You're literally the only artist to take away fears of trying watercolor for something other than abstract stuff because you're unafraid to show the "ugly" middle state of the process. 😅 I mean this in the most loving way possible. 💛 Your final product is always stunning! 💖
I feel so scared halfway through all of my paintings... like I've made a terrible mistake. I've come to realize too, that every work has some degree of "ugly stage"!
@@KimberlyCrick Lioba has addressed this in at least one other video if hers, and I was so glad! Because I literally didn't know what was going on that ALL my watercolor experiments looked terrible! She literally taught me to relax and keep going. 😅😍
Many people discourage tracing, but it helps when you want to focus on painting and helps you get a better idea of proportions and trains your brain so you can draw it on your own! Love your videos!!💖
I think tracing stylized images doesn’t help you. Though tracing realism can help recognize proportions and features and help with shading. If you are tracing stylized it helps but just not as much or not in the same way, that’s what I think at least.
Was so cool to see the journey to the finished product. The beginning stages of a watercolor painting tend to look kinda "ugly" or chaotic, but it turned out lovely
That was beautiful! I would never have thought of using green in skin colors! I've heard of purples and such. How do I learn which colors are in skin if I can't "see" them?
Those alternative colors on the skin depend on your light source and the colors reflecting from other objects, for example, when you have a blue sky your shadows will look purple; if you are in a park with lots of plants your skin will get those greenish tones too because of the reflection.
I say observe whatever you’re going to paint long enough. You’ll start to actually pick up on the colors. As the commenter above me said, the surroundings will usually reflect on the skin or object. If there’s nothing that hints at it in the surroundings, then think of a color and see in what areas you can spot it on the picture. Do so with different colors and you’ll be surprised where you’ll find them. Even in the small details.
You inspire me to no end, I love drawing portraits on my channel and I only recently started working with watercolor, your video is so informative and I learned alot.
Been watching tutorials for a while, but not even one I have applied. Guess I will just watch videos. Problem when you can't afford something you want because you're barely buying what you need the most. Hoping for our success and contentment guys!🤍
This is like a dream. I always have wanted to work wiht no limits, without rules, only paint what i have on mind and what you do (obviously you have a lot more of practice), its the closest thing to my idea of making art. Like a dream!
Wonderful technique! What would we do without our white Luminace pencils? Can you even imagine Iife without them? Your voice is so adorable it made me 😃 Really glad to discover you. See you on Patreon soon!
I had no idea Action was also in Germany. It’s a Dutch chain, and I do like trying out their creative products, but just to play around with. It is possible to create stunning art with cheaper supplies, but there’s a reason why good material is more expensive.
Very nice...the main reason for me to not do watercolors is the lightness of tone...using my pencils for enhancement is a much more interesting idea. Thank you.
HOLY DAMN FREAKIN FRACK !!!!! ITS SO AWESOME !!! I seriously need 500 years of practicing before I can even put the paintbrush on the paper to paint THAT ...... like seriously its awesometasticly cool,,
There are so many crap demos online with thousands of likes but this one really is brilliant. You have a lovely voice. Could listen to you for hours. Great work Lady Bruckner
Hey ! Just want to say I love your work and it’s amazing !! I’ve seen many comments saying you should speak German and do English subtitles , and ( I speak both ) in my opinion I think you speak English very well !! Carry on doing you and whatever makes you happy ! X
You are amazing, and see you troughyour titorial( I watched about 4 times look like you use Polychrom pencils as well love all your advise , thank you so much 💗
Oooh Lioba, she is beautiful! I love how you create such fine arts. Your portraits are increadable. Are these normal colouring pencils, or are they water colour pencils? I also buy a lot of my materials from action. boesner is like a treasure tro ve, but so terribly expensive. I have started buying better quality paper though. I recently brought from amazon coldpressed 300g/m 140 lbs, 100% cotten. Its lovely paper, but has a lot of texture on it. Can I use the reverse side for aquarell. Is warm pressed paper better than cold - what is the difference? Once again, many heart filled thanks lynda 🙏💕
Thank you for sharing! Your techniques are outstanding and marvelous :D I've painted with watercolor paint for a bit now but just bought watercolor pencil and looking to combine the two for my future works. 1:06 I am a bit confused though about how you copied your reference to your watercolor paper. You mentioned tracing onto the watercolor paper and included drawing directly onto the watercolor paper but aren't the two methods mentioned the same? I mean, doesn't both tracing on the paper and drawing on the paper require drawing onto the paper? Sorry for confusion.
Some people aren't even good at tracing. I'm an art stoic and frown on tracing. Some of the old Masters and renesaunce used tracing techniques. Fredrick Remington and Norman Rockwell used projectors and traced their images on the canvas. But those guys were working for syndications and they had to churn out their work , pressured by schedule.
Hello lovelys! First off, great work and nice video ! Second, can anybody tell me if the paper has to be dry for layering or can I continue coloring? Thanks for your help, everybody have a nice day! :-)
I am 44, i use to draw all the time when younger and have not done it in many years. Lately i am obsessed with drawing but i kind of feel lost. I never had any training and was just self taught. Any suggestions on things i should learn before moving ahead. I have painted a few thing with water colors and i really love it, but i want to learn techniques etc. to further enhancement my paintings. help. Your painting is beautiful btw.
Hello! I thank you for your very interesting videos! a question: what adhesive tape (in the video is yellow) do you use to keep the sheet? mine is not good because the glue rips off a layer of paper when I take it off. Thank you!💗
Lioba I love so much watching your vids .. talks about and tutorials .. I would like to ask you about polychromos .. since you are using them for a big while .. since they don't blend wit watercolor (Im guessing lol I never used them. ) did you tried watercolor pencils ? and if yes what you didn´'t liked about them ? I want to try polychromes but Im fear that if i apply them then if I have to apply watercolor on top of them it would not be possible . thanks
Omg! You're an inspiration, this is so beautiful ♥ I just want to practice more and more when I see such beautiful art like this, thank you so much for sharing! ♥
Tracing is not cheating. A lot of artists use it to make the artwork faster. What matters is that it’s not a stolen idea or work. In any case as long as people aren’t selling things as their original work when its copied it’s fine. People can draw whatever they want and how they want, they are learning and enjoying. Also as if tracing does all the work for you? Tracing literally just helps your with proportions and placement of the image everything else has to be done by you! Seeing what you draw, the shadows, highlights, shapes and lines. Besides drawing takes a lot of patience and so much time! Tracing can also help to actually practice and memorizing proportions. It helps your drawing a lot. Stop policing art. Not everyone is a realism artist. Let people create and have fun. As long as no one is stealing 100% of someone elses work it’s fine. Every art work is inspired in something or has a reference. We are all constantly inspired by other peoples work and ideas.
Hi Lioba! Very beautiful video, thank you for sharing your breathtaking art. I've tried this technique of using watercolor first and then add color pencils (I have prismacolors premiere pencils) but I found out that when I apply the pencil it usually lifts up the watercolor and it's so frustrating! Do you have any tips for that? Thank you very much in advance and have a nice day💓
Hi, great video btw. I bought luminance pencils but I’m having a bit of trouble with them. On your video it seems as if they coming off smooth and textured, but when I am using them they are still coming off grainy and with pencil lines. Any advice?
I'm no longer creative for painting because I draw just famous person pictures . Have you got a idea for me ? How I will be original ? But you are very good .you will be inspiration source for me .♥♥♥♥♥
