Most enjoyable! I totally understand how busy it is during the summer months! Take the time you need to support your business and we will look forward to your bi-monthly video.... until Autumn!
You live in such a pretty place. We live in the Catskill mountains upstate New York and don't have hedgerows. We have stone walls; each property is separated by these beautiful walls. I think the hedgerows are easier to paint. It's lovely getting to see your countryside, it's a different kind of beautiful than we have here and I love it. Great picture; it's pushing me to go out and paint outside instead of at my desk. I think I'll go paint one of my donkeys. Enjoy your summer, and thanks for another great video. I'll go back and look at some of your old videos that I haven't painted yet.🙂
I've recently taken up watercolour painting (I'm 70) and found this video very helpful. The location you chose is of particular interest as my grandmother was born at Ade's farm in Dallington in 1889 and I imagine that it looked very similar back then. 😊
I’m not overdoing it but you are the best explainer with the colours you use and you say the name of the colours thanks again for all your work you made me happy
Aah, what a lovely way to spend time outdoors! I have been fortunate to spend my times in your beautiful country mostly in summertime. The unbelievable and almost unreal shades of green in the countryside will always stay with me. You made magic by recreating just that with this beautiful painting. As always, thank you very much, and enjoy the lovely summer weather.
Thanks Paul. Always grateful for your generosity in teaching us. Smiled when you wrote about the lack of fixative. Enjoy the sun. I’m sure we’ll have rain soon enough.
Dear Paul, thank you so much for your tutorials. I have learnt much from them. Just watching you paint with ease and fun is a delightful experience in itself. 🙏🏽❤️
Your painting brings back fond memories of Loughborough and Edinburgh where I completed my study in the UK. Those rolling fields emanate an almost celestial beauty at dawn with diadem like mist. Thanks again Paul for your effort that continue to beguile ten of thousands viewers.
Dear Paul, I watch every week and have had several favorites but this is DEFINITELY my very favorite and I wish you would do more countrysides. They have always been my favorites. Thanks to you and Margo for kindly sharing your hard work-although I'm sure you both get a kick out of it-and know you bring so many of us such joy. I'm us based but hope to join one of your US programs. Best to you...Molly too🍖
Fantastic landscape , you have made it look easy , but I am sure I will have a tough time trying to paint this. Thank you for a wonderful tutorial Paul .
Excellent, simple handling of greens, which I find so difficult. I live in Western PA, and the farmlands and mountains remind me of the UK and Germany. Although our mountains are much higher. Thanks ever so much for your generous sharing of gifts with us. You mentioned a cruise, our fave way to travel! Wonderful value for the money, and we so enjoy other cultures and meeting others.
What an absolute delight, from start to finish and including the music. Quality. Of course you must take some time away, it must seem as if you are on a bit of a treadmill at times and you and Margot deserve a break.. Looking forward to your next tutorial
Thank you for another great tutorial. With regards to reduce your output a little, I am just so grateful that you give us your time and appreciate that you have a busy life outside of RU-vid land. You give so much joy to so many people. I hope you go to bed every night with a smile on your face for what you do for others.
I never sketch or paint outside yet, but my vacation are coming, I plan to give it a try. Thank you Paul for this beautiful tutorial and the inspiration. Have a great summer !
Lovely study in each sitting, I really liked the way the fence gave the impression of height and distance beautifully! Thankyou PC! One of these days I'll get my paints out! XXX
I just painted this yesterday. As a newbie to watercolor, and painting in general, I found this a delight to follow. I especially liked the at-speed portion. I was a bit heavy-handed in my color but pleased with overall results given this was the biggest project I’ve done to date. Thank you.
Thanks, for capturing an absolutely mesmerizing moment in time and sharing a bit of your beautiful bucolic surroundings. As always, your art is pure magic. I am biting at the bit and ready and able to give this one a go! 😊
Thank you for such a wonderful landscape tutorial. I just hope to suggest you another choice to share out if you wish to, that is to paint monochrome landscape..with just one colour....I hope you would share one day..Thanks again Paul..with your nice tutorials, appreciate a lot. :)
Thanks so much Paul for all the effort you put into helping us amateurs in our efforts to understand this art of watercolor! Your videos are just the best, and they are always done with a nice touch of humor. :) I’ve only discovered your channel about a month ago, but now I try to do one small painting each day. :) I’m still baffled at how your paints and brushes are so obedient… mine are still a bit rebellious, but I’ll get ‘em trained, eventually, thanks to your tutorials. ;)
Watching this demo was exciting. It brought back when watercolor painting was fun. I tend to be too exacting. This one was refreshing and I'm going to give your attitude a try. Thanks for your enthusiasm... It's inspiring.
Bravo. Very nice. My partner was like I don’t think he is going to do the splats…. I was like I doubt that. Almost got to the end of the reel but there they were. ;). Enjoy your summer!
Thank you Paul for another great tutorial. This is helpful to give a try own landscape. Every week you are bringing happiness to me because of these lovely tutorial. We are facing little difficult time due to our country situation. It's really helpful your videos to fix my mode. Thank you again with love ❤️
Loved this one. Painting a mass of green fields always puts me in a panic and get overwhelmed by the process, hence it usually turns out a bit of a mess.
