You surely need to plug/tape off the BB, head tube, seat tube, bottle cage mounts etc to stop paint getting into the threads and any press fit openings for cups etc? I have an old (mid 2000's) GT Aggressor I've turned into a brilliant "gravel" bike but the paintwork is pretty shabby so might give it a freshen up....
Did you let the primer and paint dry between coats? I’m a super beginner looking to repaint an old frame and this looks like the perfect method. Thanks!
Thanks for this. How long would you say the whole process took? I'm planning to repaint my kid's bike since he's inheriting it from his older brother. Want to make it feel new for him.
+Halfway J I have used them, but more for removing rust when the frame is pitted. There’re rubber wheels that work well for removing paint though. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching ✌️
+Ivan Gallardo did you sand and then clean? Cleaning the frame is the most important part. You can use dish soap. Hope that helps, thanks for the comment and checking out my video ✌️
+Derrick Thomas good point, I have a video on this channel where I stripped a frame right down to bare metal. This was just a quick paint job, done in a few hours. Thanks for watching.
im not sure to use paint stripper for aluminium frame. aluminium gets reacted with chemicals like acid or chlor but i think maybe exist paint remover for aluminium.
Not with Tremclad, it’s a single stage paint so not ment for clear to go on top. I have another video where I did a base and then clear. Thanks for watching ✌️
