This was the only tractor I haven't done an operating video on so far. Subscribe to How Farms Work ► bit.ly/XYVvDd Facebook ► on. YpS8oH How Farms Work Store ► bit.ly/HFWStore
Thanks for this vid!!! I would love to see more of these and also some redo's of the older ones if you have time!!! I like it when you can do 1st person with the gopro and headstrap. Thanks for all the work put into this channel!
I didn't understand what you meant by quad range until the end when you explained the ranges. Now I get that you have to stop to change between them. So, 4 unsycronyzed ranges, plus 12 powershift, 23 syncro, and 34 powershift.
They did the MPH and KPH because of the Canadian distributors and European Distributors. Depending on what year, it was just cheaper to print one plate/sticker instead of printing one per region. Since the standard production run was from 1978 to 82, it made quite a bit of sense to just keep things fairly standard. Lower the costs. Why? Because these were the quiet ride cabs and they had just come out. So you needed something uniform that just matched as many of the models as you were making. Not to go off the rails too much.
nice!sounds bit complicated though..i've driven was a Ford 5000 with just a simple manual transmission gear 1-4 and Reverse opposite gear 2.Ploughing was done on gear 1(i din't know at what revs though because 1.the tachometer did not work and 2.I was just happy to drive it soo bad i didn't want to learn or care about technicalities) and when planting I would use gear 2 and move a bit faster....happy teen moments!
I know how to drive a 3020 power shift, a 4020 & 4620 without power shift & also some Farmall tractors. Other than that I have never driven the newer tractors
I know that tractor was built in the late 70's or very early 80's.What I don't understand is why buy the 4640 instead of the 4840 and be done with it?.Is there alot more money between those two models or what?.I know the 4640 puts out 160 hp.,the 4840 puts out 180 hp.Another 20 horsepower isn't much of a difference.
+How Farms Work I'm talking about the 4640 versus the 4840.(I know of a certain 4440 that has over 500 hp under the hood,it has mods up the ying, yang)If these two models are only 20 hp apart, why bother buying the 4640,instead of the 4840 and be done with it.
The 4640 and the 4840 are the same size the only difference the 4840 has just a little more horsepower but I would just get a 4840 and call it a day I like the full powershift
It's the differential lock. Press it, and it locks the differential so that both axles are locked together to give yourself more traction when needed. It's released by pressing on either of the brake pedals.
