Have you ever felt like God isn't listening to your prayers? Did you know that can actually be a good thing-God calling you to a greater spiritual maturity?
Oftentimes when we are new or growing in the spiritual life, God allows us to experience His consolations-a feeling of overwhelming love or our hearts being on fire for the Gospel. However, in order to grow in prayer and get closer to the Heart of Jesus, we must lose these "training wheels," so-to-speak, because God desires us to love Him as our creator and redeemer, not because we get good feelings.
Fr. Michelangelo shares today several strategies for overcoming dryness in prayer and taking your prayer life to the next level!

I didn't know dryness in prayer can be a good thing. I thought it was either the result of me doing something wrong or the cold and pointless mandate of "keep praying even if there is no desire". But here the fathers explain that it can be a sign of spiritual growth, also God wants us to pray, AND this one really surprised me: dryness in prayer offers a greater reward. Now that's what I call an incentive. _Gracias._

I follow St. Ignatius Loyola's advice that if you feel dryness and like you want to give up in prayer, do the opposite and pray longer. Wow! It has been such an powerful approach and so fruitful.

Thank you, Fr Michelangelo. May God bless you and protect you. I pray that you keep close to Him and allow Him to keep using you as a worthy instrument. What wonderful analogies you use! What good analytical reasoning you bring forward to explain spiritual state! And ... thank you Fr Mark-Mary, for the humility of sharing your time slots to bring us this goodness.

Thank you Father Michaelangelo. I really need to hear this to help me understand what I'm experiencing in my prayer life. For example, when I'm praying and I'm certain I'm in a state of grace like right after confession, there is a spiritual dryness that I've not experienced before but I'm not getting worse, which is why I was getting confused.

Thank you so much! I get it now. The dryness I felt, after the period of “cookies” or consolations of my reversion, scared me, I thought I was losing my relationship with God or that what I had experienced wasn’t real. I misunderstood what was happening to me, but your example of the cookie as a reward but then graduation into personal responsibility makes so much sense. So when the dryness happens I will follow your instructions using a quick examination of conscience, observe with which emotions I am reacting, and counter that with its opposite in virtue.

For the most part I never felt like my prayer was connected. I liken it to having no-one on the other end of a phone call.
@alisterrebelo9013
@alisterrebelo9013 3 дня назад
God is listening even if it seems like the call is disconnected. The question is, are you listening back and paying attention to the signs you're getting? Remember the things that seem like coincidences in your life are not really the case, especially if you've been asking God for signs.

Any advice for those with adhd?
@nesioindo5157
@nesioindo5157 3 дня назад
The 4 Temperaments. I personally think that adhd is mostly present in the sanguine temperament. But putting my opinion aside, you can read about the 4 temperaments and try to identify yourself on any of them. Each temperament has its strengths and weaknesses, start working on the weaknesses of each to overwrite them (in fact, that's what sanctification looks like). Sometimes adhd is caused by something: misinformation, lies planted on our thinking, fears, stress and so on. Try to find out the cause. But if you ask me, I say many times adhd is just the person's temperament, nothing wrong with the person in fact, but unfortunately some people who lack information categorize it as a problem or deficit.

Romans 3:22 KJV "Even the righteousness of GOD which is BY FAITH OF JESUS CHRIST unto all and upon all them THAT BELIEVE: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of GOD; 24 Being JUSTIFIED FREELY BY HIS GRACE through the REDEMPTION THAT IS IN CHRIST JESUS: 25 Whom GOD has set forth to be a propitiation (penalty of death for sin paid by CHRIST and HIM crucified) TROUGH FAITH IN HIS BLOOD (CHRIST'S blood shed on the cross once for all), to declare HIS righteousness (which covers our sins) for the REMISSION OF SINS that are past (all sin forgiven therefore all sin unto death is in the past and not current or future for a true believer), through the forbearance of GOD; 27 Where is boasting then (believing that you earn and deserve salvation by works)? It is excluded. By what law? of works? No: but by the LAW OF FAITH." (Parenthesis mine)

@@alisterrebelo9013 It is the Word of GOD which the RCC says is one of its authorities although it definitely contradicts the RCC's other two authorities of traditions and pope declarations.

@@jacktracy8356 Since you're a Christian, you should not be misrepresenting anyone, which is a form of lying and therefore sin. So in love, let me correct a few lies that you've said, which I'm sure is unintentional. Lie #1 - Using the term "RCC" which is an acronym for 'Roman Catholic Church' to represent the Catholic Church. Truth - The Catholic Church is a communion between the 23 Eastern Catholic and 1 Western Catholic Church. *Can you please refer to us as the Catholic Church and not the "RCC"?* - 23 (TWENTY THREE!) Eastern Catholic Churches (Eastern Rites). These are: Coptic, Eritrean, Ethiopian, Armenian, Albanian, Belarussian Greek, Bulgarian Greek, Greek Catholic Church of Croatia & Serbia, Greek Byzantine, Hungarian Greek, Italo-Albanian, Macedonian Greek, Russian Greek, Ruthenian Greek, Slovak Greek, Ukrainian Greek, Chaldean Catholic, Syro-Malabar (India), Antiochene Syriac Maronite, Syriac and Syro-Malankara Catholic Churches. - 1 Western Catholic Church (Western Rite), example, the Roman Catholic Church
@alisterrebelo9013
@alisterrebelo9013 2 дня назад
@@jacktracy8356 Lie #2 - You misrepresent the structure of Catholic Church. Truth - The Catholic Church is founded on the Bible, Sacred Tradition and the Living Magisterium. What is the Bible? The Catholic Church has taught that the Bible consists of at least 46 Book in the Old Testament and 27 New Testament for over 1000 years until the Luther and his cohort schismed from the Catholic Church in the 1500. What is Sacred Tradition? In short, the transmission of the Gospel which was done orally (1 Cor 11:2, 2 Tim 2:1-2, 2 Tim 1:13-14, 1 Thess 2:13, 2 Thess 2:15), and in written form (Bible). The word Magisterium means 'teaching authority' given first to the Apostles (Matthew 28:18-20, John 20:22) which is then passed onto the Bishops via laying of hands (Acts 5:5-6, Acts 13:1-4, 2 Tim 1:6; 1 Tim 5:22). This laying of hands happens from the Apostles to the elders including Paul and Barnabas, and then onto Timothy and his generation. The Bible indicates that the Holy Spirit helped continue this transmission of teaching authority (John 16:13, Acts 13:1-4). The Catholic Church contains the Living Magisterium through the Bishops, of which the head Bishop is the Pope at Rome. The various councils of the Church are an example of where Bishops gather as they did in the first Council recorded in Acts 15 and issue teachings that are binding upon all Christians universally.
