I have two degrees from Boston University and spent over ten years in therapy, yet I feel like I have learned more about myself in this short video than from all of my schooling and reflection. I felt like this woman looked into my soul and spoke directly to me and my struggles. Thank you, Teal. You are a spiritual teacher and I am so excited and happy that I stumbled on you!

Aria I get terribly bullied and they are trying to shame me. But I speak out the brutal truth to the world anyway no matter how it hurts their Egos. That is what we have to do for ourselves and for the world. I understand your feelings and I don't force you to do things that you are not ready to do. Sending you much love. You can empower yourself. Do something good for yourself every day that makes you healthier and stronger.

Approval is magic, I've always been bullied by my family for being complex and thinking too much, once my colleagues said to me: wow you are very reflexive. There is not one word which I didn't resonate with, she just goes straight to the point without fluffing around, doesn't condemn anyone. A rational look at a devastating irrational emotion. Shame when used to control entire cultures is hard to go through, but with incredible messages like this, it can be done. Thank you.

who cares? Many jobs suck, and some jobs are completely worthless torture. everyone knows this. the fact is most every sane person you formerly worked with was jealous of you that you quit. you got out, while they feel stuck. sure it paid money, and you probably felt stuck emotionally and had shame. but believe me, there's people who are ashamed that they won't quit when they want to.

I would venture forth to say what she meant about shame causing disease is that shame can manifest a weakened immune system because it may on some level cause the person to believe they are not worthy of surviving (living), therefore it begins to manifest self destruction through weakening the immune system.

Very wise words Robert, i have ME- which is an autoimmune condition where after an initial virus, my immune system is inflaming my body/nervous system. I am just starting to understand I don't feel strong enough as a man- something I felt as a child very much. I will look at this core belief with my inner child, plus other associated beliefs. My shame runs deep and I mean deep. I was molested by the guy who was supposed to be my father. Then when I got older around 8 he started raping me and my so called mother called me the other woman. Then their oldest son started molesting me. If that wasn't happening to me I was ignored and beaten. As long as I can remember I was told by both parents that I wasn't supposed to be born a girl. They told me every time something went wrong it was because I chose to ruin everything by being born a girl. As I got older things got worse. They started telling my children how I ruin everything. I do not have any contact with any of them anymore. I have been trying so hard to heal myself but I always seem to pick out the counselors who are abusive and make me feel worse. I withdrew from life for 2 years and then in my desperation to find some kind of help I found Teal looking for help because I was suicidal and I meant it this time. There is one counselor that I would love to see behind bars though. Thank you Teal for what you do and give to people. I couldn't do this without you. I just want to say that I saw some of those videos slamming this amzing woman you should be ashamed of yourselves if it wasn't for this woman I wouldn't be here. I have some cousins that I refuse to speak to also because they took his side and told me that I should apologize to him the thing that raped me my entire childhood!! They are one of these so positive thinking people!! Why should I apologize to any of them? I didn't do anything wrong. They said with that smile it will set you free. Im sorry but she's lucky we were on the phone. And if I never found Teal Swan I'd be dead and thats positive!! I love Teal because she says it like it is and speaks the truth. an unwanted pregnancy brought to term often lives a horribly depressed life. don't feel shame about your past choices. simply reflect on your decision and why you made it and analyze it truthfully: include both the good aspects of the abortion and the bad aspects as you interpret them to be. again, try to feel no shame. shame doesn't serve you, or truth, or justice, or ethics, or fairness, or compassion.

I once asked Abraham Maslow, "What do you mean when you say self-actualization?" He said, "There are just two things to remember: One is to learn to become independent of the good opinion of other people, and the second is to master the art of being detached from the fruits of your labors." Shame only occurs when you actually care about the opinion of other people, when you stop caring about the good opinion of other people, shame vanishes

I grew up in a family who demonized me, and I lived in fear, and terror of it, as well as being careful not to 'upset' the parents who when afraid, would demonize you,....as I got older, I secretively lived with this shame inside of me that haunted me for years, how I was being treated at home, was a secret, for I was 'not to tell' about the 'episodes' of 'out of control' punishing parents that did nothing but demonize their children, in the name of 'setting them straight'....I am able to see in the world today how people are demonized and so quickly, without anyone knowing the person or what truly happened in an 'incident'...I realize that the shame I had been living with about being demonized myself, was a true disconnect from my true self, for I don't believe in demonizing people, but always hold a space for people to be their true authentic selves. Once I acknowledged this disconnect from my parents beliefs, how quick they are to demonize people, from my own, how I care to hold a space for authenticity, the shame melted and am able to see the higher self perspective, and am able to see others who struggle in the world being demonized for one reason or another....together, with Teal, lets hold the space for authenticity, and see this issue in the world as an opportunity to heal with the authenticity movement Teal mentions...

