I got one of those accordion organizers from an office supply store, the one that has A-Z labels, to put all the boards in in alphabetical order. That should help with getting the boards and free up a lot more room inside the box.
No problem! While I'm obviously recommending a ton of external resources in this vid, don't get overwhelmed with managing the game all at once! It's totally fine to start playing without fully knowing what you're doing and slowly start to understand what saves time so you can personalizing your storage accordingly. -Daniel
The biggest downside I see with this setup is the need to take out pretty much everything each time it's played. Otherwise, good job shutting the box! :')
Yea I couldn't really figure out how to make the geometry work out to have the minis and class envelopes on the bottom. Honestly it doesn't make too much of a difference when setting up since you tend to take out most of the stuff anyways. The biggest time saver would be getting out tiles faster, hence me looking into an accordion folder once covid isn't a thing lol -Daniel
Plano Boxes, ziplocks, for monsters- jewelry/bead organizer. They have a hanger top so you can quickly see the minis and it'll hold the cards/tokens together.
Sweet mother. This makes me twitch. Impressive but man, everything has to come out and be put back in exactly that way. I do like the Plano for the standees. I used the foam inserts it came with to cut out spaces for the standees then used craft containers from Wal-Mart for the different tokens and overlays.
Is there a reason to pick playing this physical version over the Steam version (other than tactile feel)? Digital is cheaper, requires minimal setup (turn on PC, open Steam , launch Gloomhaven, enjoy), minimal teardown (exit Gloomhaven, close Steam, shutdown PC), no bookkeeping, no physical storage space requirement, online and offline co-op play, etc.
At the moment the digital version doesn't have the campaign from the physical version, but once the full game is incorporated into digital by like late 2021 then I don't really see a reason for the physical unless you want all these components. I definitely plan on using these for DnD and custom campaigns in the future. -Daniel
When a game has this many components, I'd rather just play a video game version. I found Jaws of the Lion to have about as much as I'd want to deal with, maybe even too much.
Maybe my standards are completely off at this point cause I thought Jaws was super pleasant to manage since it actually has a functioning insert and enough plastic bags for everything lol -Daniel
Really a nightmare to organize, and the insert prices are outrageous. Unfortunately here in Europe we don't have Walmarts and those Plano boxes are not that easy to find.
any fishing containers you can use? Those are basically what plano boxes are, so maybe you could find some at a convenience store or outdoor place? Best of luck organizing this monstrosity :) -Ashton
Get an organizar, it will spare you so much time! I been playing like 3 times a week for an year and it's so easy, we can even play one scenario per hour
YASS (Yet Another Storage Solution) uses four Plano boxes that's fits all the small tokens, standees and the monster cards organized. The hardest part is removing one of the walls but they have an organizational system that works and you can print out a cover sheet for boxes to show where things are. I then found someone using sheets for item cards and monster stat sheets and have them in folders. I also bought some deck boxes for some of the cards that didn't fit in planos or folders. I'm planning to purchase 5x7 photo holders for players to store all the character cards. And also got an accordion folder for map tiles. Little bit of box lift but it works for me. And yet, still working on my first playthrough of Jaws of the Lion
This. So much this. I came to the comments to see if anyone else had brought up YASS and if not I was going to recommend it. YASS in conjunction with an accordion folder for map tiles is really just the best way to organize outside of a really expensive Broken Token or similar.
@@Shelfside I would 1000000000% play Gloomhaven digitally if I owned a PC 😪 (here's hoping for a console release 🙏). I do own JotL and absolutely love it, which is why Gloomhaven proper has been on and off my wishlist for the past year, it just seems to require a level of attention outside of *playing the game* I'd rather not be bothered with. If there were (are?) scenario and map booklets similar to JotL that eased setup/takedown I'd purchase them in a heartbeat.
@@tzera_rhuon Isaac said in a kickstarter update for Frosthaven that he'd start working on scenario booklets (for both Gloom and Frost) once he's done with Frosthaven lol -Daniel