Wonderful video. Love how you use the paint wet on wet. Thank you for your time and instructions. Just watched this for the second time. I wish I could give it another thumbs up. Did you splat your dog? 😂. Sure looks like it…
Thank you for your teaching here. I finally have the courage to approach watercolor again. It is actually fun rather than completely frustrating. Thank you!!!! I just bought the Paul Clark watercolor brushes. I want to know how to take care of them? When going between brushes while painting, do I lay it down on its side or hang it with the brush side down so gravity keeps water out of the metal part holding all the bristles? I saw your brushes were brush side up in your cup. Do you wash and dry them hanging brush side down? How should I take care of them the best way possible so they last long like yours did? When I am done painting, can I rinse them by swirling them on my palm? Or will that ruin it? I don't know how to get the paint out the best way.
Hi Anna - thanks for buying my brushes! - All I do is give them a good clean in clean water, dry them on a little kitchen roll and them stand them up in a pot. - I've had mine for years!!!
Another super video!......Thank you its very inspiring indeed; I will be rushing out to put my Van Gogh Set to full use on a summery landscape. I loved the effects produced by the 'The Manky Brush' for foliage....In addiction to the "Custom HaircutI'' I notice your brush has a round ferrule but flattened bristles; how is this acheived please? ( I assume it started life as a standard round brush?). Many thanks again for your expert tutoring and the incentives to keep painting !
What a beautiful tutorial! You break it down so well and I had to laugh because every time I had a question in my head , you answered it! Especially the fixative part at the end. I followed your link but could not find the PDF for this?
Paul I'm just starting my Watercolor journey and find your videos very helpful. QUESTION: why do you sometimes choose a pastel pencil rather than a saturated paint for grasses or flowers in this case? Thanks.
Paul, wonderful demo, as always. Thanks for all your work. Now, a small question and a pedantic point. Q: Not much difference between the 10 & 12, so why the 10? Just because you felt like it is a perfectly acceptable answer. Now to the pedantic point. All the sections were recorded in real time but only a select few were played back in real time. Sorry. I’ll go to my room now.
Good point but because the paper I was using is a little smaller than I usually use the No 12 was just a little too big for some of the distant trees 😊
*Question* Did you wait for your yellow wash to dry before you started painting the greens? I wasn't sure as the little green mixing part was in between that and when you started to paint the trees.
I don't usually comment on RU-vid vides but just wanted to say how much I enjoy yours and look forward to them. Now that there's a break in between the weekly ones it will give me the opportunity to go back and try all the ones I've been wanting to get to, but haven't had the time. Thanks again...painting used to scare me as I was afraid to fail, but now I don't feel that way anymore. And you can take the credit for that. 🙏👌🙂
Great video Paul... I'm always amazed how you're able to bring a flat drawing alive and give it so much depth and perspective with a few brush strokes! Somehow you made those fields look undulating and I'm learning so much from watching your videos, reading and re-reading your book and trying to emulate your style... but I hope in time, to be able to develop my own. Just a quick question, when you describe a colour as being 'saturated' do you mean you added more paint to the water, or simply used a darker shade of paint?
Love ! It's funny that you mention the hedgerows - I'm in the USA, but I so love the UK's farm landscapes with all your stone walls and hedges. My cousin is an art teacher in Winchester over there and I mentioned that to her a few years back and she painted a beautiful landscape for me including all that. Thank you for all your hard work! I've been binging your videos!
J’adore votre façon de peindre j’aimerais un jour savoir peindre comme vous ! Merci pour toutes les explications très utiles et détaillées. Merci pour les détails sur le matériel, votre humour et bonne humeur 😊
Absolutely fantastic, so inspirational and you are absolutely right, getting out is the very best. Try not to wear yourself out over the coming weeks - what on earth am I going to do without my weekly session with you - I know, I'll paint I think!
Started watercolor painting a few months ago and recently came across your tutorials, so I'm catching up on your material. I have completed six paintings to date and have quite a few more lined up in my painting bucket list. I love the simplicity, clarity and humor of your tutorials as well as your subject choices. I also joined on your facebook. Not quite ready to take up Margot's challenges without guidance just yet, but getting there thanks to your tutorials that are really supporting and accelerating my learning process. Your RU-vid offer is huge and very generous, and since I have subscribed and am actively benefiting from it, it's only fare to return and encourage you to continue. Thank you Paul
Thank you Paul. I do not worry about the classes being every Wednesday as I re visited many times your all beautiful demonstrations in you tube particular so the nice country side of England that I only know virtual or on documentaries. Thank for your time and please do not change your greetings
Another great tutorial Paul - so enjoyed watching you paint both, en plein air and in the studio, it never amazes me how easy you make it look, from a blank sheet to something beautiful I find it inspiring and amazing. I'm not at my best mixing greens so I'm giving it another shot with this. Love all the work you do and the FB group with Margo too 😍
Thankyou so much Paul sir for wonderful video .Actually it suits me if you will upload video fortnightly as i have to complete ur previous video and with office and home i m not able to make old videos .I have completed 30 by now . thankyou enjoy yr outings and other sessions .
This was a beautiful painting and video. I enjoyed watching it. Molly is adorable. I’ve tried plein air painting and it’s such a challenge for me since the sun keeps moving! Lol. But I guess that’s the part that makes it unique. Loved the music in this video too. I could comment more about all the little details that you share that help me improve my painting but I know you are busy. 😉 I wish I could go on the cruise. Maybe next year. Have a blessed day.
Gorgeous painting, I love where you live it is so beautiful, love all the hedgerows, and Molly is adorable. It is so amazing how your field painting looks so perfect and you did it on your lap! I am so impressed. I'm practicing along with your book to get better with lines and perspective I'm always so crooked. lol Thank you for this beautiful lesson. I'd put $ in your tip jar but my husband just had 14 hours of brain surgery and we don't' have the bill yet!! LOL He's doing great though. OH i hope you have a blast on your cruise.. Happy wishes and many thanks.
