I have a terrible time leaving my light parts, because it doesn't seem to occur to me where the light will be until I see the whole thing, but I am working on planning ahead and knowing where the light will be from the beginning.

Thanks for watching and leaving your comment. 🙌💚 This is definitely something that took me time to get used to when I was starting with this medium, and also something I see lots of my beginner students struggle with. I like making sure I'm setting myself up for success by choosing reference photos that allow me to easily see lights, midtones and darks, and I take time to observe these different value areas before putting paint to paper. Sometimes I map them out lightly, too! This way I can keep them protected, with little to no paint in them throughout the painting process. :) Wish you a lovely week!

Hi Erika. This is looking great. Just a couple of questions if I may please. On your Patreon do you have many watercolour pencil tutorials also will there be any other mediums other then watercolour paint and pencils . Is there anyway I can see what subjects you cover on Patreon. I have been trying to learn watercolour paint but thought I would like to give the pencils a go as well.
