It has no lights. It is just a red lense cover. I think Givi might release a brake light kit for it in the future.

No. As soon as you close it and it locks, you have to use the key to unlock the topcase. You can close the lid with out engaging the lock but then it would not be water or dust tight.

@@NarrowRoadRider I can open and close my Shad luggage without having to use the key all the time, and makes it convenient for my pillion to access the case without needing the key all the time.

I hear you. It would be pretty handy if you are with the bike when you stop. I don't know why they designed it to auto-lock when you close it.

@@NarrowRoadRider I have locked my box key inside the box too many times.. I'm afraid it will happen to me again. Currently using the Givi V47

@@roborto2000 Sorry about that, I missed your comment. I hear you on the locking the keys in the box thing. I feel that might happen to me too at some point. I carry the spare key with me whenever I ride.

I ran into the same problem with mine also. I found that when the temperature drops to around 17C (62F), the locking mechanism does not engage properly. When I warm up the topcase it functions normally again. I think this is a manufacturing defect. I have reached out to the seller I got the topcase from and they are working with Givi to get the issue fixed under warranty. I agree, this is somewhat disappointing.

I posted a video on the warranty fix. You might need to go through your Givi dealer to get the lockset replacement parts under warranty.
