Does anybody remember those super noisy biodegradable sun chips bags? That's basically what stuffing a paraglider sounds like. 😂 If you would like to see more tutorials like this, definitely let me know in the comments. Also, if you want to make all of your friends jealous with a Risky Biscuits Co. stuff sack/windsock, be sure to grab one on the webstore! - tuckergott.com/collections/all

@TuckerGott
@TuckerGott 4 года назад
Was that not gentle? 😅 I never figured that amount of compression would be harmful. How would you get the rest of the air out?
@kyleoglee
@kyleoglee 4 года назад
@@TuckerGott Chad Bastian was telling us during the instructor's course that when it bubbled up like that and gets pushed on, it can overstress individual seams. After repeated stress, they'll weaken. I'm sure what you did here wasn't harmful, but squeezing from tail to nose is what the Jedi Master was teaching to increase longevity of the materials. I mention all this not so much for you, but for the huge guy who is jumping on his glider real hard to push air out while trapping closed the openings.
@TuckerGott
@TuckerGott 4 года назад
Interesting! I've seen a few comments about that timestamp but never knew it was a thing. I've always kind of assumed that a SAT or barrel roll or running full speed stressed the wing or rather induced more internal pressure than slowly pushing the air out. You definitely don't want to jump on it though. 😂
@kyleoglee
@kyleoglee 4 года назад
Yeah, when the wing is fully open, pressure is balanced across the entire glider, but if pushing your weight on one or two seams, it could pull excessively. Same reason most wings say no spirals while pulling big ears. Too much over too little of an area. I didn't know either until it was explained to me.

Have you checked to make sure your wing size matches your weight? If you are consistently coming in fast, it is possible that your wing is just too small for you. Consult the experts or try borrowing a larger wing to see if it makes a difference. Good Luck!

I learned something. I always stack my leading edges, but do not turn them because my experience is that they don't stay flat so I leave them stacked but vertical. That said, the stack half between the knees, then the other half is a great tip. Thanks for demonstration.

Hi Tucker, you have been an inspiration to a lot of us all, you have a great amount of people who follow you, so teaching stuff like this is great for new pilots. There is this great trick for untangling lines that I think it would be great if you made a video about it so lots of pilots can benefit from it. To untangle the lines by using just the A's. There is a fee videos on youtube about it, but you can reach a lot more people in the community if you made your own video about it.

@@recommit Yeah I was really surprised to find out that you cannot really stay in a flat spin or anything like that. I was told it takes an experienced accro pilot to STAY in a flat spin. Hey Tucker, in other sports we sometimes daisy chain the parachute lines. Is there a reason that paraglider lines aren't daisy chained (as it keeps them super organised and less likely to create line overs when moving canopies about). Thanks!
@parajerry
@parajerry 2 года назад
Been a year but I think I can answer this. The Paramotor/Paraglider wings are different than a parachute line. Parachute lines are nylon (or other material) lines that can be bent into a fold. Paramotor lines are kevlar strands encased in a nylon sleeve. The kevlar doesn't like being folded sharply. The method shown keeps those bends from being sharp. I both skydive and paramotor.