My parents have demonized me too. Some of the things they have done and said are crazy. They are both very dysfunctional people and they like to hide away from realities. My life has depended on my ability to face realities so that's what I do. They don't like that so I'm a demon.

This video brought me to tears when you spoke about people who feel shame are good people who would never intentionally hurt others and have strong morals and conscience. "There is an innate yearning in people to CONNECT, to be SEEN, to be HEARD, to be FELT, to be UNDERSTOOD, to BELONG, Feeling shame means that these things in life you haven't tasted yet. " Those words just opened the floodgates for me. You really touched my heart in ways I can't begin to explain. hearing you say it out loud caused me to feel all of the things I quoted above. I must say before I say anything at all, I am fairly new to Teal Swan, I am a bit of a skeptic, cynical, critical etc a lot of the time, I think my famous last words will be ''I don't freakin' BUY IT! You wanna try this with me again?" BUT.....this particular video made a lot of sense to me because well, I was shamed to some very deep degree's growing up, I am 30 years old now, not doing as good as I could, growing up my mother killed herself when I Was just a year old, then 20 years later my dad was shot to death in an altercation with the police, my life was chaotic until 21 years old, then things started to slow down, but inside, I feel dark, I feel broken, I feel ashamed, I hate myself, some days I don't want to live or I just want to disappear, but one comment that was made in this video really poked at my heart of hearts which was finding the child who was hurt, I think I have been protecting that child by coming off as a mean and scarey person.

you must be a being incarnate from another planet. I understood this at the end when you said "maybe you didn't come here to fit into those standards (social) in the first place....if you had fit into those standards, our society would have no hope of evolving at all". this statement actually helped me tremendously to see the bigger picture. why? because it showed me that I have a reason (greater) for being here even though being here on earth (for me) often feels painful and I've rarely felt like I've fit in. I am a person who is really aware, has a spiritual conscience and am very much affected when other say or do hurtful things to me. those people who do most of the hurtful stuff are in my family, which makes it very challenging. I'm taking steps to stand up and not be abused by them anymore which is one of the most difficult things I've had to do in this lifetime. thanks for helping me learn and find the courage to do that more. anyway, I appreciate your videos immensely and so glad I found you here on youtube! you are a real angel, no doubt. I feel lifted and not so alone.
@1love754
@1love754 5 лет назад
In my case, even though I wasn’t abused physically, I had to walk away from people I thought I loved, but you meet these people that push your buttons everywhere, so it is in my belief now, better to work on oneself than trying to change others. Less stressful and hurtful, because even if we try to set out to make the world a better place, we will hurt other people, that then hurts ourselves etc. Take good care of yourself and keep smiling to yourself about being able to see the world in another way! You are blessed.

At 45 I feel ashamed that my money situation is pathetic compared to others my age; I feel ashamed if I gain any weight as an athlete, or I don't perform well or don't work hard enough, I am selfish, don't give enough, haven't achieved enough, have debt.....there is always some reason. Teal is right, its all from socialization, subjective and I don't think I've really experienced being loved and loving unconditionally except with animals. So now what? I don't have the $ to afford therapy; really I probably need to find a community of people in Ventura/Santa Barbara CA that seeks to live authentically, have fun, live according to created values and have fun.

I love you so much Teal. I had to quit my job and had hip surgery and I've been feeling the most horrible shame of my life. I've been a big introvert and idealist and the one time I didn't share my feelings with someone right away they called HR and told a bunh of lies. I am truly grateful for that experience but I feel like I can't get back to my old self and I'm struggling with emptiness, hollowness, wrongness, self-blame. I am very disconnected from my feelings now and have a lot of confusion. Anyway, thank you so much. I love your channel and love the wisdom you get to share through social media!

Dear Teal, huuuuuuue....yes I had been feeling ashame over 30 years through, since I conciously worked out my childhoodpast of sexual abuse. Especialy shameful it went to me through religion and the old state of minds and fears of the family I grew up in with. I always thought I am unable to manage my life alone; like being not good enough ect...in many directions and ways, stumbled over a great love where I did judgie myself over , so the love I did recieve I couldn´t give answer to, but a lot damage and running away from myself. Now since I do live alone since 10 years now I do slowly get back to my inner strength and believes. Thank you Teal that you did talk about shame. God bless...hearty regards Mina***

❤️ To start this topic I want to have myself know that it will be ok now. As I watched all these videos and I knew the order of which one to watch first, and if I hadn’t done that, I don’t think I would have come as far as I got now. I’m forever grateful to Teal Swan and all these people she works with in interviews and workshops have also helped me to come to this point. For what I believe that should be thought early on, instead we, I almost left it out, have kids and screw them up as we where, I know now why I didn’t want to have kids, how can I teach a kid to be happy if I never learned that properly. A lot of my fears are based on shame and I feel ashamed about that too. Now, I know how to get through it, I need to learn to accept this situation.❤️

