I'm not a Mac user, but in Windows, you can synchronize the OneDrive files to your computer hard drive. If you do that, you don't have to do the download from Facebook to a desktop folder and then upload to OneDrive. You can do it in one step and download the Facebook (or other source) photos directly into the OneDrive folders on your hard drive. You can create new folders in OneDrive either on the desktop computer or in the web browser and they will synchronize automatically.
Finder in Mac has the ability to add tags to any file/photo. Within finder browse to the photo, right click and select Tags. The advantage of One Drive is that you can access the files across devices. I have not used One Drive, but it looks very user friendly and am going to give it a try. So often I get a "your ipad is full, manage storage' type of error message, then I have to transfer images to my imac. Using One Drive would eliminate this problem. I also wonder if iCloud has the same capability?
Thanks for that info and yes, OneDrive is handy because of the ability to see pics across different devices. To my knowledge we can't use ICloud in the same way (with custom tags), but that would be nice since I have all apple products for my art purposes.
