You should wear gloves, eye protection, and a respirator when spraying permethrin. It can make you sick. Put a couple of large gem type paperclips in the Altoids can. Look at my pics of the "Deadly Water Crossing Survival Kit". You can put the small end of the clip into the hinge of the can to hold the lid vertical. With the can empty and the lid vertical, put a lit tealight in the can. It will light up about 15' out. The lid acts as a reflector making it a useful light in an emergency. Carry 2 tealights and forget about carrying any tinder. A cotton ball with a little chapstick rubbed into it can easily take a spark. The P-38 can opener should work as a sparker. Look for one of the small Boy Scout fero rods. Keep all of them in the altoids can and put it in a freezer bag. One of the great accessories for a poncho is a poncho liner. I've been thinking about making one out of two cheap fleece throw blankets sewn together along the long seam with a head hole left in the middle. I will make it so that it can tie into the poncho to keep me warmer as I walk or in a pinch use the poncho with liner as a sleeping bag. I'm glad that you still have your Heetsheet blanket. This was so interesting to see your packing process. That seems like a great idea to treat the clothing ahead of time with the Permethrin and your list also seemed like a handy thing to have and reuse. It amazes me how all that stuff really did fit in your backpacking pack.

Hi IceBear - great to see what you take along backpacking and why, and how you pack your pack! I could use some of the baby behind cream, lol! We found some ‘glide’ sticks that you put on beforehand, and they help a lot, but if you get some chaffing having something handy on trail would be amazing! We don’t always spray our clothes, but we did this summer where there were going to be ticks- it’s great to see how you do it - hanging them up helps dry I’m sure. I just laid them on the tailgate of the truck and sprayed both sides, lol. It’s fun to go out with friends, but it’s also rewarding to go out by oneself! Great to see how prepared and self-sufficient you are! 👌🙌🙌👊💚🌳🐸🥾🍄‍😄⛺

You have everything but the kitchen sink IB. Very good planning for a multi day trip. You are very prepared. A titanium company felt sorry for me when I ate with my knife in my last overnight. They are sending me a titanium spark 😆 😆 🤣 . I have to start taking some comfy shoes. I definitely have to lighten my load. Aging is something you can't stop. Have a great week .