My fist entry in the file named shame was missing a very important sentence, it is that I am forever grateful for all the people in my life all that I have met, and all the once I didn’t like politicians, actors or other famous people, they all helped shape my life the way it is, and not only the famous people, we do know about all the poor people all over the world, who live in horrible conditions and the military that makes their life a living hell, or the police and other institutions so called social system, need I go one. I’m almost 50, as I was young once I felt my god that is so old, and I have to live a life like you, I was like no way I’m out of here. Growing up in a small very beautiful town in Switzerland to the most loving parents a kid could have and I feel like I was living in hell, as a kid you think that’s the way it is, and try to find your life, I mean I did a hell of a job, I live in a super beautiful town again with a partner who should get an award for bravery, after all the years married to me, he still loves me. And right now I can barely see what I’m writing because 😭😭😭 but it is mixed now, shame still a lot of shame but more so the relief of having found a core problem of me not being able to love fully and be happy. Thank you 🙏 I don’t know how many times are appropriate in this case.

Especially during a world pandemic where so many people have lost so much! It's an amazing thing to have the right knowledge but to actually back that up and reinforce it by offering your acquired wealth back to those who simply ask for it, I think is the true measure of an actualized healer. I was being shamed of an accuse of my parents toward me. they accused me of an incident that i never did and spread it to my whole family, community, friends, school teachers and mates and they and everyone else has literally turned against me and abandoned me for two years on a row and on total 4 years. nobody ever spoke to me nobody was wanting to be with me at all. nobody listened to me and evryone every single one grown ups was looking at me with so much judging and were shaming me for being me. other grown ups told their children never to play with or talk to me. i was even punished from coming to the table for meals with my family and they told me i deserve this treatment. right now it is the absolute hardship and difficulty to open up to anyone. im trying to heal my inner child but the pain in unbearable yet i wanna do it for my own inner child she deserves nothing but love and safety. Thank you SOOOOO much Teal for always guiding me through these processes of healing and awareness

Keep watching teal, I did it now for years but only by starting to watch her since last Saturday I mean almost nothing else, I have the luxury to do what ever I want, so it might not be the same for you. I will keep you in a special place in my heart, as I have that urge to help people since a little kid, and now I’m almost 50, all I’ve done is telling others how horrible they are, before ever checking myself, another shame root.... I leave you the rest of my drama. So sorry you’re having a hard time. You’re loved in the all one!

She came to me in the sleeping hours And she sang to me in the moonlight: "Where did you dance when you baffled our chance, And when did the motley bells chime?" I summoned a verse from a chorus of blame, But it drowned in the ghost of her song. He came to me in the sleeping hours And he called to me in the moonlight: "Why does the fold now weep to behold, And how does it feel to be free?" I tendered the words from the tears of the same, But they dried as the dawn came upon. They came to me in the sleeping hours And they whispered to me in the moonlight: "What did you reap when you floated the keep, And whom did you trust with the key?" I buried my head in a cushion of shame - And I woke to find them all gone.

I think it's as simple as this: we all have the capability to do evil. If a man thinks his truth is to do terrible things, he SHOULD be ashamed. However, I agree that shame can be a negative thing. In the end, every man, woman and child has rights, and those rights must be protected. People who live to be evil, who love doing evil things and consider this completely acceptable should be ashamed, permanently. They are human waste. Man has free will. If he has a desire to be good and live his life so that he respects the rights of others, he can correct his flaws and live his life in such a way. Shame CAN certainly be a product of cognitive distortions. However, it can also be a helpful (although painful) emotion that can help guide a man off the road of wickedness and onto the path toward goodness and morality.

Until recently, I was ashamed of desiring women and wanting to have sex with them and I'm a 27 male. Because, well, catholicism + my society always told me it was bad to see women as objects of desire, that it's not respectful. So I've always tried to hide it, which was really hypocritical, and made me narcissic and looking for approval indeed. So thanks Teal, and as weird as it may sound, I really understand a lot more LGBTs now.

I tend to lack shame, so this video helped me understand why people act crazy. These crazy people were very busy deflecting their shame on me, while I felt that was completely crazy and unreasonable. I've also seen many pathetic people who thinks they are better than others because they think they're more ethical. I don't get those standards and I don't have those censors for myself because I know it restrains me. Also I grew up in an environment where I realized being scolded was entirely based on my parents mood, so I realized at an early age that there are no standards for good and bad from the start, and ergo, I don't have shame.
