90 % of these "instructional" videos on RU-vid are usually crap. However---this one is a solid three minutes of very helpful and concise instructions. Thank you!!!! Especially the advice to take it sloooow and steady the first time. It's definitely a learning experience. If you haven't run one of these machines before, you need to accept that it will take hours of practice to run it as expertly as this man does.

Good teaching skills, clear, calm and brief. Just bought an old Case 580CK to clear land we bought, gathering videos to teach my son. This will definitely be one. Anymore available?

Sometimes the levers or on different sides that operate the bucket. And do not EVER try driving forward up a steep hill, it will roll over on you, always backup hills folks. There is so much weight sticking out from the back even though it is tucked in, it is still very back heavy. Do not use the back hoe for pushing dirt in, that puts one hell of a strain on the upper link and usual ends up bending and or breaking it, they are designed for the strength to pull dirt toward the tractor, not side to side, you want a very costly repair, do it and see how fast you mess up the linkage/top knuckle. Take your arm, if you dig a hole with your hands you pull the dirt, but if you were to try and push the dirt sideways and not bend your arm to the increased tension, it is going to hurt, same thing here. Also check your owners manual about operation speed of the motor, sometimes they want max RPM's or operating RPM"s to protect the pumps. There is a lot more to know but this is just a few more items that were not mentioned that could save you thousands of dollars, your job, and countless down time. And folks, sometimes the ground is just to damn hard for them to dig, so don't kill your machine trying to dig something that it does not want to, you may have to wait for a raid or soak the area. I have ran into this several times that it just pulls the machine backward no matter what I tried. Better to save the equipment for another day then tear it up trying to do a job that needs to just wait.

nice video.. i am currently taking my backhoe operator's course to obtain my Heavy Equipment Operators Certificate. So far we've had all in class sessions but our equiment hands on is next week. I have confidence I can do it, been operating lift trucks for 16 years so hydraulic lever's aren't new to me. I enjoyed your videos and despite what the other tool says, it's informative and relative to anyone who wants to learn about the equipment. i'm willing to bet you'd out perform most on this thing

At times I've put the bucket down farther to lift the front end to let you see more by lifting you up higher. Like reaching over a wall and such.

another thing that i like to do is set the front bucket down just far enough to take the pressure off the front tires but not lift them up off the ground, and the same with the back so then you have 7 points of contact while your digging and it makes digging more safe for everyone

I do patchwork on streets alleyways and sidewalks. I run a case 580m turbo tractor and it definately pull it's weight. Only bad thing with it is that it's a little bit jumpy for somebody that's tryin to learn how to run one.... definately takes experience to be precise

if you cant figure out how to step on a pedal to swing or how to run 4 levers, then tell me what are you going to do when you need to run the front end and back end at the same time when you get in tight spots?

for better instruction, I would recommend point of view intruction. We need to see more from your eyes, you point of view and explain why you move the sticks the way you do and how that effects that movement of the machine

yes, because some of us (Very much me since I am young) want our backs in 20 years. :p And want to be able to see the ground and not feel like were on a roller coaster. :P Although it does feel like one big video game with joysticks and such. :P

not one rock, not one brick or any of the things one encounters in the real world of construction. might as well be on a tractor plowing a field. the man has 20 years under his belt and we can't even see him remove a tree root!? T his is not helpful in the real world
