You will need the following equipment to optimize the rotor speed of an FAE hydraulic mulcher:
✔︎ calipers
✔︎ a tachometer
✔︎ a set of standard Allen wrenches
✔︎ a set of 1/2-inch ratchets
✔︎ a set of 1/4-inch ratchets
1️⃣ Before starting, be sure that all oil supply and return hoses are connected properly and the oil inside the drainage hoses does not exceed the max. pressure recommended in the installation instructions. The hoses should lead directly to the tank, without crossing other hydraulic connections.
2️⃣ After checking that the hydraulic system is connected properly, check that the excavator's capacity matches what is written on the tag with the configuration information. If the information matches exactly, it will only be necessary to check the rotor speed. If it does not match, it will be necessary to complete the configuration process.
3️⃣ To adjust the flow and the VT motor stroke, first remove the panels from the mulcher to access the interior compartments. Next, use a wrench to completely unscrew the nut that regulates oil flow. Loosen the screw for adjusting the minimum displacement and configure it according to the first technical table in the video.
4️⃣ Then, measure the number of motor revolutions with the tachometer and reduce it by adjusting the flow valve according to the second technical table in the video.
5️⃣ Continue adjusting the minimum displacement this way until you reach the number of revolutions recommended in the FAE installation instructions.
6️⃣ Lastly, re-check the number of revolutions to confirm it is correct.
