You probably saw the video, but Annemarie said for paintings that you send to another country, if you write "original art made by the artist" in the section where you have to declare the value for customs, the person you're sending the art to won't have to pay customs fees. I'd love to see the back of one of your finished paintings, Deby. I bet they also look neat. Mine are better when I remember to tape them before pouring, but the ones where I've forgotten, the backs are terrible messes!
@AcrylicPouring
@AcrylicPouring 7 лет назад
I admit sometimes I tape and sometimes I don't. I really quite like the backs to be 'natural' sometimes and I'm quite a tidy painter so they don't get too messy. I've still yet to find the ideal way to finish the back with a dust sheet and still keep the hanging hardware on the inside of the frame, as required for galleries. I'll work it out one day!

Thank you so much for making this video. A dear friends mother painted as a hobby. She passed away a few years ago. And her daughter, my friend, did not get the chance to have one of her paintings. So through a few text messages, phone calls, and pulling on some Heartstrings. I was able to get my hands on one. Her husband asked me to give it to her on her birthday. I'm not sure if I'm going to mail it or hand deliver it. But in either case it needs to be securely packaged. I watched a couple videos. And I like this one in particular because you're making it yourself. She will see the care and effort that I put in securing this priceless painting. Thanks again. ❤

It's really not that difficult to do. Especially if you take your time, I was rushing a bit for the video but they usually come out nice and neat. No damage in transit so far, but of course its only lightweight packaging so if someone threw something really sharp or heavy on it, who knows. Good luck :-)

Have you ever had one damaged? I wrap mine in freezer paper and then bubble wrap over that (it doesn't touch the painting) and then sandwich it between cardboard and then put it in a mailing box. Wonder if I'm over-doing it? This would be a lot lighter for shipping costs.
@AcrylicPouring
@AcrylicPouring 6 лет назад
So far so good on them, but I usually only ship up to 12x12 inches. I think if it was larger, I would double layer the foam and maybe put a piece of cardboard between the layers just for extra dent protection.

Thanks for the feedback. I have tested it extensively with practice canvases and never had a problem so far. I just unwrapped one yesterday that I had wrapped 2 months ago and left in a really hot sunny place. All was well. I've tried wetting the brown paper too, as if it had been rained on, and nothing came through. But this is, as always, a suggestion based on my own experience. Not a rule. Everyone has to decide on the best way for them.
