I am thrilled to offer your guys a new #WatercolorTutorial on bird painting! Hope it helps you with your #watercolor techniques, particularly layering and #painting bird feathers. Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions ❤️
I just discovered you this morning. I’m fascinated with your painting techniques and will be signing up on Patreon on the 1st of the month. In the video, you mention that things like your palette list and line drawings are linked below the video but I haven’t been able to find them. What am I doing wrong. I view your tutorials on my IPad Pro. Thanks so much.
@@lindaknox9908 Hi Linda! Thank you for your feedback and support via Patreon. On RU-vid, you can always find a long list of materials and pigments in the video description. On patreon itb will be much longer, usually with alternative pigments suggested. If you are on ipad, simply click the arrow down to open the description and you will see it, along with photo references. I generally only provide outlines on Patreon as they tale a long time to produce especially for larger compositions, and you will find them as attachments as well. Thank you!
Until it was mentioned in this video, I hadn't realized just how much you could do with only two brushes. I know the quality of tools matters, but technique and skill make the biggest difference(obviously). Great painting!
Welcome to the channel and thank you for your feedback! ❤️ I’ve been teaching in person and on SkillShare for a while, but the lessons take a very long time to produce. It’s nice to be able to share information more frequently and with a broader audience 😊
Thank You so much for sharing these technics! You are a fantastic teacher! I have used oils for painting mostly, but it is not an ecologically friendly medium. I am prepared to take on the challenges that come with re-learning watercolor methods, and your tutorials are absolutely perfect for the way that I learn! I am new to your channel and I look forward to further exploration. Also, I would like to mention that your voice is calming, this most definitely helps with relaxing during the process of creating.
Thank you Stefanie 💖💖💖 I dabbled in oil a while back, as well as acrylics, but with 2 little ones running around my choices are rather limited these days...I am having a hard time hiding my supplies on all the high shelves:) Thank you especially for your comment on my voice [which I am super self-conscious about due to my Eastern European accent] I am getting more and more comfortable speaking on camera and so grateful for everyone's encouragement! Happy New Year!💖
I have always had a few colors like cobalt teal and turquoise but never used them because they just seemed unnatural to me (i even dislike pthalo green). But the way you use them as base colors that are then tempered by subsequent layers is great. I am going to try them now! The shades you create, they seem so unique.
So happy to hear this John! Totally agree - they are somewhat unnatural but next to neutrals work as a great vibrancy boost 👌 tropical birds or sunny beach landscapes are usually good for experimenting with these ❤️ enjoy! Happy new year
Anna Bucciarelli you as well. I am enjoying going through your video catalog. The crispness of the edges of these paintings are so enlightening to see. I come mostly from an opaque media, and digital, background, with mostly coarser brushes.
I love this painting, but I've never seen a bird with just a small change of coloration on the lower back or upper hip. I do believe that this area should be rounded and the tail , a small amount is seen over this area of the back. As much as I love the painting, my eye is drawn to this area and I'm sure that was not your intention. This being a year or so old, I doubt you'll see my note. But thank you for all!
Thank you Virginia! 💜 you are right. Admittedly it was a bit of an awkward reference photo from a public photo gallery and yeah... I totally see what you mean! Right I painted it more than a year ago. I am sticking to my own references these days 😊
Thank you for the comment - Carolyn - I am doing a rose tutorial for next week and I will include some tips on sketching from photo/live subjects. Happy New year!
