooth red blend
I looked everywhere for my wine opener. Searched a video on how to open a bottle of wine with a corkscrew. The lighter worked!!! I held it I one spot for 1 minute then slowly rotated the bottle. It took about 4 to 5 minutes. And all the lighter fluid from my dollar tree candle lighter. But worth it,thanks a bunch 🥰 by the way my bottle was room temperature.
The bottle bursted broke and wine spilled everywhere and I burned my hand trying to clean up the glass lol. But there was still like 80% of wine in the bottle
This didnt work! Save yourself the trouble. Cork is still stuck in the bottle. Took heroin instead and now my family have disowned me. Back to the drawing board
fun fact: if you let the cork push out by itself, it shoots out like a cannon this is because the heat builds up pressure which pushes out the cork, so all of that pressure in one tiny space makes the cork go up at the speed of sound
Next time i think im just gona buy a corkscrew. Damn bottle neck exploded beautifully in all directions. But atleast most of the wine was saved, maybe pulled out a shard or two of glass from the bottom of my glass.
I tried it for 3 mins it didn’t pop out, may be because I already ruined the cork with the knife it wouldn’t even move when I tried with knife, screw, fork or key 😅but after doing this for 3 mins when I tried again with knife it comes off easily. Thanks!
Ha! This did the trick. However don't bother using a lighter or you will burn your fingertips before the darn cork ever moves! If you have a torch, use it, or just a candle would suffice (which i used btw).
I feel like everyone commenting is in on some practical joke against me. I’ve been holding this lighter on the bottle for damn near 3 minutes and the cork hasn’t budged even a tiny bit.
Dear lord that was terrifying. It worked when nothing else would but luckily I read the comments. This shit will shoot out, so keep an eye on it and when it starts to move face it away from yourself
This melted the cork inside bottle. I had to use a knife n screw it half way till it stopped, then used a corkscrew n turned it all the way to the rest came out, didn't need to pull it outwards-keep turning handle in and the rest will happen on its own.
I'm just a 20 years old lonely girl trying to open a botle of wine at 2 a.m. and I tried it at the gas cooker and instead of getting out, the cork caught on fire and it melted on the botle... I don't think I can drink it anymore🥲
Mark Bridenbeck ok but you can’t be with the fire on the hole time, that will obviously melt it, you must let it on for a while, turn it of, and then back again
None of these worked. I ended up using a window smasher on the back of my switchblade. I hit just under the cork and it was a pretty clean cut. Just be careful if you’re doing this, face the bottle away from you.
Doesn't make the wine hot at all, although I just did this to open a bottle tonight and it was a large bottle of wine equal to about to regular size bottles that was only 9$ USD and it was so cheap the cork wasn't real and part of it melted to the side of the bottle, so I probably got some fumes in it, tasted fine though, just scraped the melted stuff away with a small knife after
