Well you just made my day, I am painting my house with Dulux Weathershield paint and I just jumped onto RU-vid to find out how to paint UPVC doors. Awesome that I don't have to go and buy special paint. Great video mate,
Can you use this to paint outside drain pipes? Just moved house and someone has gone to paint them orange over black hahah and the top id all white so want them all same colour. Would it cover please?
Hi Hannah, it probably would work as long as the existing paint isn't flaking. If it is then remove as much as possible and all flaky paint. Do a small test. Good luck
Hi there. 👋 I need your help finding the right type of paint for my bathroom. It's to paint over wooden surfaces which had old yellowed gloss I've already sanded down. Is there a water-based paint, for bathroom wooden surfaces which can withstand moisture exposure 💦 most recommended bathroom paints are designed for ceilings & walls 🤨
Hiya, I’ve been looking for a paint to use on our pvc caravan sink and unit - meaning it’ll be underwater often! Do you know if this would be suitable? Thanks :)
Hi Stuart, I have one concern about this and wonder if I could have your thoughts please? Being that a door is a high use/wear item, I’m wondering just how robust this paint is going to be over time? Specifically could it be likely to ‘chip off’ (for example from a key ring constantly buffering against the painted surface)? Should that happen, it would look horrendous with small white chips showing through in places. Thanks in advance.
Hi, I think the best answer would be to ask lots of people that have painted their doors this way. The Frenchic fan forum group on Facebook would be a good start. I've painted doors and kitchens and not had this issue but worst case scenario if it did, just touch up with a little paint
He start by using sugar soap you should always use ammonia for cleaning down , L LIKE HOW HE SAY'S DOORS NOT STAYING GOOD JOB AS YOU WOULDN'T WANT TO SEE IT ONE YEAR LATER ,TAKE IT FROM ME UPVC IS NOT MEANT TO BE PAINTED DON'T LISTEN TO THIS MUPPET.
Great idea... if your white upvc windows aren't pristine after a few decades will this act like a facelift once painted on, or will it bring out the imperfections/marks? Also, will it work on what looks like aluminium powder coated sliding patio doors?
Hi Sharn. Yes will work on aluminium too, the paint is Matt finish so it's really good at hiding imperfections, for deeper holes etc then you could use a car filler and sand smooth prior to painting.
Thanks for the reply. I’ve ordered after midnight. I hope it’s not too dark! And that I don’t mess up the bottom panel. That could be your next video! 😀
@@jaynecorbett6536 I was just thinking of doing this too on my front door... how did yours go? Mine is identical to this door and I hate it as it looks like it should be a back door. Do you or anyone else have any pics before I go and mess it up! 😬🤭😆 thank you
As long as it isnt too cheap, I like Purdy but they are pricey. Mostly i would do it with a roller and then edges with the brush- see my video - how to get a perfect finish with chalk paint :)
Can you use a roller for painting upvc doors with this paint? I'm a little fussy when it comes to brush marks I have just done all of my internal doors with emulsion and a roller where I could use it and a brush for the smaller areas of the door where a roller can't go they look brand new but I don't know what it will be like with paint
hi, as it's been over a year, how has the paint stood? i really want to paint our front composite door but my parents don't trust me lol they said it's probably going to chip, weather away etc🥲🥲 i really hope you see this!
@@lenahussein890 mine has held up well but I have a porch door so it's not exposed to the elements... I had a horrible white pvc front door which I decided to change to a black composite one
Yes, I've done it but make sure you give the doors a very good key, use Polyvine as a primer. Make sure use is limited for a few weeks after painting to let paint cure.
@@UpcycleTV Hi...Thanks for your reply 🙂 Sorry, I should have mentioned that it is UPVC cladding. What I was meant to ask is that ....Is there is special paint (not spray paint) that can be applied by brush onto yellowing UPVC cladding ? I dont want to spend the time and money to replace the UPVC ceiling cladding.
Sorry have to disagree on that, I've used Zinsser for various projects and it's good but I prefer to go straight on with this paint. However, if you can't get it then it's a decent alternative. 👍
