5 Steps To Win Any Argument
Join our online training course Charisma University: www.charismaon...
In this video I’m going to tell you how to win any argument. And I have years of training as a logician as a philosopher here, I can mangle people in debates and we are not going to use ANY of that here. I wasted so much time and damaged relationships with the "right” logical correct argument that SHOULD win. And I can make a video on that if you want, but the truth it would be next to useless when it comes to getting what you truly want.
Because we are dealing with people. And throwing the right facts at people without catering to the psychology required to open them up, is destructive to your relationship and to getting what you want. Plus it destroys your ability to be compassionate and truly see things from someone else’s point of view.
0:54 How to win any argument is to edefine what winning means
1:54 How to win any argument is to know what they want
2:47 Empathizing via statements can help build social skills and mindsets
4:01 Aim for self improvement and recognize their positive intent
5:21 Build your confidence and make your case

How to win an argument: Step 1. Be absolutely sure that you're right even when you're not. Step 2. Don't let the other person speak and tell them all the reasons why you're right. (you might want to make a list previously for this one) Step 3. Talk to your friends beforehand so that when you ask them they tell the other person they're wrong and you're right. Step 4. When you've ran out of arguments for step 2 guilt trip the person. Step 5. If that doesn't work just call them names. Step 6. Make a dramatic exit before they have time to say anything (example: run away in tears, walk away angrily being unnecessarily loud closing a door behind you etc.) Ps: This is a joke. I'm being sarcastic. Just in case it wasn't clear.

Yup, the issue is most people see "winning" as the progress. Beating the opponent into submission is the goal, instead of coming to an understanding where people leave with a better view on the subject. Now certain subjects are right/wrong answer debates. But those should be blindingly obvious to the majority of people.

The thing about "Redefine winning, when it comes to an argument" is such a core step for our society to actually get somewhere. If we don't learn to do that, we will keep talking PAST each other instead of talking TO each other. Good job with this video as always and thanks for introducing this perspective of an argument to the people.

This is honestly the first comment that I have ever made on RU-vid. This was presented so masterfully. Your eye contact and hand gestures are ON POINT! Your information was intuitive, and extremely helpful. I believe many people can gain from your neutral and perceptive view on arguments. It very much reminds me of Dale Carnegie's how to win friends and influence people. Something tells me you've spent some time studying psychology and human behavior. It would be interesting to pick your brain over a drink.

Thought this was going to be cliche or clickbait but the points made are really good! To summarize you have to get them to be willing to listen to you, that's when you can present your argument. You also have to maintain that politeness and civility as you continue.

You're smart. You put the most important point as number one, which was said within the first minute. Winning is NOT "They lose", winning is "I get what I want in the most optimal way". This almost never means "they lose", if they lose than that is not optimal. Comment posted as soon as I heard the point, it's a very insightful way of looking at things.

This really helps, tbh. I'm a lead tech for a job and have a manager for the field. Lately, for almost a year now, his lack of leadership has begun to plummet. I really want to point out he should supervise more and delegate as opposed to being too hands on. He's focusing on too many small things and not doing his role. He should be guiding me so I can then guide the team. I'm looking forward to discussing this with him and still be respectful. Thank you for the video (:

Winning an argument doesn't make you right or change the objective nature of reality. There's a process for determining fact from fiction and its called science. You need sufficient evidence to be right about something, even if you can win an argument.

I'm gonna be open and brutally honest with you here, I don't really agree 100% with this channel as it comes of as a little manipulative at times and that does not sit well with me. Be that as it may, I have found great tips for improving my personality overall and you do know what the heck you're talking about. I just wanted to say that although it's hit or miss with this channel at times, I do like it as it helps people grow, understand and most importantly, overcome. The grow and mature thanks to you. They understand what it means to talk to people and in turn try to understand said person. And they overcome their biggest challenge when dealing with other people ALL THANKS TO THIS CHANNEL. You are a great help to a great many people. Keep it up and I'm looking forward to what else I may be able to improve.

How to “win” every internet argument “Uno reverse card” -this accounts daughter
@ElinaSing
@ElinaSing 7 лет назад
Great video. When it comes to political arguments I never go into it wanting to win or wanting someone to see what I see. I go into it wanting the other person to know why they think the way they think. When they know why they think the way they think, that's when you can start having a useful discussion with a person. A person who cannot explain his views, is a person who is not ready to discuss them with others.

I ran into the exact example you describe with the dishes. We had a roommate contact stating clearly that dishes get done everyday by the person whose on kitchen duty that week. Some roommates never did and for months I tried to get them to it. They were failing in their duties and even when I felt I was trying to inderstand, they didn't want to be responsible, doesn't feel they had to live up to the contact and knew there were no consequences. How do you reason with people who don't want what you want, want something you cannot give, and have no consequences for behaving poorly?
@shiva_689
@shiva_689 6 лет назад
There is only one way to get people to do anything. One way. It's for them to want it. If you figure out how to do that you'll get everything you want. Btw I do realize that this doesn't answer your question. Felt like sharing it anyway

There are only two factors that make other people acceptable of what you have to say: It's either if they have something to gain from you, or if they fear you. And I'm saying that, being an open to other perspectives person with fact-based arguments, but doesn't have any of the above. I came to that conclusion over the years, by observing people who do have respect for their points of view, before they even express them.
@EatsYourWords
@EatsYourWords 7 лет назад
Dude, you totally flipped the script at the end and gave us a no answer, answer. You lead the scenario with us the audience being the ones that hadn't done the dishes, telling us to make an empathy statement like" I know you want the dishes done and you've told me a few times". Then when we get to the end suddenly step 5 the audience is in the role of the person frustrated that the dishes are never done and making a plan for the person to do the dishes twice a week. This is not helpful, we need to know how to win the argument when we are the ones who haven't done this dishes. That we don't want to and that's why we haven't done it. You basically just taught us how to listen to who ever has the problem and compromise and do what they said. THAT IS NOT WINNING ANY ARGUMENT, it's just caving. I really like your videos. So don't think I am trying to bash you down, I just don't think you answered the title to the video.
